Exploring the BEAUTIFUL Port of Curacao!! ABC Islands Cruise

Did you know that the ABC islands are not geographically in alphabetical order?? First we visited Aruba and second up is Curacao. It is an overcast day, and we were at the beach yesterday, so we are feeling something different. This is a great port to walk and explore and that is exactly what we did! There is a great old fort that has a new life... as a shopping and eating area... very cool! And a pedestrian bridge that is floating on pontoons links the two sides of the city. Just walking along this bridge is neat, but also beautiful. Come along with us for a stroll and some exploration of this Dutch colonial island.

FIRST TIME Exploring ARUBA! ABC Islands Cruise

We are so excited to be in the first stop of the ABC Island… Aruba! And now we can say we have been to all the places in Kokomo (by the Beach Boys)… are you singing it now??

We decided to rent a jeep and go exploring! So, what do we do???

First stop was Palm Beach
Second Stop Arashi Beach
Third stop California light house and the we go off roading to the shore… and play with the coral!
Lastly, it’s dinner time and we eat local food at the Fisherman’s Hut. We get the local bread which is like a pancake and delicious wahoo fish!
We just LOVE a long port and boarding the ship at night!!

Curacao In The Caribbean | Is This Even Real?

Curacao - A Virtual Tour | Netherlands Antilles | Dutch Caribbean Island | ABC Islands | Travel VLog

Curaçao is one of the 3 Dutch Caribbean islands located 40 miles north of Venezuelan coast.
Together with Aruba and Bonaire it forms the ABC islands as a colonial territory of the Kingdom of Netherlands. The country is just 40 miles long and 5 miles wide with Willemstad as the capital and the downtown too.It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
A good news for the travelers is that you dont need a Schengen Visa to visit and for Indian passport, a Valid US visa on the passport is enough to enter.
The country is very colorful with its iconic buildings and architecture resembling Netherlands in Caribbean setup.
One of the engineering marvels you will see in downtown is the Queen Emma Bridge.
It is a pontoon bridge built in 1888 serving as a customs entry and exit point for the ocean going ships. Its fun watching it work and the people in bridge stuck for atleast 30 minutes while it closes again for operation. It happens for every ship entering and leaving
Its pretty laid back there and its so refreshing walking around with the colorful buildings and loud caribbean music all over...
The best way to see the country is by taking a day trip and I took a whole day scuba and snorkel trip with a bunch of fellow divers in a scuba bus with the gears and refreshments loaded
The official outfit for the day was swim suit or shorts with t shirts on and off between dives and snorkelling...
The beaches are so beautiful with the blues and greens and can spend the whole day just watching it... Every street leads to a beach or a bay ...The weather was perfect and the ocean was warm...
We spent a lot of time in the water diving or snorkeling with the beautiful and colorful fishes big and small...And also on the shore relaxing during the break under the shade with the breeze drying us while refreshing. The water was so clear that we could see the floor of the ocean from the cliff
The light blue or green parts are the shallows and the dark blue the depths
It was so beautiful and enticing to jump off the cliff and take a dip...I did not know swimming so was just watching others jump !
Next day I took off to Klein Curaçao which means little Curacao. It was a 2.5hr journey in a small cruise ship experiencing every wave and was a bumpy ride with heavy rains...Once you reach you can just see a lighthouse and a couple of huts to serve food and nothing else...After docking you have the whole day to spend the way you want...It is a small island just 0.6 sq miles and I decided to walk around and climb up the lighthouse to have a panoramic view of the ocean and then to the other side to check out the ship wrecks...
I wish I could freeze the time and just stay here ...
I just loved the time alone and away from the worlds pace , noise , internet and especially phones...
Then I got into the water snorkeling with turtles and colorful fishes...
The turtles were so curious and they wanted to swim and play with me...
In the mainland Curaçao I tried underwater scooter ride to interact with the sea creatures like sea urchins and sea horses.
As other countries Curaçao also has the lock tradition and they call it love lock and shaped like a heart.
Once you break the walls thats been holding you captive ...your journey to explore the world can finally begin....
A really touching message on a real wall unlike the FB wall
The best time to explore the downtown is the evening after the day trips to take a stroll through the decorated and colorful streets and all the way to the Curacao sign enjoying the breeze along the shore
The best way to retire for the day is to go to the pier ...sit and watch the lighted city and the bridge and later dining with some live music and dance ????
Very interesting activity of every trip is food and as usual I tried the local dishes and fishes to conclude my trip and this video as well
Hope you liked this video...please subscribe and leave a comment for suggestions and feedback...
Thanks for watching guys....Adios !!!!

