Iceland to Denmark with M/S Norröna ???????? [S3 - Eps 15]

And that was it already! My Iceland adventures have come to an end. I am boarding the M/S Norröna again and after 2 days of (smooth!) sailing, my Honda CB500X Ronin and I arrive back in Denmark. We are facing a temperature difference of some 30 degrees, making the camping experience completely different!

Part 1: Ferry (MS Norröna) crossing to Iceland (June 2022)

This video shows viewers how the ferry crossing to Iceland is progressing. We start with the check-in at the terminal at the port of Hirtshals in Denmark. We then proceed to the car deck of the Norröna (Smyril Line) and sail to Thorshaven in the Faroe Islands for a stopover of approximately one hour. Then the boat sails between the Faroe Islands to Seyðisfjörður harbor in Iceland. A nice experience how to get on and off the boat by car.
Information about the route to follow and details appear on the screen.

Ferry trip from Denmark to Faroe Islands

To go from Western Europe to Iceland, it is fast and cheap to use an airplane but you don't see anything. Therefore, in May 2018, we decided to go there by the road, with our own vehicle and we took the ferry Norröna from Hirtshals in Denmark to Seyðisfjörður in Iceland via Tórshavn in Faroe Islands.

To reach Hirtshals, we first traveled through Northern Germany (Lower Saxony, Frisian Islands and Schleswig-Holstein) and Denmark.

This video concerns the ferry Norröna between Hirtshals and Tórshavn (Faroe Islands). Another one will concern the trip from Tórshavn to Seyðisfjörður.

While traveling onboard Norröna, we had a piece of chance. A Faroese choir and a band of accordionists were performing a very good music and they created an exceptionally festive atmosphere. Most of the passengers started to sing with them despite the difficulty of the Faroese language. We are searching to contact these people to record another performance. They may contact us (Eurasia.XXIX by gmail)

Ferry To Iceland - M/S Norröna, Smyril Line | Slide Show

For my trip to Iceland I was planning for quite a long time my transport to there. There are several flights regularly, but I had the need to bring some things for my trip up there. So I came with the two options: flight or ferry. The first is fast but limits kind of the things you can bring (camping kitchen etc), while the ferry takes three days but allows to explore Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands for several hours each passage. Since I like ferries, I decided for it.
Since this is the only ferry really traversing the rough Northern Atlantic, I expected the worst for the trip. But the ride was really calm. While on Iceland I heard that the trip afterwards was rough and people did not feel too good, but on my back I again was lucky with a nice calm cruise home.
I can recommend the ferry, but be aware that there is no possibility for one or two person cabins. You always have to share with other people. I was lucky to have nice people in the cabin (4 person cabin) and we even went to explore Tórshavn together.

In case you wonder about the flag... I chose the flag of the Faroe Islands, since the ferry company has their seat there.

It is possible I used the Swedish name of Tórshavn in the video, if so, sorry for this. I currently plan my next big trip and might got issues with language switching... :) I will do real video soon and only add some photos for these. Stay tuned!
