Heading to Europe & Not Sure What to Pack? Here are a few things that my fellow US travelers may want to avoid packing if they are traveling to Europe.
1. Baseball Caps: Europeans in general do not wear baseball caps, especially backwards. You would be better served to wear a more traditional hat. You will see an occasional NY Yankee hat, but why not buy the fancy hat you always wanted instead?
2. Athletic Wear: Europeans tend to wear athletic wear to do sports, not to wear around town. There is a trend of more athleisurewear in Europe, but it is not to the extent that there is in US.
3. Khakis: the omnipresent US male pant choice is not something you will see too often in Europe. Go for colored pants or jeans. If you want khaki like pants wear Chinos instead of Dockers. The pants you will see are a thinner cut or skinnier fit than in the US.
4. Oversized US University Sweatshirts.
5. Sport Shoes or High Heals: US sport shoes and white socks are not quite as popular in Europe as they are in the US. You may be better off with Urban Street shoes like Vans instead. Also, women should be careful with high heels as with all the cobblestone it is easy to hurt your ankles.

In the Season 3 Premiere, Charles continues on his epic journey around the world beginning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Best of Athens (4K) - Temple of Olympian Zeus
This is the Temple of Olympian Zeus segment of DIY Layover - Athens (ATH) and the host Charles Huang will visit this historic site and showcase it's history. This is a former colossal temple at the Athens' centre and dedicated to Olympian Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods. Construction began in the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian tyrants, who envisaged building the greatest temple in the ancient world, but it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, some 638 years after the project had begun. During the Roman period the temple, which included 104 colossal columns, was renowned as the largest temple in Greece and housed one of the largest cult statues in the ancient world.

Charles is making the most out of a 14 hour layover in Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH). The host will visit the city's world famous historic attractions including the Acropolis of Athens, a UNESCO site, its iconic Parthenon, the Old Temple of Athena Erechtheion, Theatre of Dionysus, Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Other sites includes the Philopappos Monument, Hadrian's Library and Ancient Agora of Athens, along with the Temple of Hephaestus on top of the Agoraios Kolonos hill, Byzantine Church of the Holy Apostles, and Stoa of Attalos. Around the National Garden, we'll also explore Zappeion Hall, Panathenaic Stadium and Temple of Olympian Zeus. As well the Changing of the Guards Evzones in front of the Greek Parliament on Syntagma Square, getting some great souvenir shopping at the Monastiraki Flea Market and pay the Old Athen's Ellinikon International Airport a visit. As well getting around without being pickpocket on Athens Metro and using X95 Airport Shuttle.

I didn't visit Athens on this layover, I've already been but detail if it's worth it to leave the airport on a 6.5 hour layover. Answer is yes, go see the Acropolis. Layover was Olympic Air from Istanbul, Turkey to Athens Greece then Aegean Air flight to Beirut Lebanon.

Recently, I had a pretty long layover in #Athens, on my way to Egypt. I chose this flight because I haven’t visited the capital of #Greece before, and this was a good time to get out of the airport and explore the oldest capital in Europe for several hours.
Since it was the beginning of March, the weather was just perfect, and I had a great spring day with just enough degrees in the thermometer to make me feel comfortable for the few miles I had to walk on the charming streets.

What to do if you have a five-hour layover in Athens, Greece? I'm about to tell you why Athens Airport is the BEST airport for a long layover! GIKAS WINERY!
If you only have 5 hours in Athens, you can hop in a cab from the airport to Gikas Winery. It's only about a 15-minute cab ride away! (You will DEFINITELY want to call ahead!)
For just 24 Euro a person, Gikas winery will give you a tour of their winery and a wine tasting sure to dazzle! We had eight giant glasses of wine, a decadent cheese board, and dessert!
Everyone was so nice.
AND, Gikas winery made sure to ask when our next flight was so they could plan our experience accordingly and ensure we wouldn't be late or stressed checking in. It was a DREAM COME TRUE!

What is a cabin crew LAYOVER?
A Crew's layover is a period of rest in a hotel at the destination before operating the next flight.
How long is a LAYOVER?
The length of Crew's layover varies depending on the airlines policy. It can be less than 24 hours or multiple days.
One of the privileges of becoming an air crew is the opportunity to stay at nice hotels worldwide. Airlines put up their air crew at good hotels to maximize their enjoyment during layovers. Most hotels also provide Crew Lounge access with complimentary drinks and snacks.
During layovers, your time is at your disposal. In long layovers, cabin crew could join tours to visit places, whereas in short layovers, Crew normally spend time sleeping to relax and recharge before the next departure.

The Best of Athens (4K) - Ancient Agora, Temple of Hephaestus, Stoa of Attalos, Holy Apostles Church
This is the Ancient Agora segment of DIY Layover - Athens (ATH) and the host Charles Huang will visit this important historic ancient site. The ancient Agora of Athens, also called the Classical Agora is the best-known example of an ancient Greek agora, located to the northwest of the Acropolis and bounded on the south by the hill of the Areopagus and on the west by the hill known as the Agoraios Kolonos, also called Market Hill. The Agora's initial use was for a commercial, assembly, or residential gathering place. Also located within the site is Temple of Hephaestus or Hephaisteion, a well-preserved Greek temple; it remains standing largely intact. Hephaestus was the patron god of metal working, craftsmanship, and fire. There were numerous potters' workshops and metal-working shops in the vicinity of the temple, as befits the temple's honoree. From the 7th century until 1834, it served as the Greek Orthodox church of Saint George Akamates. The building's condition has been maintained due to its history of varied use. Also in the agora is Stoa of Attalos, built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC. The current building was reconstructed in 1952–1956 and currently houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora. A dedicatory inscription engraved on the architrave states that it was built by Attalos II, who was ruler of Pergamon. The stoa was a gift to the city of Athens for the education that Attalos received there under the philosopher Carneades. Also restored is the Church of the Holy Apostles, also known as Holy Apostles of Solaki. The first significant church of the middle Byzantine period in Athens, and marks the beginning of the so-called Athenian type, The church was built partly over a 2nd-century nymphaion, and was restored to its original form between 1954 and 1957.