Check out excursions you can do on your trip at the link below:

Have you ever been to one of the Caribbean islands? If you haven't, going to Curacao may be one of the best places to start.

Its beaches have the beautiful sands and clear waters you’d expect. Many of them require entry fees, but they’re worth paying, and a few are public and free. There are also plenty of places to go diving or snorkeling.

If you want a more unique look into marine life, try going to the sea aquarium. You can even stop by the Dolphin Academy to fulfill your dream of swimming with friendly animals.
Landbodies can still get a beautiful look into the natural landscape of Curacao. Climb the mountain at Christofell National Park or watch the waves from a distance at Sheta Boka National Park.

Willemstad is one of the most unique regions of the island, and it’s a great place to begin. Check out its pastel buildings, unique murals, restaurants, hotels, and other sites.
Many museums and monuments celebrate the history of Curacao, including its sordid contributions to the slave trade. You can learn more at the Curacao Museum, the Kura Hulanda Museum, and the Tula Monument.

There’s also a long religious history on the island. You can visit the well-preserved Fort Church or see where persecuted Jews secretly worshiped at the Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue.

The unique mix of cultures in Curacao makes its cuisine one-of-a-kind. Its restaurants offer delicious seafood, and its markets have a special mix of produce and island staples.

Don’t forget to get a souvenir before you leave. One of the best places is Serena’s Art Gallery where you can buy or make your own Chichi statue from the women who made the very first one.

Travel from CURACAO to BONAIRE - Dutch Caribbean

Hi everyone! This is episode ten of my Dutch Caribbean series, in which I travel to Aruba, Curacao (Curaçao) and Bonaire. In this video, I travel from Willemstad in Curacao to Kralendijk in Bonaire.

The video starts off with me saying goodbye to the Otrobanda area in Willemstad, where I was staying, including thanking a gentleman who helped me with some information and directions on a previous day. I then head to the bus station and, after asking for help, manage to find myself on a bus heading to Hato International Airport, the main airport in Curacao.

I then arrive at the airport, way ahead of my scheduled departure time. I give a brief tour of the airport, both outside and inside, and eventually manage to grab an earlier flight to Bonaire. (Note: from c. 7:27 to 10:19, there are various parts where I'm in the airport and the lighting may be flickering. Please do take care if you need to).

On the plane, I meet fashion blogger Kenty Lichtenberg and her friend Candy, and we experience an unforgettable 25-minute flight between the C and B islands of the Dutch Caribbean. Let's just say this was not an ordinary journey. Check out Kenty Lichtenberg's website here:

I arrive in Bonaire at Flamingo International Airport, and get picked up by a taxi driver who also point out some interesting things about Bonaire. I finally arrive at my accommodation and manage to secure myself an upgrade. The owner himself gives me a tour of the room.

I hope you enjoy this vlog! Please note that I have not been sponsored by anyone or any organisation in the production of this video.

Let's go and explore!

WOW! ONLY $25 EXCURSION! Found the CHEAPEST (and INCREDIBLE) Resort Day Pass in Bonaire!!!

We are at the last of the ABC Islands... Bonaire. We had no idea what we wanted to do in this port... we just knew we wanted a beach and snorkeling... So we walked off the ship with no booked excursion and no plans! Right outside of the ship was an information booth with maps of the island so we went and asked for a suggestion. The very nice lady told us that there was a new resort that had recently opened and were offering day passes for $25 so that sounded good to us.

A quick taxi ride and we arrived at Chogogo... WOW! We were blown away! This resort was amazing!! The sea was beautiful, with great snorkeling, but there was also a pool and even a lazy river around the resort! It wasn't busy and even though we arrived not first thing in the morning, we were able to get a great palapa which gave us comfortable shade.

