DIVING RAJA AMPAT (4K) The Last Aquatic Paradise

This is Raja Ampat (4k) - dive into the dream of biodiversity

Breathtaking dives in Raja Ampat, West Papua, Kri Island, Indonesian coral reefs. As part of Coral Triangle Raja Ampat in West Papua has the highest biodiversity and the most colorful reefs on the planet, around 75% of the world’s coral species live here.

The size, maturity and healthiness of corals in this region is insane! A large part of the marine life in Raja Ampat is protected by 7 Marine Protected Areas (MPA's).

Raja Ampat is an archipelago of over 1500 small islands, including the four main islands of: Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo.

We started our trip in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 2 flight transfers, 2 boat transfers and +30 hours later we arrived at Kri Island at Kri Eco Resort + Papua Diving for 10 days. Together with my daughter, Isabelle, we made 22 dives at the most beautiful dive sites there are.

All the dive sites are 5-25 minutes from Kri Island: Kri Eco Jetty, Chicken Bay, Mikes Point (!!), Blue Magic, Sardines, Sapokren Jetty, Melissa’s Garden (!!), Chicken Reef, Sorido Wall, Friwenbonda, Citrus Reef, Cape Kri and a lot more!

We stayed on Kri Island, at Kri Eco Resort. Kri Eco Resort is located in the center of the Raja Ampat Marine park at Kri Island. Papua Diving provides guided dives for Kri Eco Resort and (sister resort) Sorido Bay Resort. The local Papuan dive guides of Papua Diving are the best experienced dive guides in Raja Ampat.

Raja Ampat has more than 1000 species of fish, 540 species of coral and 700 species of mollusk. Predatory fish such as Barracudas, Blacktip Reef Sharks and Whitetip Reef Sharks are fully present. Large Oceanic Manta rays are attracted to the rich plankton waters. Schools of fish are everywhere and sometimes a bait ball can be seen. Beside the beauty marinelife the Kri’s forests are rich in birdlife and reptiles.

A special part of the marine park are the Mangroves at Hidden Bay (6:06), they offer critical nursing environments for juveniles of fish species. World's largest amount of mangrove coverage can be found in Indonesia. The Mangroves where one of the highlight’s of this trip!

During our stay we made excursions to Fam Islands, Hidden Bay and The Passage, they are the very definition of paradise.

- (7:00) Fam Islands are a group of islands in the Raja Ampat Archipelago. White limestone cliffs plunge into the sea. Ultramarine blue lagoons are nestled next to monumental pinnacles and untouched beaches.

- (6:06) Hidden Bay has a mangrove system of clear mirror-still blue water, where soft corals grow on the roots of mangrove trees. Rising above the foliage hornbills and parrots swoop between the trees. Hidden Bay is a complex network of interconnected water channels and lakes.

- (7:23) The Passage lies between the island of Gam and Waigeo. It can be described as river flowing between the two islands. The nutrient rich waters that are drawn through by the tides feed a vast wealth of marine biodiversity. Above water the sheer limestone cliffs make this a place excessively beautiful.

Places like this are sensitive to climate change. It's frightening to see how many people close their eyes for climate change. Climate change and a decrease of biodiversity are caused by overpopulation. Overpopulation is the main cause of most urgent problems in the world.

This film is the result of around 20 hours of 4k video footage and a few months editing. Shot in May / June 2019.

Liveaboard in Raja Ampat. 10 Minutes in The Last Paradise

Raja Ampat, the last paradise is as busy as ever, and the scuba diving is as good as it's been years ago.

This video was a 10 day liveaboard I did a few weeks ago, and it shows what you can still see underwater, here in Raja Ampat. Of course there are so much more to see than this short 10 minute video, but at least you'll get a good idea for your visit to this magical scuba destination.

Sorido Bay Resort was by far our favourite, and between 2018 and 2020 we were very lucky to spend in total 5 weeks at this resort. The combination of the best diving, greatest marine biodiversity in the world, and the resort itself made it our favourite place on this Planet. Raja Ampat - The Amazon of the Ocean

With its insanely clear waters, lagoons, waterfalls and gigantic jungles Raja Ampat is beyond your imagination. There is an unparalleled richness in wildlife and it's not a coincidence that this gem is home of three-quarters of all known coral species in the world, but this place could be soon in danger. Over the last few years there’s been a noticeable increase in the amount of trash especially plastic in #RajaAmpat waters - Watch the video until the end to see more.

