Darjeeling ( Nepali : दर्जीलिंङ ) is a city and municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal . The city is located at an altitude of 6,700 ft (2,042.2 m) above sea level in the Shivalik range of the Himalayas . The city is a popular tourist destination famous for its tea industry , views of the world's third highest peak, Kanchenjunga , and the UNESCO World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway . The city is the headquarters of Darjeeling, a semi-autonomous district of West Bengal .
The town's recorded history began in the early 19th century when the colonial administration of British India established a sanatorium and a military depot in the area . After that many tea plantations were developed in the region and tea growers started producing black tea hybrids and inventing new fermentation processes. The resulting specialty Darjeeling tea has gained international recognition and ranks as one of the most popular black teas in the world. [6] The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway connects the city to the plains. Some of the few steam locomotives still in operation in India belong to this railway.
The city of Darjeeling has several British-style public schools. Students from different parts of India and some neighboring states come to study here. The assemblage of Lepchas , Khampas, Gorkhas , Newars , Sherpas , Bhutias , Bengalis and other ethnic and linguistic groups of India is reflected in Darjeeling's cultural diversity. [7] In the 1980s, Darjeeling and the neighboring district headquarters of Kalimpong were the epicenters of the Gorkhaland movement.

Darjeeling Kalimpong Tour Day 1(Dhaka to Darjeeling). It was our AEL Official 5 days tour. Our Journey start from Shamoli NR Travels Bus Counter Kallanpur Dhaka at 16 Feb 2023 7.00 PM. Bus fare was 2200 TK(Dhaka to Siliguri). We reached Burimari border at 7.00 AM. It takes more then 4 hours for our both side Immigration. We reached Darjeeling next day 7.00 PM. It was a long journey.

ঢাকা থেকে দার্জিলিং ভ্রমণের সপ্তম পর্বে আমরা দার্জিলিং থেকে মিরিক কি ভাবে যাওয়া যায় এবং সাথে মিরিক লেকের সৈন্দর্য দেখানোর চেষ্টা করবো।
দার্জিলিং কে গুডবাই বলার জন্য খুব সকালে আমরা বেরিয়ে পড়ি মর্নিংওয়াকে। এবার আমরা হাঁটতে হাঁটতে দার্জিলিং এর জোও পর্যন্ত যাই। আর ফিরার পথে দেখে আসি কোথা থেকে মিরিক যাবার লোকাল গাড়ি পাওয়া যায়। দার্জিলিং এর এই স্ট্যান্ড থেকে সকল রুটের গাড়ি পাওয়া যায়। যেমন দার্জিলিং টু মিরিক, কালিংপং এবং গ্যাংটক।
দার্জিলিং এর এই স্ট্যান্ড থেকে মিরিক যেতে হলে লোকাল গাড়ি ভাড়া জন প্ৰতি ১৫০ রুপি। দার্জিলিং থেকে মিরিক যাবার পথটি অসাধারণ। পাহাড়ি পথে এঁকেবেঁকে আমাদের গাড়িটি ছুটে চলছিল। হঠাৎ করে বড় মেঘের ভেলা এসে আমাদের গাড়ির গতি রোধ করছিলো। সামনের রাস্তা টা একেবারে দেখা যাচ্ছিলনা। আবার সামনের রাস্তা খুব পরিষ্কার দেখা যাচ্ছিলো । এই ভাবে আমরা ছুটে চলচ্চিলাম মিরিক এর পথে। ২ থেকে ২.৫০ ঘন্টায় আমরা মিরিক পৌঁছে যাই।
হোটেলে লাগেজ রেখেই বেরিয়ে পরি মিরিক লেকের ফিশ পয়েন্টএ।
কি সুন্দর মেঘ গুলো উড়েবেড়াচ্ছে। যদি মেঘের মতো হতে পারতাম তবে আমরা এক জায়গা থেকে আরেক জায়গাতে যেতে পারতাম।
মিরিকের প্রধান আকর্ষণ হলো মিরিক লেক। এটি সুমেন্দু লেকও বলে। যার দৈর্ঘ্য ১/২ কিলোমিটার। লেকটিতে একটি হাঁটার ব্রিজ রয়েছে যা ইন্দ্রানি পুল নামে পরিচিত। লেকটির ধারে পাইন গাছের ঘন বন রয়েছে। এটির চারদিকে সাড়ে তিন কিলোমিটার পথ রয়েছে। এখান থেকে কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘাও দেখা যায়। লেকে নৌকাবিহার এবং টাট্টু ঘোড়ায় চেপে লেকের চারপাশ প্রদক্ষিণ করা যায়।
