PUERTO VIEJO, AN AFFORDABLE VACATION! (COSTA RICA)
Puerto Viejo is a much cheaper Caribbean vacation alternative than any place I visited in all of the Caribbean side of Mexico. I made videos from Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Akumal, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum and Mahahual which covered the whole Quintana Roo coast of Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula. I could not stay for as cheap in any of those locations compared to Puerto Viejo. I also traveled along the Oaxaca coast in Mexico and could not stay for as cheap there even in the famous place of Puerto Escondido and Huatulco. Puerto Viejo is a hidden paradise in my opinion.
The rest of Costa Rica had been expensive but the Carribean side was much cheaper than any place i visited in Costa Rica.
The guesthouse where I stayed was called Veronicas Place in Puerto Viejo. Also check skyscanner.com for cheap flights.

Unlike other towns in Costa Rica which are packed with tourists, Puerto Viejo is laid back, has fewer tourists and is the ideal place for naturalists, yogis, sun lovers and those who seek to be one with nature. Pura Gula Restaurant: fantastic Spanish inspired food, romantic atmosphere. Make reservations ahead of time. The seared ahi tuna and pad thai was da bomb.

in this video we are visiting Cahuita and Puerto Viejo at the caribbean coast. we did a walk at the Cahuita national park from the Puerto Vargas entrance to the cape/point of Puerto Vargas and back to our rental car. But the best would have been a round trip, starting around 9.00 at one of the two entrance and do the 8,3 km walk on your pace. The cape / point is great for a rest and swim. Be aware of the coral and occasional currents ! For the way back just get a taxi or a bus…at the Puerto Vargas entrance is a bus station. Just ask at the Ranger Station for the schedule. Don’t hike the way back on the main road…its way to hot !
when you do a stop at Bri Bri waterfall, coming from the seaside, just before the bridge is a little privat uphill road of 50m that leads to a privat house with „parking space“ for 4-5 cars.

For a little tip you can park here safely and after the waterfall you can by here a cold coco nut. Ask the owner for the little frogs … you will find them on the way down to the waterfall.
Puerto Viejo, we just had a short stay and stroll in town. We went to the Punta Uva beach and the La Sirena Restaurant for lunch…relaxing day and beautiful beach.

Welcome to PUERTO VIEJO! Costa Rica's Hidden Gem
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a bit of an undiscovered beach town gem on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
We spent a day showing you around starting out with our great open air AirBNB in the middle of the jungle just outside of the town.
We then heading into town, walking along Black Beach (Playa Negra), flying our drone while we go. On our way into town we discover in old barge in the water, sunken to create a breakwater.
After walking along the water for awhile, we head into town to get some lunch and find a cute cafe/bookstore called Cafe Rico.
Afterwards we head back to the water where we spot a sunken sailing ship just off the shore.

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a town in southeast Costa Rica, on the Caribbean coast. It’s known for the Salsa Brava surf break and beaches like black-sand Playa Negra. The Jaguar Rescue Center rehabilitates wild cats and other animals. Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge has rainforest, wetlands and mangroves. To the north, Cahuita National Park protects a large coral reef and has a shipwreck dive site.
Puerto Viejo is the largest tourist destination on Costa Rica's small Caribbean coast. Other nearby communities are Cahuita, Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo . The vibe here is laid-back, Caribbean-style with a great diversity of people living here and visiting here.
Playa Negra, the paradise for surfers.
Known for its world-class waves and breaks, Playa Negra is a surfer's paradise. Famous as the filming location for the cult classic, Endless Summer II, this beach sits along the northwestern region of Guanacaste along the northern Pacific coast. But this small beach community has more to offer than just its surfing breaks. From great hotels, resorts and budget lodges to renowned cafes and local delicacies, Playa Negra has a little something to offer every visitor. Enjoy the laid-back Tico lifestyle here while escaping the hustle of other surf-centric communities along the Pacific Coast. Those staying here will also be just a short drive away from Marino Las Baulas National Park, which is a famous nesting ground for the leatherback turtles.

PUERTO VIEJO de Talamanca | The BEST beaches in Costa Rica
Puerto Viejo was our favorite stop in Costa Rica. The beaches were so beautiful and the people so friendly. Our favorite beach was Punta Uva with the soft white sand. While Puerto Viejo is not the easiest place to get to, it was definitely worth the bus drive. After hearing howler monkeys all day long we finally spotted some playing in the trees. It was our first monkey sighting of the trip but most certainly not the last.

Costa Rica's Cahuita National Park: A Free Paradise ????????
Our final stop in Costa Rica was at Cahuita National Park, a gem of a paradise on the Caribbean Coast. Entrance to Cahuita is completely free (however, you can donate to the park, if you so desire to), and the Caribbean beach offers pristine white sands and crystal clear waters. We arrived early in the morning around 8 A.M., and Cahuita felt nearly like a private beach, because no one else was around! After a relaxing morning on the beach, we ate our last Costa Rican meal and headed back to San Jose, Costa Rica, for a long travel day to our next country. ????????

Puerto Viejo is an idyllic town on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. We spent 3 days here and explored the area with all the beaches and the Cahuita National Park. Jungle, wildlife & beautiful beaches.
We really like the area around #Cahuita and the Cahuita National Park is really beautiful. Here we were again able to observe some great animals, such as raccoons, monkeys, lizards and #sloths .
We can definitely recommend #puertoviejo for animal watching.
For us it is again a big highlight to see animals in the wild, which we have never seen live and in real life before!
