Coastal Paphos is famed for its archaeological sites relating to the cult of Aphrodite, including ruins of palaces, tombs and mosaic-tiled villas. Southern coastal city Limassol is the site of medieval Limassol Castle and an Old Port. Cypriots have been cultivating wine since the Bronze Age, and many wineries are based in and around Limassol. Some vineyards occupy the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains, home to pine-cedar forests, painted Byzantine churches and ski resorts. The western Akamas Peninsula National Park is a rugged area for hiking and mountain biking, with beaches accessible by off-road vehicles. Kyrenia, with its picturesque harbour and adjacent castle, is called the “Jewel of Cyprus”. It is, quite simply, exquisite! The town was probably founded circa tenth century BC and was one of the original city kingdoms. Its position on the north coast made it the ideal place to develop a harbour, and being only forty miles from the Turkish mainland it was perfectly situated on the trade route.

Larnaca is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus and the capital of the district of the same name. It is the third-largest city in the country, after Nicosia and Limassol, with a metro population of 144,200 in 2015.
Larnaca is known for its palm-tree seafront also called Foinikoudes as well as the Church of Saint Lazarus, Hala Sultan Tekke, Kamares Aqueduct, and Larnaca Castle. It is built on the ruins of ancient Citium, which was the birthplace of Stoic philosopher Zeno. Larnaca is home to the country's primary airport, Larnaca International Airport. It also has a seaport and a marina.

Paphos and Cyprus in general has been a top attraction for millions of tourists every year. Unfortunately this summer season hasn't start yet cause of the corona virus.
This Video is recorded On April.29.2020.
On this video you can see the Paphos Castle area and Harbour that usually is packed with thousands of tourists every year but now its empty because of the Corona virus pandemic.
You can spot only few people who are walking for exercise and very few cars. The car parking was usually full before and now its completely empty.
The car parking is right next to the entrance of Paphos Archaelogical park.
Paphos Castle is located on the edge of Paphos harbour.
It was originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect the harbour. It was then rebuilt by the Lusignans in the thirteenth century after being destroyed in the earthquake of 1222. In 1570 it was dismantled by the Venetians. After capturing the island, the Ottomans restored and strengthened it.
Throughout the ages it has seen many uses. It has served as a fortress, a prison and even a warehouse for salt during the British occupation of the island.
More recently the castle serves as a backdrop to the annual open air Paphos cultural festival which takes place in September.It was declared a listed building in 1935 and represents one of the most distinctive landmarks of the city of Paphos. Several archaeological excavations have taken place to investigate its past.
Corona Virus update:
The government just announced on the April 29th.2020 at the national news that starting from May.04 2020 will start re-opening small businesses.
On May.21th restaurants,cafeterias will also re-open but with new safety measures to avoid the further spreading of the covid-19 virus.

Since March.25 2020 Shops were shuttered and streets mostly empty in Cyprus as islanders awoke to the first full day of a four-week, stay-at-home order the government issued to curb the spread of the corona virus.

As he announced the lockdown on March.23rd 2020 , Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades condemned a disobedient, ill-disciplined and reckless minority of people who continued to flout existing restrictions and potentially put lives at risk.
Anastasiades ordered all citizens to remain indoors unless they have to go to work, pick up food and other essential supplies, visit the doctor or a pharmacy, go to the bank or help others in need.When outside, all citizens must carry identification and those who don't conform could face criminal charges and an on-the-spot fine of 150 euros (130GBP).
The order remains in effect until May.04 2020. Cyprus has confirmed 850 corona virus cases and fourteen deaths as of today April 30 2020.
The latest infections are on a single digit and they are plans to restart the economy and loosen the counter measures starting from May.04.2020.

About Athalassa: Aglandjia (Greek: Αγλαντζιά [locally [aɣlaˈnd͡ʒa]]; Turkish: Eğlence) is a suburb and a municipality of Nicosia, Cyprus. The municipality has a population of 20,783 (2011) and is contiguous with Nicosia Municipality. Aglandjia is near the buffer zone. It has an area of about 31 km2, of which 14 km2 are agricultural land occupied by the Turkish army since 1974. Of the remaining 17 km2, 9 km2 are national forest parks (Athalassa park, 8.6 km2 and Pedagogical Academy park 0.4 km2). Aglandjia is Nicosias highest suburb, since its largest part is built either on hills or at tableland level. Aglandjia was built in mediaeval times, before Ottoman rule, on an important site for defensive purposes, which also offered natural resources and a healthy climate. Aglandjia contains many green spaces. The largest is the big lung of Nicosia, Athalassa Forest, but the municipality also offers Ayios Yeorgios Park, Aglandjia Municipal Park, and 45 small parks and green spaces. Aglandjia is built along the road that led from Nicosia to Larnaca before the invasion. Two trapezoidal hills overlook the road on both sides.
