This cinematic film is a selection of memories during 3 weeks into the wild of Costa Rica in 2016. We crossed the country from north to south and east to west my girl and I. Costa Rica (Central-America) Vacation Travel Video Guide

✱ 4.703 Hotels in Costa Rica - Lowest Price Guarantee ►

Travel video about destination Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a fascinating country in Central America bordered by Nicaragua and Panama, a natural paradise between the Caribbean and the Pacific.Located at more than a thousand metres above sea level, San José, Costa Rica’s capital city, not only boasts an idyllic location in the heart of Central America’s coffee country, but also an enviable climate. The extent to which Costa Rica joins with European tradition can be seen in the Teatro Nacional. The coffee barons, to whom the glorious development of San José is owed, created taxes for the export of coffee beans and thus funded the construction of the magnificent building. In a fertile mountain valley at the foot of a volcano, is Turrialba, a town that radiates a serene calm but once was an important station on the route of the Jungle Train from San José to the Atlantic coast. The crater of the Poas Volcano is surrounded by the dense green of a rainforest and overlooks the north western Meseta Central. Although it is one of the country’s most active volcanoes, it is the most visited, as visitors can go by car almost to the edge of the crater. The Rain Forest Aerial Tram is Costa Rica’s most popular tourist attraction, a ride on an open gondola through the jungle. A journey of discovery amid a canopy of trees, hovering at treetop level through the solitude of nature. Fascinating nature, joie de vivre and colonial history are omnipresent on this land bridge between North and South America, Costa Rica is surely one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Jaco, Costa Rica Travel Guide (Driving & Aerial video) August 2022

Jaco is a popular surfing beach town, 1.5 hours from the SJO Airport. See what it's like in our video!
JACO COSTA RICA GUIDE:
THINGS TO DO IN JACO:

Video taken July 2022

TRANSCRIPT

Hey guys, it's Samantha and thank you for joining us here on the Mytanfeet Youtube channel. In this video, we are going to show you the town and beach of Jaco. Right now we are entering Jaco from the north end of the beach, going past the Costa Linda condos.

Jaco is the biggest and most developed beach town in Costa Rica, having gained popularity for its excellent consistent surfing waves and for its close proximity to San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica.

At this point we have turned onto the main road through Jaco town that runs parallel to the beach called Pastor Diaz Avenue. The beach town is a city beach town with all the services and amenities like restaurants, banks, pharmacies, clinics, supermarkets, car rentals, info centers, tour desks, bus stations and much more.

As Jaco is only 98 kilometers or 61 miles from San Jose, many locals come to this beach on the weekends and holidays as it's only about a 1.5 hour drive on Highway Route 27 and 34. Likewise, many tourists choose to visit Jaco because it's so close to the city and the main international airport. There are lots of hotels, hostels and vacation rentals at all different price points to choose from and many beachfront lodging options.
The food scene in Jaco is one of the best in Costa Rica with tons of international and local options at reasonable prices so Jaco is an excellent destination in Costa Rica to stay for a few days or to use a homebase for your entire trip.

As Jaco is located in the Puntarenas province on the Central Pacific coast, it has a year round tropical rainforest climate. The surrounding mountains are always green thanks to the rainforest humidity and nearby Tarcoles River, so Jaco is home to a lot of wildlife such as Scarlet Macaws, toucans and monkeys.

Jaco has a ton of fun things to do for all travelers such as hiking, birdwatching, waterfalls, ATV tours, ziplining, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and river boat rides. It also has a lively nightlife so you can be adventuring in the jungle during the day and then dancing the night away with new friends at night. However, Jaco is known for its great surfing waves, so if you visit, we highly recommend to take a lesson. The beach has several breaks so whether you're a beginner, intermediate or weekend warrior surfer, there will be waves for everyone.

Another reason to visit Jaco is its close proximity to many amazing natural attractions and national parks. Some of the best day trips from Jaco are Manuel Antonio National Park, which is a 1.5 hr drive, Carara National Park, which is a 25 minute drive and Nauyaca Waterfalls which is a 2hr drive.

Like a typical beach in the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Jaco beach has dark sand with some rocky areas and dark blue waters. You can't snorkel off the shore of Jaco beach and you need to be careful if you swim due to rip tides.
However, since the beach is 4 kilometers or 2.5 miles long, a walk on the beach during sunset is a must do in Jaco.

You can also visit many other beaches from Jaco. Just south of Jaco is Playa Hermosa, which is considered to be the national stadium of surfing as this beach has some of the biggest and best waves for pro surfers and many international and national surf competitions are held at Playa Hermosa. North of Jaco is Playa Herradura, which is home to the famous Los Suenos marina and resort. You can also visit many of the more local beaches in the area such as Bejuco, Esterillos and Agujas.

The best time to visit Jaco would be during the dry season, which is typically December through April. This is Costa Rica's summer so you'll have fantastic weather and clear skies all day. However, you can also visit Jaco in the rainy season which is May through November and you will still have a great time. The rainy season is actually usually a little less crowded and a little cheaper but you just need to be a bit more prepared for rain.

You can visit Jaco with or without a car. If you visit without a car, book a hotel that's in town or close to the action so that you're in walking distance. Then for any excursions or day trips, there are tour operators that include roundtrip transportation from Jaco.

If you have a car, you will be able to explore much more of the area. Either way, you will have a fantastic time in Jaco whether you're there for a night or two or for a week or more. Visitors love that there is always something going on in Jaco and that it has a very strong local scene, so that you can experience the best of what Jaco is known for.
