Is Isle of Man Worth It? | 24 HOUR VISIT | Days Before the TT

In our continuing attempt to visit 50 countries, we decided to look a little closer to home to see where we were missing. Low and behold, Isle of Man sat waiting for us! We used the Steampacket Ferry from Liverpool to cross over to this quiet and peaceful island. We really had no idea what to expect and to be honest, I don't think either of our expectations was incredibly high. HOWEVER, we were beyond pleasantly surprised to find that we loved this little country!

We kicked things off by taking the Electric Tram up to Laxey. There we attempted to visit the Laxey Wheel but found it to be under restoration... oh well! We found dinner in Douglas, enjoyed the beach, and turned in so we could catch our early bus the next morning. When we woke we took the bus to Peel! There we climbed a nearby hill, explored Peel Castle, learned about the marine life, and got some famous Davisons ice cream. During our time we also got to explore the town centers, break out our drone and eat some great food. So... 24 Hours in Isle of Man... is it worth going to? 100%, we hope to be going back one day! Maybe next time we will catch the Tourist Trophy/TT?

Tell us, where, in the UK, we should try and go to next! What would you like us to share? What did you think of the video? Leave a comment, like, and subscribe for more!!

The Isle of Man is located in the middle of the northern Irish Sea, almost equidistant from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland (closest), and Wales (farthest). It is 52 kilometres (32 mi) long and, at its widest point, 22 kilometres (14 mi) wide. It has an area of around 572 square kilometres (221 sq mi). Besides the island of Mann itself, the political unit of the Isle of Man includes some nearby small islands: the seasonally inhabited Calf of Man, Chicken Rock on which stands an unmanned lighthouse, St Patrick's Isle and St Michael's Isle. The last two of these are connected to the main island by permanent roads/causeways.

Ranges of hills in the north and south are separated by a central valley. The northern plain, by contrast, is relatively flat, consisting mainly of deposits from glacial advances from western Scotland during colder times. There are more recently deposited shingle beaches at the northernmost point, the Point of Ayre. The island has one mountain higher than 600 metres (2,000 ft), Snaefell, with a height of 620 metres (2,034 ft). According to an old saying, from the summit one can see six kingdoms: those of Mann, Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, and Heaven. Some versions add a seventh kingdom, that of the sea, or Neptune

Welcome to the tropical paradise of Koh Samui, where azure waters, powdery white sands, and swaying palms await your arrival! Nestled in the Gulf of Thailand, this enchanting island is a haven for beach lovers, adventure seekers, and culinary enthusiasts alike. Join me on a journey as we explore the wonders of Koh Samui, from its pristine beaches to its vibrant markets and everything in between.

How to Get to Koh Samui
First things first, let's talk about how to get here. Koh Samui is accessible by air, with its own international airport catering to flights from major cities across Asia. Nate and I actually took a flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui, it definitely was not cheap but for me it was worth it because I get sea sick very badly, and it helped me out to skip one leg of travel via the sea. Alternatively, you can opt for a scenic ferry ride from nearby islands like Koh Phangan or Surat Thani on the mainland. Whichever mode of transport you choose, the journey itself sets the tone for the tropical escape that awaits. Ferry rides are about $20-40 depending on speed and the season, book ahead, as tickets can sell out even in the low season (we almost learned this the hard way!)

Where to Stay in Koh Samui
Once you've landed on this slice of paradise, it's time to find your home away from home. Chaweng Beach, with its lively atmosphere and array of accommodations, is the perfect base for your Koh Samui adventure. And nestled within this bustling hub is the exquisite San Suchi Resort, a sanctuary of luxury and tranquility. Picture yourself waking up to the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore, with lush greenery enveloping your private villa. From deluxe rooms to beachfront suites, San Suchi offers a range of options to suit every traveler's preference.

How to Get Around Koh Samui
Now that you're settled in, let's talk about how to explore this gem of an island. While taxis and tuk-tuks are readily available, there's no better way to navigate Koh Samui than on a motorbike. Renting a scooter gives you the freedom to venture off the beaten path, discovering hidden beaches, scenic viewpoints, and charming villages at your own pace. Just remember to wear a helmet, obey traffic rules, and embrace the thrill of the open road. We don't recommend riding a scooter here if you are not experienced, as the roads can get pretty congested - and drivers are aggressive, so it can be extremely dangerous if you're just starting out.

Where to Eat in Koh Samui
No trip to Koh Samui would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights, and the island's markets offer a tantalizing array of flavors to tempt your taste buds. Head to Fisherman's Village Walking Street in Bophut for an evening of gastronomic adventure, where street vendors dish up a mouthwatering selection of fresh seafood, spicy curries, and sweet treats. For a daytime culinary escapade, don't miss the vibrant Lamai Fresh Food Market, where you can sample local delicacies, stock up on exotic fruits, and soak up the lively atmosphere.

Where to Get Coffee in Koh Samui
The local starbucks is Cafe Amazon. It's super affordable, only $1 for a drink, so make sure to enjoy an ice cold beverage here in the air con before heading back on the road.

Night Markets in Koh Samui
As the sun sets and the stars come out to play, Koh Samui comes alive with its legendary night markets. From the bustling stalls of Chaweng Night Market to the bohemian vibes of Maenam Walking Street, these nocturnal bazaars offer a treasure trove of souvenirs, handicrafts, and keepsakes to commemorate your island adventure. And let's not forget the street food – tantalizing skewers, sizzling stir-fries, and refreshing coconut ice cream are just a few of the delights waiting to be savored under the moonlit sky.

In conclusion, Koh Samui is a destination that captivates the senses and steals the heart. From its pristine beaches to its bustling markets, this tropical paradise offers a wealth of experiences just waiting to be discovered. So pack your bags, embark on an adventure, and prepare to fall in love with the magic of Koh Samui.

I hope you've enjoyed our Koh Samui Travel guide video covering where to stay, what to do, what markets to check out, and how to get around this lush island - make sure to stick around for more by subscribing to our channel as we will be island hopping here in Thailand for the next couple months. We will be heading to Koh Phangan next, so that should be a lot of fun!
