Chulgiri Hills- The Most Scenic View of Jaipur | Riya Khicher
This weekend I went to explore the Chulgiri Hills and the Jain Temple on that hill. I must admit that it was the best view I got from a hill top in Jaipur. Thanks to the rain that added that extra freshness and greenery around the hills.
If you're around Jaipur, do visit the Chulgiri Temple, if possible during the monsoons and you'll be mesmerized by the natural beauty and the aerial view of the Jaipur city.

Jaipur Agra Tunnel, Ghat Ki Guni Tunnel, जयपुर आगरा सुरंग, Jaipur Surang, Rajasthan, India.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi unveiled the Ghat Ki Guni tunnel project on Saturday. With this, approximately 10,000 commuters plying on the route can swiftly come and go towards National Highway 11 passing through the tunnel constructed in Jhalana Hills.
During the 15 minutes inauguration ceremony which took place around 2.40pm the PM and Congress supremo inaugurated the tunnel. Reportedly, the curtains were supposed to lift automatically after pressing a button. However, due to a technical glitch the PM and Sonia Gandhi had to draw the curtains manually.
Urban development minister Shanti Dhariwal said, The tunnel is one of its kinds in the state. It will not only reduce congestion in the area, but will also add to the heritage value of the city.
As the tunnel was immediately made open for public after the ceremony, hundreds of residents who had gathered at the entry of the tunnel rushed inside. Pedestrians and vehicles owners including cars and bikes cherished their first time experience.
According to the officials, once the tunnel is opened to public, the 2.8 km distance connecting the M I road and NH-11 (Jaipur-Agra) would be covered in just eight minutes from one end to the other, passing through the Jhalana Hills.
The traffic pressure would be drastically cut. Approximately, 10,000 light and heavy motor vehicles are expected to ply on the route every day. For the next three days, the study will also be conducted as to how many vehicles are passing everyday, said an official.
According to the officials, as per Indian Road Congress code, the tunnels are connected from two places after every 330 metres. Two tunnels are 870 and 885 metres long that will provide alternative route to Jaipur-Agra Road, added an official.
Officials explained that in order to make the Ghat Ki Guni tunnel safe and pollution-free, the JDA has installed a 'control console' to deal with any kind of emergency. There are sensors installed in the tunnel to keep it pollution-free. Fans will automatically start if gases such as carbon monoxide increase in the tunnel, he said. After the tunnel is opened for traffic, it is expected that a large number of vehicles will pass through it everyday resulting in huge pollution. There will be exhaust fans which will throw out the air and bring in fresh air.
After it was proposed in 2005, it took JDA over five years to get the Rs 150-crore project rolling due to various modifications in the length of the project. The length of the tunnel has increased by 213 metres, from the earlier measurement of 647 metres it has been increased to 858 metres.

Often undermined because of the myriad hill stations in Himachal Pradesh, Kasauli is a beautiful cantonment town in its own right. At an elevation of 1800 meters above the sea level, this hill station has a pleasant climate throughout the year and is thus a great option for your weekend getaway from Jaipur.
Since the town came into existence during the British Raj, you will find various buildings here in the colonial style of architecture. Towards the end of the day, you can spend a quiet evening at Sunset Point.

4. Nainital, The City of Lakes and Stunning Vistas
Probably one of the most visited hill stations in India, Nainital is the perfect place to chill at and escape the scorching heat of Jaipur in summers. Besides soaking in the enchanting views of the sunset and sunrise, there are plenty of things you can do here.
Start your day with a nature walk in the forest. Visit Naini Lake: go for boating, sit by the lake or simply explore the home-grown shops which line the lake. For buying woollen clothes and other knick-knacks, stop by the Bhotia Market. Do not leave the market without trying the delectable and spicy momos at ‘Sonam Momos Stall’. You will find plenty of stalls and shops by the same name, but the original one is inside the market.
Located at a distance of around 17 km from Shimla, Kufri is a picturesque hill station complete with snow-clad mountains, hiking and trekking trails and of course, beautiful picnic spots where you can spend some time with friends and family.
