We start our journey in the far west of Cuba, at the tip of the tail of the crocodile-shaped island. Then, we head to the capital, Havana, to admire its splendour before continuing to the farming provinces of Sancti Spiritus and Camagüey.
Our journey will end in Baracoa, a place that Christopher Columbus nicknamed the most beautiful in the world.

Come with me as I explore Trinidad and chat to the locals about life on the island to find out what Cubans are protesting about? What's it like to live on the island? I start off buying a sombrero from a couple that have never left Trinidad and explain their difficulties in buying materials for their business. I then head to the local store to show the limited stock they have and how it's impossible for locals to buy anything because the stores don't accept the national currency. Ridiculous I know. After drinking a Cancanchara we get a bicycle taxi to the housing projects where tourists don't go to show a different side to Trinidad. We ascend a roof through a tiny hole and get shown photos of La Trova when the island was a popular tourist destination.

Jamaican culture seeped into the world thanks to reggae music. The Bahamas are a collection of islands full of unique experiences that everyone wants to see at least once. Barbados immediately conjures images of beautiful beaches (and, of course, hit singer, Rihanna).
Many of the Caribbean islands have clear waters full of marine life, but Cozumel wins over all the other best Caribbean islands to visit if you want to go snorkeling. It has the second-largest coral reef structure in the world. If you have children, try going to Aruba. Families can swim with the local wildlife and travel through its natural park. Bonaire and Curacoa are the other two parts of the ABC islands. They’re also full of natural wonders and unique architecture. Trade winds keep them comfortable. Their location is far away from the hurricane belt to keep them safe.
Are you the type of traveler who wants to go to the beach every day? You could do that for an entire year in Antigua and visit a new beach each time. The Caribbean has standout islands to visit if you came to eat. St. Martin is the culinary capital with seafood and open markets aplenty. Anguilla is full of delicious food, and at least two of its restaurants have won awards. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are great starter options if you’re an American. You won’t even have to get a passport. They’re easy to get to, but you’ll still feel like you’re on an adventure.

It’s a rather precarious task to decide upon the “most beautiful places in the Caribbean” when the region itself is renowned for its breathtaking beauty, but here goes.
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Caribbean many times over the years, and I’ve rarely been disappointed, but there are some Caribbean islands that I feel are especially worth visiting right now.
In looking at the most beautiful places in the Caribbean I wanted to cast my net pretty wide here, and that meant looking at eastern Caribbean Islands, western Caribbean Islands, southern Caribbean Islands and, you guessed it, northern Caribbean Islands.

After a recent journey throughout Cuba I soon became aware that I was disconnected from the outside world and filled with Cuba's cultural richness.
The song choice Stay Alive by José González and also the soundtrack to The secret life of Walter Mitty symbolises the day to day struggles of Cuban life. The ticking of a clock throughout the song relates to the film title The Island Lost In Time.

The island of Guadeloupe is a Caribbean paradise where the French successfully mixed with the Creoles. The name of the capital Pointe-à-Pitre goes back to a Dutch fisherman named Peter, who settled here in 1654. The island excursion leads first to Basse-Terre, the southern part of the dual island, right inside the rainforest. Afterwards we visit the village of Mourne-À-L'eau on Grand Terre.
The island of Antigua with its capital St. John's is the largest of the Leeward Islands, which form the northern end of the Lesser Antilles.
The Caribbean island of Hispaniola in the Greater Antilles consists of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. They inhabit a tropical world. The Arawak Indians named the island, ‘Hayti’, Land Of Mountains, and later Columbus changed the name to „Hispanola“, but it has always been ‘The Gateway To Caribbean Paradise’.
Jamaica with its capital Kingston. This former Pirate stronghold is a lively mixture of joie de vivre and reggae music. In 1502 Christopher Columbus landed here on the north coast, during his fourth journey to the New World.
Cuba with its capital Havana, the Caribbean metropolis that for many decades has been so little loved and so badly neglected. The queen of the Antilles - in a country that lies between sun and socialism - between Rumba and Revolution.
New Providence Island with its capital Nassau is one of more than 700 islands in the Bahamian archipelago, as well as Exuma and Sand Cay islands.
