When you travel and pay to stay at a Large Hotel chain you expect it to be clean right? Well unfortunately that isn't the case these days and that was definitely true for our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Odessa, TX while we were traveling back from San Diego, CA after going through Hospice with my Dad. After driving all day beginning at 7 am we finally found a room in Odessa and unfortunately it was not what we expected! I'll let the video review do the talking but we can say do not stay here if you are looking for a clean Hotel and a good nights rest. You will end up being aggravated and if the Manager didn't fix it for us chances are they won't fix it for you.

Worst RV Campground Ever // (And How we Saved our Weekend!)
***SHADY GROVE CAMPGROUND, DENVER PA***
One of our biggest camping fears came to life this past weekend as we pulled into possibly the worlds worst RV campground. While the spots were tight, the sewer connections were not and we found ourselves in a bad camping situation pretty quickly.
After a confusing run in with some of the seasonal campers, we decided it wasn't worth the stress we had to save our weekend - and in this case we only had one option. To hook our Shadow Cruiser Travel Trailer back up and head home.
Currently holding the record for our shortest camping trip (19 hours between check in and check out) it taught us a lot about vetting campgrounds, when to call it quits, and what red flags to look out for when looking for a place to camp with our travel trailer.

HOPI SALT TRAIL | Backpacking the Grand Canyon's Aqua Blue Oasis
Overnight hiking and backpacking down the Hopi Canyon Salt Trail to the Little Colorado River. This is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done in my life, and it is one that 100% needs to get added to your hiking and travel bucket list if you're up for it!

Hiking Crystal Cove State Park's El Moro Loop Trail in Laguna Beach
Crystal Cove State Park is a beautiful area with 3 miles of coastline and lots of great hiking trails. I headed out on the El Moro Loop Trail which goes through a nice canyon and up to a ridge line that provides great views of the ocean. It's a great orange county hike and there is a nice beach that you can relax at when you finish.

Cove Ranch Low Pass Inspection and Landing 11-18-2018
Sometimes critters make their way onto this strip so I wanted to inspect the runway before landing. To do that requires coming down from the top through the canyon. Otherwise, you'd be flying up into a box canyon. That would be a bad idea. Circling above the canyon doesn't necessarily give a good enough perspective. There are two alarms heard. One is a terrain alert and the other is a gear unsafe alarm. It's a steep descent. I descended with the throttle fully closed, full flaps, and wanted the gear to remain tucked away. That condition triggers an alarm to help the pilot remember that the gear is up if a landing is underway. I retracted the flaps at the bottom of the canyon and the the gear alarm was silenced.
