How to Cross International Borders with Motorcycle? The easiest way!

Top 10 Tips How to cross international borders.

The Essential Guide to Any Motorcycle Traveler - Online Course:

1. Preparation
I will use again my favourite phrase – the preparation is the key of success. Yes, guys, the time you going spend before the trip, will help you during the trip. It’s never been so easy. We have internet, Google, Youtube, Facebook motorcycle forums and many more

2. Documents
In some countries yon will need visa. Your passport must have minimum 6 month valid period to be able to receive it. Do not forget that you take your driver license and the title of your motorcycle.

3. Motorcycle and luggage
Your motorcycle has to look as normal safe vehicle. Make sure that you have lights, indicators and there are no leaks of oil or petrol. Pack your luggage carefully.

4. Behaviour
You have to behave as normal and respectful person. Some of you guys saw me many times to overtake or split the lanes on the border, but I never do it in front of the border police eyes. They have seen almost anything you can imagine. To be arrogant or noisy will not help you at all. They have rights to hold you as longer they decide and even not let you to go in. Be flexible and respond regarding the situation.

5. Corruption
In some countries this is still a problem or I would say it’s like tradition. We have a word for this in Bulgaria – it doesn't matter how expensive are the cigarettes we will smoke and it doesn't matter how cheap is the petrol we will steal. Some things cannot be change, don’t even try. It will be like mission impossible and will cost you a lot of waiting hours at the border

6. Customs regime.
In Europe is easy, no borders. You just fly from country to country without any problems. Only the information signs change their language, but outside of Europe is different story. In most of the borders you have to fill a form for preliminary import. It is basically declaration from you that entering into the country with a curtain motorcycle, brand, model, year of production, VIN number and so on. You have to sign it and you are free to go. Of course you will receive a copy which one you have to keep until you leave the country, with the same bike.
Important!!! You cannot leave the country without the bike!!! Do not even try, you will be arrested. .

7. Money
In most of the borders the amount you can carry in cash, without declare it is 10,000 Dollars. If you have more than that make sure that you tell the border police. If not and they found it later, they have the full right to confiscate it. In some countries they might ask to see and check your cash, because they are looking for fake notes. Don’t worry it is a standard practise and they will not steal your money.

8. Insurance
In Europe you don’t need anything else then your green card. The rest of the countries has different regulations. For Russia for example you cannot receive Visa without insurance, but in many other countries they will ask you to make it on the border. It’s usually cost between 10 and 30 dollars for one month period.

9. Weapons
As you can guess you are not allowed to carry any firearms, but you can have a knife. In Germany for example you can carry a knife only if it’s less than 12 sm and it is foldable blade. Just keep that in mind. I have heard about the cases where the riders kept signal pistol and crossed many borders without any problems, but I never tried.

10. Alcohol and cigarettes and drugs
You are allowed to carry only one litter alcohol and ten packs of cigarettes per person. If you are group and some of the members do not have you can split it and take more. Dima, for example always keep the important handmade alcohol in a petrol can and the border police never asked what is this. I don’t need to remind you that to carry drugs through the borders is forbidden.

Motorcycle riding in beautiful Pakistan

DAY 164, 165 & 166
Riding around on the Deosai Plains, a 4100m plateau in Pakistan, visiting the lake. Then descending 2000m in order to climb back up a few meters to arrive at the hotel. Next day I went to explore Rama lake and met a glacier there. It was cold but I hiked anyway. Then I was super late and started riding to Naran, I needed to cross Babusar Top before it closed. Made it right in time and ended the day with some beautiful sunshine. The day after I needed to pick up my Indian visa at the embassy but I wass still 250km away from Islamabad so I kept strict on time, but did I make it?

Crossing Pakistan - three weeks of adventure on a KTM 640

A summary of the three most adventurous weeks in our lives so far.
Altough the slightly unstable security situation was shadowing the whole experience a bit, we really enjoyed our time there!
Some of the very best people we met on the entire 232 days of our trip, were from Pakistan! Thanks to all of them for making it a really unforgettable experience, especially our friends in Lahore deserve all the gratitude we can give them!

Illegal Border Crossing

Bangladesh is almost completely surrounded by India... there's just a tiny
bit of Myanmar in the mix and the ocean. Shawn and I went up to the
northern part to look out over India and see the Himalayas... Apparently
it's possible when the fog burns off... Unfortunately today was not one of
those days. So I woke up at 5am to take a cramped 3 hour car ride on some
bumpy roads to look at fog... Luckily we also passed by one of India's land
borders where we hopped into India for a quick self guided tour through a
tea garden... Pretty sweet.
This is part of my Bangladesh trip. I went to Bangladesh for 3 months to
document the building of a school with Shawn (Uncultured Project). If you
want to learn more about that project if you use the link below to his
youtube channel all the details are there. The majority of the trip on this
channel is cell phone videos of certain moments...

Deadliest Journeys - Pakistan

Bicycle tour in pakistan

A crazy 70 year old Aussie motorcycles through Pakistan.

Beloved Bones from Australia shows us why he loves Pakistan.

The heart is an infinite map. There is no end to exploring the dusty roads of the world, there is no end to time if you live every minute like it means something truly special. You’re immortal because you’re the earth, you’re the sky, you’re the motorcycle prints in the mountain dust, you’re the smiles of the strangers you meet along the way. Age and money? These are just numbers, and there is no room for their mathematics in the great art of travel. Get out there, have fun, be kind and God bless you all! - A Khan