Partecipa al mio corso online dedicato alla Post Produzione su DaVinci Resolve e scopri l’approccio creativo e il metodo che uso durante la realizzazione dei miei video:

Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. Plastics consistently make up 60 to 90% of all marine debris studied. Today, marine conservation is considered one of the greatest scientific problems on our planet. Ecosystems have changed irreversibly, ocean management is fragmented and oceans are managed independently of the terrestrial (land) environment. Nonetheless, given that 71% of our planet is covered by water, the state of our waterways is now one of our most pressing issues.

The proceeds from the visualizations of this video will be donated to Sea Sheperd Global which is responsible for marine wildlife conservation. Their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. So, enjoy and spread the word: be the wave! ????

Tourist Free Paradise | Raja Ampat Indonesia Travel Guide | Best Diving & Snorkeling

Today we are going to tell you about the world’s most perfect travel destination, Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Today’s video is a travel guide to get you to this very remote location full of white sand beaches which happens to be the best snorkeling and diving spot in the world. It’s the one place left that isn’t overrun by tourists and one of the best places without tourists.

It is so much more affordable than Bora Bora or the Maldives, with much less tourists, and it’s more beautiful under water. It’s a little hard to get to, but we’re going to share with you how to get to this remote paradise, including flight information and ferry service. We’ll also tell you about the resort we stayed in and how you can book this hidden gem.

Below are some travel guide tips for visiting Raja Ampat:

We stayed at the Wai Resort in Raja Ampat. About $300 per night and included 3 meals a day for 2 people.

Plan your itinerary: Determine the duration of your trip and the specific islands or areas of Raja Ampat you want to visit. Consider the activities you wish to engage in, such as snorkeling, diving, or exploring the local culture.

Obtain necessary travel documents: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date. Check the visa requirements for your country of residence. Indonesia offers visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival for many nationalities, but it's best to confirm this before your trip.

Choose your travel dates: Raja Ampat's weather is typically warm and tropical year-round. The dry season, from October to April, is generally recommended for better visibility in the water. However, the islands are accessible throughout the year.

Book your flights: The main entry point to Raja Ampat is Sorong, located in West Papua, Indonesia. Search for flights to Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ) in Sorong. Several airlines operate regular flights from major Indonesian cities like Jakarta, Bali, or Makassar. From Sorong, you will need to take a ferry or speedboat to reach the islands of Raja Ampat.

Accommodation: Raja Ampat offers various types of accommodation, ranging from budget-friendly homestays to luxury resorts. Research and book your accommodation in advance to secure your preferred options, especially during peak seasons.

Arrange transportation: Once you arrive in Sorong, you'll need to arrange transportation to the islands of Raja Ampat. Public ferries operate between Sorong and Waisai, the main gateway to Raja Ampat. The journey takes around two hours. Alternatively, you can hire a speedboat for a quicker transfer.

Dive into Raja Ampat's underwater paradise: Raja Ampat is renowned for its unparalleled marine biodiversity. Engage in snorkeling or scuba diving activities to explore the vibrant coral reefs, encounter colorful fish species, and possibly spot manta rays and sea turtles. Numerous dive centers and operators are available across the islands.

Respect the environment and local communities: Raja Ampat is an ecologically sensitive area with fragile ecosystems. Follow responsible tourism practices by not littering, avoiding stepping on coral, and using reef-safe sunscreen. Respect the local culture and traditions, and support the local economy by purchasing locally made products.

Since 2008, GLP has been telling local stories globally through beautifully crafted video, engaging content and communications campaigns, and a people-first approach. This unique fusion of creativity, strategy, and authenticity means we’re able to align content marketing campaigns with organizational sustainability objectives and activate local stakeholder ownership of destination management efforts.

We’re honored to work with top tier destinations and organizations like Visit California, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Georgia National Tourism Administration, National Geographic, UNWTO, PATA, Global Sustainable Tourism Council, Green Destinations, and more, to propel sustainability forward with expert sustainability strategy, content strategy, storytelling, trade development, and custom marketing and distribution.

Want to inspire, create change, and embrace sustainability through storytelling? Let’s see what we can do together! Send us a note at team@glpfilms.com.
