Is Street Food in Delhi Good? // India Travel Vlog

We took a street food tour in Chandni Chowk with A Chef's Tour and ate so much Indian food! We navigated the very busy streets of Old Delhi to try dahi bhalla for the first time, eat sweet paan, try pani puri, drink masala chai tea for the first time in India, try lemon soda, eat roti, and try so many more street foods!

If you want to book the same tour with A Chef's Tour, click here!:

Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the best place to try Indian street food because so many of the shops have been around for more than 100 years. They are passed down from generation to generation and the recipes are perfected through the years. The popularity of these food stalls also makes them a really safe place for foreigners to eat because the food is eaten so constantly that the ingredients are always fresh and delicious!

This video shows our first time eating Indian street food and in it we visit Chandni Chowk and it's world famous spice market. Although New Delhi is a great place to visit in Delhi, we highly recommend taking the time to try the street food in Old Delhi like we did in this video! We would suggest going with a guide so you can learn about the dishes, try all the best foods, and be confident that you are eating at places that won't end in a stomach ache!

We cannot recommend A Chef's Tour more highly if you are trying to decide which food tour company to book with. Our guide, Gajendra, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the food scene in Delhi and did an incredible job at pacing our tour so that we didn't get too full to enjoy the food!

Palak Paneer (पालक पनीर) at Standard's Punjabi Khana in Delhi, India

I'll admit, Palak Paneer (पालक पनीर) may not be the most attractive Indian dish, but it sure tastes delicious. More information here -

There are countless restaurants to eat at in Delhi, India, but sometimes it's nice to just stumble into popular restaurants. When you see a big crown hanging out around a parking lot or street side, most of the time you can be assured they are serving something delicious. One day when I was in Delhi, India, I had to run some errands around Nehru Place, one of the main IT shopping hubs of the city. While strolling around, we noticed a restaurants called Standard's Punjabi Khana that was serving a ton of people lunch. The crowd was huge, and I immediately felt a need to eat whatever what being served.

The mostly Punjabi food North Indian cuisine served at Standard's includes palak paneer (पालक पनीर), shahi paneer, dal makhani, and a few other vegetarian dishes. I chose the palak paneer, which is a thick puree of spinach that's simmered along with spices and lots of ghee. It's basically a spinach gravy or curry sauce. Paneer is a popular form of cheese that tastes somewhere between cottage cheese and tofu - and it's extremely delicious. People that eat vegetarian Indian food often eat paneer cheese quite frequently as a source of fat and protein. Anyway, as soon as I ordered my single plate of food, the vendor quickly scooped me up a fresh plate of rice topped with a huge spoon or the curry and a massive chunk of paneer cheese. It was then self service to grab my own toppings of red onions and a small fresh salad of red onions and radishes and chillies. Overall, it wasn't the best palak paneer (पालक पनीर) that I've ever had, but I will say that it was quite good and overall it was very cheap. Perhaps there were so many people there because the food was relatively good and the full meals (at 45 - 55 Indian Rupees) were quite affordable.

Though my entire palak paneer meal at Standard's Punjabi Khana in Delhi was fully vegetarian, it wasn't light by any stretch of the imagination. It was heavy and I nearly felt the need to immediately take a nap after finishing my last bite of the meal. Don't go out of your way to eat here, but if you're in the area and looking for some decent and cheap Indian Delhi street food, check it out!

Top 10 Indian Street Foods in Amritsar, India | The BEST INDIAN Street Food in Amritsar

???? WATCH: Punjabi Street Food
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

Back in November of 2018, I spent three weeks eating my way through seven incredible cities in India with my friend Sam from Samuel and Audrey. The third city of our trip was Amritsar, a city that’s known for its rich dairy dishes. These are my top 10 Indian street foods in Amritsar, India!

1. Kulcha (Pehalwan Kulcha Shop)

Kulcha is a buttery flatbread that is served with a chickpea dish called chole masala and a tamarind sauce that’s loaded with onions. The ghee, chole, and tamarind together was an epic flavor combination!

2. Paneer Bhurji (Tara Chand)

Paneer Bhurji is a buttery cottage cheese and vegetable dish that is served with two slices of bread, mint chutney, tamarind sauce, and onions. It almost tastes like buttery scrambled eggs!

