8 Reasons Why Americans LEAVE Costa Rica [Why I Left]

The TRUTH about living in Costa Rica: Why do so many Americans leave Costa Rica after moving there? In this video, I explain what causes expats to change their minds about retiring abroad and why I left Costa Rica after 8 years. Some of the initial reasons that people want to move to Costa Rica include the moderate climate, laid back lifestyle, fresh and healthy food, friendly people, beaches, medical tourism, and the low cost of living. But is Costa Rica really a safe and friendly country or is it actually dangerous and expensive? Once they arrive, many people realize that living in Costa Rica wasn't quite what they expected. Unfortunately, that results in people returning home quite soon after arriving.

After helping more than 500 foreigners move to Costa Rica and living there for eight years, this video explains the top reasons why people move back to the USA and why I left, too, so that you know more about what to expect BEFORE you get there. This is the real and sometimes dark truth about living in Costa Rica. What do you think are the biggest pros and cons of living in Costa Rica? Let us know in the comments.

We travel through Costa Rica in search for its most iconic wildlife (it was not easy) - (EP 64)

Sloth, River crossings, Beach Camps, Scarlet macaws, Crocodile Bridge...

Last week we travelled through the centre of Costa Rica. For this last week in the country we have a busy programme... We leave the central valleys of the country and go with our Land Rover defender, first to the Caribbean coast and then to the Pacific Coast. On our way we are looking for some of the country's most iconic wildlife. It is hard to spot wildlife for rookies like us, even in a country with so much fauna like Costa Rica. But slowly we get better and better. We finish our journey around the gorgeous Osa Peninsula, a place like no other. But we let you discover it in the video.

In the following week a lot of change is going to happen. We are very excited to share it with you. In the meantime if you want to support us for free: subscribe to the channel and watch another video!

Until next week, take care!

First Time in Costa Rica!! ???????? COSTA RICAN STREET FOOD Tour in San Jose!!

???????? Guatemalan Street Food Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

San José, Costa Rica - Welcome to San José, the capital and biggest city in Costa Rica, and one of the best places to eat Costa Rican food. Today we’re going on an ultimate Costa Rica street food tour, from the market to local restaurants and everything in between. Let’s go eat!

First of all a huge thank you to:
- Yeison and Samantha, follow them @mytanfeet
- Alex and Roberto from Chepe Cletas Tours
For taking me on this unforgettable Costa Rican food tour.

Mercado Central de San José (San José Central Market) - We’re beginning this tour at the central market in San Jose, the best place to take in the sights, sounds and ingredients of Costa Rica. Soda Tala, San José Central Market ( is without a doubt one of the city’s best stalls, known for their Gallo Pinto (Rice and beans) - the national dish of Costa Rica. We also tried Marisquería Brigitte for their Cadosas (Ceviche with Picaritas chips), which is something else you don’t want to miss. Finally, La Sorbetera de Lolo Mora is a perfect sweet finish to any market tour in San Jose.

Super Cholo Gigante at Super Cholo Gigante, San José Meat Market - After walking around the market, we then headed to the Meat Market and in the back there’s a restaurant that specializes in bocas, or small places of food. Here you can get all the classic Costa Rican foods, authentic and cooked to perfection.

Empanadas at La Empanadota - You can’t come to Costa Rica without trying an empanada and everyone seems to have their favorite. When they are deep fried hot and fresh and drizzled in five sticky sauces, they are hard to resist.

Next up with tried Costa Rican Coffee at Café La Mancha ( and it was the perfect afternoon boost.

And finally we tried some unique Ice cream at the famous Corazón Contento Pastelería, San José, Costa Rica (

Again, thank you to Yeison and Samantha from My Tan Feet, and Alex and Roberto from Chepe Cletas Tours for taking me around San Jose, Costa Rica!

48 Hours in Jacó, Costa Rica | Hidden Gems Locals Know and You Don't!

If you're visiting Jacó, Costa Rica, be sure to check out this travel guide. Jacó is a small, party, beach town on the southern, Pacific coast of Costa Rica. BUT, there are plenty of family friendly activities and hidden gems only the locals know of (and now you after you watch this video) that are off the typical tourist path.

We want to give a special thanks to Sony for sponsoring this video. Throughout the video, we share why we love our ECM-B10 microphone, which is a key ingredient for good storytelling when it comes to making our YouTube videos. You can purchase your own ECM-B10 by click this link:

Here are our favourite features of the ECM-B10:

• 3-directional pickup patterns: super-directional (great for selfie style filming), unidirectional (perfect for multi-person interviews) and omnidirectional (records from all directions).

• In-body digital conversion which helps to reduce noise inside the camera.

• It's Cable-free (just plugs right into the hot shoe)!

• Highly efficient noise cut filter to reduce ambient noises such as wind, rain, or annoying background sounds.

Long Life Food of Costa Rica!! HUGE BREAKFAST + Secrets to Eating in Nicoya!!

???? Huge thank you to @mytanfeet for this amazing experience!
???????? Costa Rican Street Food Tour:

Nicoya, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica - Nicoya is one of the five Blue Zones in the world, where people traditionally live much longer and healthier lives. Today we’re learning from some of the community elders about what they do, and especially what they eat. This was a huge learning experience, and definitely many tips that we can all use!

Fonda Chorotega, Nicoya, Costa Rica - We first spent some time at Fonda Chorotega, a restaurant in Nicoya preserving traditional Costa Rican food in the region. We first cooked some local corn tortillas with cheese, then tried some tamales. Next we had an entire gallo pinto meal with organic free range chicken stew. We also had egg coffee!

Mujeres del Maíz, Nicoya, Costa Rica - Next we met up with a community from Mujeres del Maíz who specialize in preserving corn recipes from Nicoya. Corn, in all shapes, sizes, and forms is very important in longevity and local diet.

Fidel - 97 Years Old, Nicoya, Costa Rica - Finally, it was a huge honor to meet up with Fidel, who is 97 years old, and still enjoys life to the fullest!

Again, a huge thank you to @mytanfeet for arranging this entire experience. Check out their amazing website packed with Costa Rica travel tips and information (
