Most Dangerous Airport in the World - Paro, Bhutan! RWY33 landing | VQPR | Airbus319
Paro airport is considered as one of the most challenging airport in the world for the commercial jetliners to land.
The airport is located at an altitude of 7364 feet above mean sea level with runway elevation of 7362 feet and 7310 feet respectively for runway 15 and runway 33.
The runway length is 7431 feet ( 2265 meters) and width is about 30 meters which just covers the minimum runway width required by ICAO. ( one factor why Paro is considered one of the most challenging runway to land for the pilots)
Note: All Airbus aircraft are developed based on 45 m wide runways because it reflects the most frequently used runways by Airbus aircraft.
All flight and simulator certification tests linked to directional control on ground are performed on 45 m wide runways.
Enjoy the short video of the landing done by the pilots of Bhutan Airlines.

Paro Bhutan - EXTREME TAKEOFF due to Mountains
A look at the end of the runway and you know this is not your average airport or takeoff! You will need to climb quickly and make turns in between the mountains!
JustPlanes first visited Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines, at Paro in Bhutan back in 2001 to make a first film on this incredible airport and approach on the airline's fleet of Bae 146s.
After Drukair replaced its fleet with Airbus A319 aircraft we thought it was worthwhile to return to this beautiful country and produce a new film and we did. The new nearly 5 hour program features 8 flights and includes the airline's ATR-42 as well.
This is something anyone with the slightest interest in aviation should find very fascinating. The program includes
+ Cockpit filming using up to 6 cameras!
+ Flight Preparations
+ External Walkaround
+ Cockpit Set-up
+ Briefings
+ Checklists
+ Cockpit Presentation
+ Depature & Arrival Airport Charts
+ Pilot Presentations
+ Pilot Training
+ Pilot Skills needed for this extreme approach/departure
+ Fantastic scenery over the entire program!

Drukair Landing at Paro Airport, Bhutan!!!
Scary Plane Landing at Paro International Airport, Bhutan
Some say that Paro International Airport in a deep valley by the river Paro Chhu is among the most dangerous airports in the world. With surrounding peaks as high as 5,500 metres (18,000 ft), Paro International Airport is definitely one of the world's #most challenging airports. Our landing at this Bhutanese airport does appear scary. Watch the video and decide for yourself whether this is indeed a dangerous airport to land. Our flight from Bangkok is with Druk Air, also known as Royal Bhutan Airlines aboard an Airbus A319-100 with specially trained and certified pilots at the control.

-Presenting viewers the view of approach and landing into Paro airport.
-Both the cockpit (and from the outside view) sequenced all the way to landing.
-The approach from the south(which is shown here) is considered to be the easier one for the pilots.
-The approach from the north however is more dramatic as it involves last minute maneuver
dropping quickly onto the runway.

✈ Landing Paro, Bhutan ✈ Inside Cockpit View 4K ✈ 2019
The airport in Paro (Bhutan) is one of the most challenging International airports in the world.
Located at an altitude of 7333ft in a small valley, pilots can only land under visual approach. There is NO technical help like PAPI lights ... Just the pilots flying skills brings down the plane safely.
In 2019 I had the opportunity to film our landing on the flight from KTM to PBH from the jumpseat in the cockpit.
Special gratitude to the Crew of the Drukair / Royal Bhutan Airlines for this Experience. Thanks a lot.

Bhutan Airlines Landing (Cockpit view) at Paro Airport
Back to September 2014, there was an annual meeting taking place in Thimphu for Bhutan Airlines GSA from 11 stations. Luckily, the most breathtaking landing video in the cockpit 8 mins before touching the ground was given to OMG Experience Co., Ltd. (B3 GSA in Thailand) . It was such a smooth landing and nice view. :-).