3. Lassi (Giani Punjabi Lassi)

Lassi is a creamy, yogurt-based drink that you usually have at the end of a meal. The Amritsari version adds a pat of butter and a big dollop of cream, making it a rich, decadent, Indian milkshake!

4. Palak Paneer (Kesar de Dhaba)

Palak Paneer is a popular spinach and cottage cheese dish that’s loaded with fragrant and delicious spices. The 100-year-old recipe at Kesar de Dhaba is out of this world! The combination of cheese, spinach, and spices was heavenly!

5. Maa Ki Dal (Kesar de Dhaba)

Maa Ki Dal is a sweet and earthy lentil dish that is slow-cooked at Kesar de Dhaba for twelve hours in a huge pot. It has a nice layer of fat on top and creamy ghee flavor throughout. It’s my favorite dal in India!

6. Masala Chai (Street Vendor)

There’s always room for chai! Chai is a milky, tea-based drink that is often infused with warming spices like cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. It’s served piping hot and is the best thing to drink in India!

7. Langar Food (Golden Temple)

The world-famous Golden Temple in Amritsar contains a langar, or free kitchen, that feeds 100,000 people of all faiths, creeds, and backgrounds every day. You can taste the love that the volunteers put into the maa ki dal, chickpea chole, roti, and kheer. It’s one of the most inspiring places in all of India!

8. Amritsari Punjabi Thali (Bharawan Da Dhaba)

The best thali you’ll find in Amritsar is served at Bharawan Da Dhaba, another century-old restaurant in the city. Their sweet and earthy dal, huge chunks of paneer, rich chole, and sweet and spicy mango curry are out of this world!

9. Kebabs (Sarhad Restaurant)

The kebabs at Sarhad Restaurant near the Pakistani border are on another level! Their tender and juicy Chicken Seekh Kebab is so soft, it reminded me of poached chicken. You also must try the Dahi Ka Kebab, which is a fried, potato fritter-like patty with yogurt inside that’s served with phenomenal mint chutney. It’s insanely delicious!

10. Mutton Curry (Sarhad Restaurant)

Last but not least is the mutton curry at Sarhad Restaurant. I am a mutton fiend and have eaten it all over the world, but this one is easily one of the best mutton dishes in the world! The tender and buttery meat is served in a rich and aromatic curry and practically melts in your mouth. It’s so yummy and is the perfect way to cap off my list of the top 10 Indian street foods in Amritsar!

Indian Street Food - KING of CHICKEN TIKKA!! | Best North Indian Restaurants in Bangkok!!

???? South Indian Food Tour in Bangkok:
???? SUBSCRIBE: Don’t miss new food videos!

BANGKOK, THAILAND - Today we’re going on a tour to eat the best North Indian food, especially Punjab food, in Bangkok, Thailand. We’re going to eat everything from street food in Pahurat to Indian fine dining. Get ready for an ultimate Indian food experience in Bangkok, Thailand!

We’re starting this tour in Pahurat, which is known as Bangkok’s Little India. Surrounding the main Siri Guru Singh Sabha Sikh Temple, you’ll find narrow alleys and lanes with lots of street food and hole in the wall restaurants.

Punjab Sweets ( - Just down the alley outside of India Emporium is Punjab Sweets a 30 year shop selling sweets and Indian food - especially dishes like chole bhatura. It’s a great place to hang out for a morning tea and their chole bhatura is the real highlight. The owner was also really nice and gave us a place of their famous sweets to try. Prices - 100 - 150 THB ($2.99 - $4.48)

Just outside Punjab Sweets is a great stall to try Paan - 10 THB ($0.30)

Samosa Corner ( - I believe it’s one of the only samosa street food stalls in Bangkok that’s been serving delicious samosas and pakoras for 45 years. You don’t want to miss it when you’re in Pahurat. Price - 70 THB ($2.09) for 5

Amritsr ( - Next up on this North Indian food tour in Bangkok we went to Amritsr, specializing in Punjabi cuisine, especially Amritsari dishes. This is the type of restaurant where you’ll find a huge menu of dishes, and you can’t really go wrong. They have a huge section of dishes cooked in the tandoor, and my favorite was the achari tikka, one of the greatest ever. They also have the entire range of North Indian thick and rich curry’s. Highly recommended for some of the best North Indian restaurants in Bangkok. Prices - 200 - 400 THB ($5.97 - $11.95) per dish

