Ingredients:

Apples:
6 Granny Smith Apples
6 Lollipop Sticks
2 Cups of Baking Caramel
¼ Cup of Water
12 Large Marshmallows
1 bag of Soft Caramels

Topping:
2 cups of White Melting Candies
1 Cup of Chocolate Frosting
Black Food Dye

Recipe:

Boil water in the microwave or on the stove top and quickly dunk your apples in the hot water. This step removes the wax coating from the apples and enables the caramel to stick on the apple. Remove the apples from the hot water and dry them off. Run them under cold water and dry them once more.

Grab a metal skewer, spear, or ice pick and force it down the center of the apple. You’ll want to enter from the bottom of the apple, not from the stem. This allows for a better candied shape. Insert the skewer approximately ⅔ into the apple and remove. Then insert your lollipop sticks into the newly formed holes. Shake the apples a tad on the sticks to ensure they are firmly placed.

In a microwave safe bowl or Pyrex, combine 2 cups of baking caramels with ¼ cup of caramel and microwave at 30 second intervals until fully melted.

Stir enough to combine. (Stirring too vigorously will cause air bubbles) With one hand, tip the edge of the bowl and with the other grab the apple by the stick, dip, and twirl it into the melted caramel. Once coated, hang the apple over the caramel to let the excess drip and use a spatula to remove the excess from the bottom.

Place the coated apples on a parchment paper lined cutting board. Set them aside to cool.

Grab your soft caramels, and begin to flatten them into a disc with a diameter of around 4 inches. Take your cooled caramel coated apple and press it firmly down onto the caramel disc. Once the two items are joined together, pinch up 4 sides of the caramel skirt to create a ghost appearance.

Meanwhile, set up a double boiler. Place a bowl with your white melting candies over a pot filled with water. Boil the water and stir the chocolate until you reach a smooth and dripping consistency.

Just before you are ready to dip your apple, grab your marshmallows, and cut off 1/10th of it lengthwise and press two onto the top of your apple to create the Mickey ears.

With one hand, tip the edge of the bowl and with the other grab the apple by the stick, dip, and twirl it into the melting candy. Once coated, hang the apple over the white chocolate to let the excess drip and use a spatula to remove the excess from the bottom.

Mix together 10 drops of black food coloring and 1 cup of chocolate frosting together in a bowl. Once combined to the desired color, place the chocolate frosting into a sandwich bag and cut a small piece off of the corner of the bag to create a makeshift piping bag.

Once your chocolate coated apple is completely dried, start the decorating process. Begin with the nose, centered on the apple, then the outline for the eyes, the mouth, and fill in any holes.

Once you have finished designing your apples, cut them open and enjoy!
