— About Exploring Colombia —
Colombia, a country which many only know because of it’s violent past, has been on my list since I went to South America for my first long-term trip in 2012. 6 Years later and with 5 weeks to spend it was finally time to properly explore my country number 9 on the continent.

For the first part of the trip I’ll be traveling with my mate David to the historical city of Cartagena, some picturesque Carribean islands and to the city of Medellin where we get to learn about the violent past and the transformation of the country. After a few days in the capital Bogota I’ll be joined by my good friend Stefan to learn salsa and take on some outdoor adventures in Cali before heading up to Santa Marta where we checkout the most beautiful beaches, float down rivers and hike through the mountains.

ONE DAY in BOGOTA- What to see / What to do/ Where to eat/ Where to stay

If you're visiting Bogota but are short on time and have a day or less to see the city - this is the vlog for you! I guide you through the main sights that I believe should make it into your itinerary for a day in Bogota and obviously what to do, where to stay, where to eat etc.
Obviously, this is a huge city with SO much to do and I am aware of the attractions that I didn't cover, but once again - this is how I believe a day here should be spent without rushing around between activities or having to take multiple taxis. Notes:
I got here by plane and a vaccine is still required, so make sure you have that before entering Colombia.
The local currency is the Colombian peso, the exchange rate with the US Dollar is currently 4700.
The weather here is more fresh, cloudy and cool than in other Colombian cities because of its high altitude so remember to bring a jacket.
It's safe in the central area but you still need to be vigilant and try not to walk around alone / at night in less touristy zones.

COLOMBIAN FOOD BOGOTA | LA PUERTA FALSA Ajiaco Santafereño and Chocolate Completo

In this video, I explore two typical dishes of Bogota: The Chocolate Completo and Ajiaco Santafereño from a famous family-owned cafe called La Puerta Falsa (since 1816)

Chocolate Completo is a traditional Colombian breakfast meal, which consists of a cup of Hot Chocolate, Mild Cheese called Queso Campesino, buttered bread and corn and yucca roll.

The Ajiaco Santafereño, or Bogotan Ajiaco Soup, is a delicacy of the Colombian Capital City. It is a chicken and potato soup, served with rice, capers, corn, avocado and sour cream.

Bogota - Colombia - Where to stay, eat, see and do

A bustling city in the mountain heights of Colombia.

Trying Colombian Food + Exploring Bogota // Colombia Travel Vlog

During our trip to Bogota we tried some of our favorite Colombian food of our entire trip! In this Colombia travel vlog we bring you around Bogota with us as we explore the country's capital city and try Colombian food including Bogota's famous Ajiaco soup, Colombian hot chocolate, tamales, and Colombian street food!

Bogota is a huge city with more than 11 million people. To explore the city we visit the community called La Candelaria to see Plaza de Bolivar, Plaza de Armas, and Santuario Nuestra Señora del Carmen. In La Candelaria we also found the famous La Puerta Falsa; a restaurant known for its incredible Ajiaco soup and Colombian hot chocolate. We can confirm that La Puerta Falsa does not disappoint!

After stuffing ourselves beyond the point of bursting we made our way over to the telefrico to bring us up to the Monserrate lookout. With epic views of Bogota and a quaint church, this tourist attraction is one of the best that Bogod tta has on offer! We manageo get enough walking in at the Monserrate Sanctuary to share a Colombian dessert called esponjado de curuba.

It is hard to believe that Bogota is our final stop in South America! We have seen so many beautiful places in Colombia and the rest of South America and are sad to be saying goodbye to this wonderful continent that we have called home for the past 7 moths. Make sure you subscribe to see what incredible adventures we have coming up!

======================

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico, full-time travel vloggers searching for adventures all around the globe. In March 2021 we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and hopped on our first ever one-way flight leaving our home country #Canada. We believe #travel builds understanding that reaches across culture, language, and boundaries, and we want to share our experiences as we create connections all over the world. If you like learning about unique places, new cultures and different foods, then come follow our adventure as we explore all our beautiful planet has to offer.