Punjab Grill ( - Finally to complete this North Indian food tour in Bangkok, we went to Punjab Grill, a contemporary North Indian restaurant that serves authentic and modern dishes. Their lamb dishes are particularly delicious and I also loved their incredible tandoori prawns. You can order a la carte, and they also offer a tasting menu, as a fine dining experience, and a buffet brunch on Sundays. Prices - 400 - 800 THB ($11.95 - $23.89) per dish

It was an amazing time eating through Bangkok, at some of the best North Indian restaurants!

19 Indian STREET FOOD Dishes You HAVE TO TRY in 2019 - The BEST Indian Street Food

During my time to India, I learned that Indian street food is about as diverse as cuisines come, making the country a culinary paradise. I’ve eaten nearly 200 Indian dishes there, but I wanted to share only the very best with you today. These are the 19 Indian street food dishes you have to try in 2019!

My Film Making Kit ►

1. Butter Chicken (Aslam Chicken Corner – Delhi)

This fatty, non-traditional version consists of a crispy, roasted chicken that is swimming in melted butter and spices, but don’t let that keep you away from this phenomenal dish!

2. Buffalo Biryani (Mohd Tofiq – Delhi)

The buffalo meat in this layered rice dish was incredibly tender and juicy. The sauce, mixed in with the various spices in the rice, had me in Indian food heaven!

3. Bedai (GMB – Agra)

Bedai consists of a puffy flatbread called a puri and a potato curry with cottage cheese. The herbs and spices in the puri made for a sensational combination with the curry’s slight heat. It took it to a whole new level!

4. Kabab (Tunday Kababi – Lucknow)

These flavorful, spice-filled meatballs were soft and contrasted beautifully with the paratha and onions I had them with. Easily one of my favorite meatballs of all time!

5. Chura Matar (Deena Chat – Varanasi)

This light and fresh dish is made of rice, vegetables, chilies, and spices. The flavors and textures were outstanding and I highly recommend it!

6. Gatte Ki Sabzi (Jaipur)

This mouthwatering curry is made of chickpea flour dumplings in a spicy gravy. I tried it alongside Daal, Aloo Pyaz Sabji, and Bejad Ki Roti. The spiciness and different textures made this a standout!

7. Rajasthani Thali (Torba – Jaipur)

This thali consisted of crumbled bread mixed with curries and yogurts. It wasn’t too spicy, but was packed with an unreal amount of flavor I couldn’t get enough of!

8. Mutton Burger (Samode Palace – Samode)

This was a very fresh sheep meat burger that was topped with cheese, tomatoes, onion, and lettuce. It was almost like a delicious chicken burger!

9. Chicken Lollipop (Mohammad Ali Road – Mumbai)

This is a fried chicken drumstick that is bathed in a delicious, bright red curry. It was very flavorful, especially with the ginger sauce it came with!

10. Pani Puri (Elco – Mumbai)

This puri, or hollow bread ball, is filled with a light curry that can include potatoes, vegetables, and spices. This one had a minty flavor I couldn’t get enough of!

11. Paneer Chilli (Juhu Beach – Mumbai)

This dish is made up of a cottage cheese called paneer that is served with a sauce and lots vegetables. Like many other dishes I tried, it wasn’t super spicy, but was exploding with delicious flavor.

12. Bahubali Thali (House of Paratha – Pune)

This thali, which consists of an enormous, stuffed paratha and over a dozen side dishes, is remarkably flavorful and varied in its textures. It’s big, but it’s also outstanding!

13. Pizza Dosa/Szechwan Cream Dosa (Ram Ki Bandi – Hyderabad)

The Italian-inspired pizza dosa is spicy and cheesy with a cooling coconut chutney and the Chinese-inspired Szechwan Cream Dosa is sweeter with a nice amount of heat. I highly recommend both!

14. Veg Biryani (Paradise Restaurant – Hyderabad)

The spices in the rice, coupled with the yellow curry, paneer, and vegetables, made this one of my favorite biryanis ever!

