Cook Islands Vacation Travel Guide - Things to Do and See in Cook Islands

The Cook Islands is a collection of 15 islands spread over 2 million square kilometers in the Pacific Ocean. Although the islands have the name of a British explorer from the 18th century, Polynesians have lived there since 1000 CE.

These days, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and swimming are all possible in the calm, clear seas surrounding this tropical paradise. You can stay in one of the many luxurious resorts if that's your style, or you can head to one of the more distant islands and enjoy the beautiful scenery on foot.

Use our Cook Islands travel guide to organize your vacation, cut costs, and make the most of your time in paradise.

The only complete guide to the Cook Islands - part 1 of 2

On the map (if you can find them at all!) they are just 15 tiny dots in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean...but together they're the Cook Islands, a unique paradise nation of warm and friendly people and stunning scenery.
Aitutaki - one of the islands - has been used as the location for the US TV series, 'Survivor'on CBS and the UK series, 'Shipwrecked' on Channel 4 TV.

You can find out more about all the Islands at - the only independent, non-commercial guide on the net to all of the Cook Islands.

This is part one of a two part guide to all of the Cook Islands. And even if you can't visit them in person, hopefully this will give you an idea of why they're so special.

The film has been split into two parts because YouTube doesn't allow videos longer than 10 minutes. This part covers 8 of the 9 islands in the southern group. Part two will follow very soon. In the meantime, escape to a different world..or as one Australian author put it, to a place where today is forever and tomorrow never comes.

(I am indebted to an amazing man called Gerald McCormack for the footage of the kopeka and the stills of some of islands' bird life. He's created the definitive database about the islands' flora and fauna at which I can't recommend too highly. Additional stills are courtesy of Marcus Gleinig and Ewan Smith of Air Rarotonga and Graeme Whitfield of Summerfield Systems, Rarotonga)

Cook Islands :
Situated at the very centre of Polynesia, the Cook Islands is an archipelago nation comprised of 15 islands. It is spread across an area in the South Pacific, three times the size of Texas, USA.

Sublimely beautiful with pristine white sands fringed by coconut palms - the Cook Islands possess a castaway island magic, and yet is only a 4 hour flight from New Zealand.

According to legend, these tiny islands, dotted amongst the vast ocean, were discovered thousands of years ago by the very finest Polynesian seafarers. Guided by the stars and using other sophisticated navigation techniques, they landed their legendary double hulled Vakas and set about creating paradise. It's a rhythm you’ll feel as soon as you land at Raratonga (the largest island in the group).

It has been almost 250 years since Captain Cook became the first European to discover these islands and yet there is a gentle timelessness that endures here.

You could easily drive around this sparkling island in half an hour if you hurry, but that’s the charm of the Cook Islands... no one does! Cook Islands drivers licenses are cheap and available at local police station, although an international license should cover it, but then - it's rare indeed that a police officer will ever actually CHECK that you have one, unless you do something really obnoxious or stupid on the island, so kindly respect the local way of life, and you will have no problem.

NOTE: Fresh milk is outrageously expensive at close to AU$10 per litre (if you can find it) as all supplies are shipped from New Zealand, and there are no dairies on the island, so powdered milk is really your only viable option.

Come and discover the generous rhythm and warm hospitality of the Cook Islands for yourself - You'll love it!

Cook Islands: A Yachting Guide for Sailing Aitutaki & Manuae Island

Planning your Cook Island trip this coming ber months? Make it in November, you will not regret it! Watch the video to see why April and November are the best time to visit Cook Island. Cook Island is one of the islands of the Pacific that is worth going to. It’s beautiful atolls, inactive volcanoes that make it a tourist attraction; a volcano that became the reason why atolls were formed millions of years ago.

Have you heard the phrase, “The true beauty is within”? Well, I hope it is a lagoon. Because the inside of the lagoon contains crystal-clear turquoise-colored water. A very lively color to make your stay worthwhile. If you are a food lover, good news. There are plenty of restaurants there if you want to try something new.

If activities are what you are looking for, whether it is a heart racing activity or relaxing activity, then Cook Islands has it all for you! If you loved the content of the video, and the content of the description, please leave a comment, like the video and subscribe to our channel.

Cheers!

Cook Islands - Rarotonga & Aitutaki - Vlog 38

If getting into the water is not quite your thing then you can still experience the underwater world onboard the Reef Sub, nicknamed the Yellow Submarine. The skipper gives you a commentary about the history of the island and marine life as Yellow Submarine takes you out to the ship wreck. He feeds the big pelagic fish surrounding the boat so you get a close view from the lower viewing deck. They come right up to the window and you almost feel like you are in the water with them.
