Hiroshima and Miyajima day trip from Kyoto | Japan vlog #8
During this Japan trip, we did a lot of day trips that were really far away, but thankfully with the speed and efficiency of shinkansens, the commute isn't so bad and is actually quite comfortable. In this vlog, we take our last far day trip east to Hiroshima to visit the museum and bomb site, as well as Miyajima Island to feed deer and visit the torii gate at the Itsukushima Shrine.

Hiroshima Miyajima day trip from Kyoto: Japan travel vlog Part 2
I agonised over the itinerary for this trip. Work commitments meant the number of days we had were limited, but out of the destinations I planned to visit during our stay, there weren’t any I was happy to drop. A friend who had recently visited Japan said maybe I should drop Hiroshima, which was going to be an overnight stay. I nearly took their advice, but then I figured out that I could visit Hiroshima and Miyajima in a single day from Kyoto.

Hiroshima & Miyajima | Japan in Summer | Solo Travel Guide
Hiroshima: a city that saw tens of thousands incinerated and grievously scarred, and now houses frog-themed bars. A juncture of misery and mystic jungle mountains, Hiroshima felt appropriate a place as any to conclude the trip.

After dropping off our bags at the traditional Japanese Inn (Ryokan), we head straight for Okonomiyaki and share where we ate, the best Japanese pancake we have ever eaten!
There's shrines, and so many wild deer roaming around the island, Miyajima Island in Hiroshima is an incredible place to visit.

Exploring Hiroshima & Miyajima
JAPAN AGAIN! This time we travel to Hiroshima & Miyajima Island to explore a beautiful a part of Japan that is full of history. Hiroshima has an unfortunate history but one that comes with a big lesson for the rest of the world, so for sure we had to visit the Peace Memorial Park and A Bomb Dome Site. It's a peaceful place but can't help the surreal feeling of being in the area. The weather wasn't so good to us so when we got to Miyajima Island it became completely blanketed with fog, rain and wind. We were hoping for an amazing view of Japan from the top of Mt Misen but there was nothing but still awesome to see the Itsukushima Shrine and tori gate. Hiroshima Castle to end the trip but we didn't leave without trying the amazing Hiroshima foods: Okonomiyaki at Okonomimura, Bakudanya Tsukemen, Miyajima cakes and oysters and more. 3-day visit to Hiroshima, Japan.
Visited Hiroshima Peace Museum, Atomic bomb dome (Genbaku) - the only structure left standing where the bomb exploded on 6 August 1945. Visited Miyajima island, Itsukushima Shrine and its giant Tori Gate ‘floating’ on the water.

Hiroshima and Miyajima Island are essential places to visit in Japan. I had to try okonomiyaki and see the A-Bomb Dome (Hiroshima Peace memorial) and Itsukushima shrine (Miyajima island) is one of the best and most famous tourist locations in Japan. (And unlike some, really isn't underrated!)

Miyajima and Hiroshima in a day
Episode 5 of our Andiamo Japan trip. Sixth day of the travel with my family through Japan, we leave Kyoto early to visit Miyajima and Hiroshima. The conection to Miyajima island by ferry with the JRpass was a time saver! We had not so good weather conditions, so decided to skip half of our visits for the day and headed to Hiroshima in the afternoon to visit the peace memorial park, museum and the dome, that resisted the atomic bomb in 1945. At night, we couldn't miss to eat Hiroshima style okonomiyaki!