15. Paneer Bhurji (Tara Chand – Amritsar)

This buttery, creamy cottage cheese dish with vegetables and masala is like cheesy scrambled eggs, without the eggs!

16. Floating Pani Puri (VV Puram Food Street – Bengaluru)

This spicy, bright, and fresh variation of pani puri is served in a large amount of jaljeera water. It was phenomenal!

17. Fried Squid with Curries (Chennai Beach – Chennai)

This spicy, briny, and flavorful seafood dish is packed with herbs and spices and had my taste buds going wild!

18. Kathi Rolls (Nizams – Kolkata)

These fatty, grilled kebabs wrapped around a chewy paratha are out of this world! The meat is moist and flavorful and I can’t rave about it enough!

19. Gujarati Thali (Agashiya – Ahmedabad)

The rice, lentil, veggie, and eggplant dishes in this thali were full of contrasting flavors and textures that had my taste buds going wild!

Eating INDIAN CHINESE FOOD in Queens with MY COUSIN Paulina!! NYC

???? PAULINA:
???????? TANGRA ASIAN FUSION:
???????? SHI KAI & JOY:

While I had explored quite a bit of Indian food so far on my trip to New York City, I hadn’t had much Indo-Chinese food. I decided to remedy that by heading out to Queens to eat some of this savory and unique fusion food. Come with me as I try Indian Chinese food in Queens, NYC!

For this epic food adventure, I linked up with my cousin Paulina to take her to Tangra Asian Fusion, which serves delicious Indo-Chinese food! Indo-Chinese cuisine originates in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Chinese people who immigrated to Kolkata brought their food with them, but started making them using Indian ingredients and spices!

✈️ CHECK OUT MY TRAVEL BLOG:
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

The owners of the restaurant are from Kolkata and Darjeeling. They make everything from chow to momos, which are dishes I’ve enjoyed in northeast India! The restaurant is named after the Tangra region in East Kolkata, which was home to many people of Hakka Chinese origin.

Inside, it looked like a traditional Chinese restaurant. We met with Shi Kai, Yulan, and Ina, and then headed into the kitchen to meet Chef Peter. He made us some Tangra Masala Soup, chicken lollipops, mango lassi!

The Tangra Masala Soup is like an egg drop soup with sriracha, chicken, shrimp, cilantro, and tofu, and the lollypop chicken is a chicken wing where they remove the second bone, push all the meat to one end, and batter and deep-fry it.

The mango lassi was tasty and not too thick, with fresh pieces of mango on top. The soup had the perfect amount of spice. It’s tangy without being overbearing, and is full of flavor. The lightly fried chicken lollipops came with a creamy orange sauce and was crispy and herbal. It was so good!

Back in the kitchen, they made us a few more dishes, including a sweet and spicy Georgia chicken with sesame seeds; chili chicken with ginger, garlic, and onions; fusion tacos with chicken; gobi salt and pepper; a sweet and spicy Szechwan paneer, Tangra masala fried rice with shrimp, and chicken momos with green chutney.

I learned that chilies, garlic, and ginger are the main ingredients in Indo-Chinese cuisine! First, we jumped on the fusion tacos, which contained an incredible tzatziki sauce that made my mouth water!

Next were the momos with cilantro chutney that was almost like a Mexican salsa. Next were the Thai basil noodles with chicken, shrimp, and beef. I could smell the chilies in it! I loved the chewy and refreshing glass noodles and spring onion! They weren’t too spicy, either!

Then, we jumped on the Georgia chicken, which contained a lot of cinnamon! We also tried a mojito with mint. Then, we tried the fried cauliflower with chilies and the tangra masala fried rice. The rice contained chilies, egg, peas, onions, and shrimp and was pretty mild.

The chili chicken had a dry sauce and contained chili seeds. It was really tasty! Then, we tried the Szechwan paneer, which is cubed cottage cheese. It’s dense and the cheese balances otu the spice level of the Szechwan masala.

We ended our meal with chai kulfi with cardamom and saffron, and rose kulfi. The chai one was amazing and also contained cinnamon. The rose contained raisins and was a little fruity. They were both amazing! The chai reminded me of a coffee ice cream!
