The most haunted hotel, car forest and open air museums - is this the weirdest road trip in America?! G and I took a road trip along Nevada's Highway 95, between Reno and Las Vegas, and encountered all things weird (and amazing) on the way. This included ghost towns like Rhyolite, the international car forest of the last church, Tonopah, Nevada and the haunted Mizpah hotel, desert hot springs, huge Joshua trees, Death Valley, and more.

JACKPOT NEVADA to LAS VEGAS on US HIGHWAY 93 - Scenic Sunday Drive
Today's Scenic Sunday Drive takes place in eastern Nevada, primarily along US Highway 93 and Nevada Highway 318, between the Idaho state line at Jackpot to Las Vegas; a drive of approximately 450 miles.
We'll start with a cruise through Jackpot, Nevada on US Highway 93.
Next we'll drive to Ely, where we'll take the shortcut on US Highway 6 and Nevada Highway 318; a 135 mile shortcut that saves 40 miles!
Finally, we'll arrive in Las Vegas.

Here's a look at the drive on US Highway 95, northbound from Tonopah to Hawthorne, Nevada. What I love about this drive is when you leave Tonopah, there's a billboard for the McDonald's in Hawthorne, proclaiming it's Just Ahead!. But Just Ahead actually means 100 miles -- totally worth it, though, for a McFlurry.

I made this trip in June 2018. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).