Needless to say, this was an incredible day!!

Walking Around Curacao Cruise Port and Downtown Willemstad

Walking around Curacao cruise port and downtown Willemstad. Scenes include ships views related to the ships at the cruise port.
According to Wikipedia;
Curaçao, as well as the rest of the ABC islands and Trinidad and Tobago, lies on the continental shelf of South America. It is a thin island with a generally hilly topography; the highest point is Christoffelberg in the northwest, with a peak at 372 m (1,220 ft) above sea level. The coastline's bays, inlets and hot springs offer a source of natural minerals, thermal conditions, and seawater used in hydrotherapy and mesotherapy, making the island one of many balneoclimateric areas in the region. Off the southeast coast lies the small, flat island of Klein Curaçao.

Curaçao's flora differ from typical tropical island vegetation. Guajira-Barranquilla xeric scrub is the most notable, with various forms of cacti, thorny shrubs, evergreen, and watapana trees, which are characteristic of the ABC islands and the national symbol of Aruba. Brassavola nodosa is a drought-tolerant species of Brassavola, one of the few orchids present in the ABC islands. Cacti include Melocactus and Opuntia species such as Opuntia stricta.

Curaçao is semi-arid, and as such has not supported the numerous tropical species of mammals, birds, and lizards most associated with rainforests. Dozens of species of hummingbirds, bananaquits, orioles, and the larger terns, herons, egrets, and even flamingos make their homes near ponds or in coastal areas. The trupial, a black bird with a bright orange underbelly and white swatches on its wings, is common to Curaçao. The mockingbird, called chuchubi in Papiamentu, resembles the North American mockingbird, with a long white-grey tail and a grey back. Near shorelines, big-billed brown pelicans feed on fish. Other seabirds include several types of gulls and large cormorants.

Other than field mice, small rabbits, and cave bats, Curaçao's most notable animal is the white-tailed deer. This deer is related to the American white-tailed deer, or Virginia deer, found in areas from North America through Central America and the Caribbean, and as far south as Bolivia. It can be a large deer, some reaching six feet (2 m) in length and three feet (0.9 m) in height, and weighing as much as 300 pounds (140 kg). It has a long tail with a white underside, and is the only type of deer on the island. It has been a protected species since 1926, and an estimated 200 live on Curaçao. They are found in many parts of the island, but most notably at the west end's Christoffel Park, where about 70% of the herd resides. Archaeologists believe the deer were brought from South America to Curaçao by its original inhabitants, the Arawaks.

The iguanas found on Curaçao serve not only as a scenic attraction but, unlike many islands that gave up the practice years ago, remain hunted for food. Along the west end of the island's north shore are several inlets that have become home to breeding sea turtles. These turtles are protected by the park system in Shete Boka Park, and can be visited accompanied by park rangers.

Climate
Curaçao has a hot, semi-arid Köppen climate classification BSh climate with a dry season from January to September and a wet season from October to December. Rainfall is scarce, only 450 millimeters (12 inches) per year; in particular, the rainy season is drier than it normally is in tropical climates; during the dry season, it almost never rains. Owing to the scarcity of rainfall, the landscape of Curaçao is arid; especially on the north coast of the island. Temperatures are relatively constant, with small differences measured throughout the year. The trade winds cool the island during the day and warm it at night. The coolest month is January with an average temperature of 26.6 °C or 80 °F; the hottest is September with an average temperature of 29.1 °C or 84 °F. The year's average maximum temperature is 31.4 °C or 89 °F. The year's average temperature is 25.7 °C or 78 °F. The seawater around Curaçao averages around 27 °C (81 °F) and is coolest (avg. 25.9 °C [78.6 °F]) from February to March, and hottest (avg. 28.2 °C [82.8 °F]) from September to October.

Because Curaçao lies North of the Intertropical Convergence Zone and in an area of low-level divergence where winds flow parallel to the coast, its climate is much drier than expected for the northeastern side of a continent at its latitude. Rainfall is also extremely variable from year to year, being strongly linked to the El Niño Southern Oscillation. Curaçao lies outside the Atlantic's Hurricane Alley but is still occasionally affected by hurricanes.

CURACAO! ???????? (30 BEST things to do, see, & eat! + Our Vlog)

We're visiting our second spot in the ABC islands, Curacao! Join us for a tour of Willemstad, interesting local cuisine, relaxation at the island's beautiful beaches, snorkeling & wildlife, and some cool history!

We hope it helps you in planning your own trip! :)

Things to do in & See Curacao:
1. Jan Thiel Beach - a small beach filled with resorts, restaurants, bars, and lounging areas available for rent!
2. Fort Beekenburg - a small fort built in 1703 to protect Caracasbaai from invaders. Free to visit and a super cool spot!
3. Quarantine House - Built in 1882 as quarantine station to isolate sailors who may have contracted yellow fever.
4. Tugboat View - Great views of Caracasbaai, Tug Boat, and Fort Beekenburg!
5. Director's Bay - A former private beach of the Shell Directors of the Dutch Royal Family. Now it is a public beach with the best snorkeling on the island! (in our opinion!) If you're a strong swimmer you can swim from Director's Bay to Tug Boat Beach (#29)
6. Punda Neighborhood (Willemstad) - A colorful, pedestrian-only neighborhood in Willemstad! There are many restaurants and shops to enjoy and tons of street art!
7. Punda Loves You Festival - An annual festival featuring music, art, and more!
8. Popcultr (Best Popsicles on the Island) - If you're visiting Curacao, go support this small business!! The popsicles were seriously legendary!
9. Round Market (Rund Market) - a covered stalls market. A great place to shop for souvenirs and try local food!
10. Floating Market - sailors used bring their boats from Venezuela to sell their produce and goods here.... unfortunately things have not been the same since covid!
11. Pietermaai Neighborhood (Willemstad) - a neighborhood with a bit of interesting history! Today it is a very trendy neighborhood, with old, derelict, buildings constantly being restored.
12. Queen Emma Bridge - a pontoon bridge connecting Punda to Otrobanda. The bridge is on a hinge that swings open!
13. Otrobanda Neighborhood (Willemstad) - another vibrant neighborhood! This one is a bit more local, but has better shopping! (in our opinion!)
14. Rif Fort - A historic fort dating back to the 19th century, that has been converted into an open shopping mall!
15. Playa Santa Cruz - We didn't film much here, but it is a local beach you can walk into and there is pretty good snorkeling!
16. Blue Room Cave - one of the must-sees in Curacao! The cave is located in a cliffside, you swim in, and it is illuminated blue! You can walk to the cave (we would recommend being fit and able to do a small amount of rock climbing) or catch a boat for $30USD pp!
17. Sint Michielsbaai - one of two locations to spot wild flamingos!
18. Sint Willibrodus - the second location to spot wild flamingos!
19. Santa Martha Bay Lookout - a quick stop and a great lookout over Curacao!
20. Playa Daaibooi - A beautiful and secluded bay surrounded by cliffs on either side, also a popular beach for scuba diving!
21. Playa Lagun - a small bay with an apartment complex and restaurant nearby on the cliffs!
22. Playa Jeremi - a locally popular beach, nothing but nature to enjoy there!
23. Local Cuisine at the Blue View Restaurant - when we asked the locals what to try.. they all said iguana and goat! So we try some BBQ iguana and stewed goat.. YUM!
24. Playa Piskado - the best place to see and swim with sea turtles in Curacao!
25. Grote Knip - a large, beautiful beach! Many argue that it is the best on the entire island!
26. Mambo Beach - another paid beach lined with resorts, night clubs, restaurants, and lounging areas for rent. There is also a large shopping area!
27. Sint Michiel - a former fishing village and relatively local area with a lot of new housing developments.
28. Fort Nassau - another fort, but this one has been transformed into a fancy restaurant with a view! You can still enter for the view without eating there though!
29. Tug Boat Beach - a beach with a sunken tugboat and great snorkeling!
30. La Boheme Restaurant - one of our favorite local restaurants! (and its SUPER affordable!)
