In this food and travel video/vlog, I take you on a full Chinese street food tour of Guangzhou (keep this food in mind if you also visit Hong Kong)- we eat a lot of specialties on the street and in Chinese restaurants together. The addresses for these locations are listed below. Chinese/Asian food recipes are going to be included in my blog shortly.

1) Local street food Chang Fen (rice noodle roll) - These are found throughout the city and are famously eaten during breakfast time in Guangdong, or during yumcha dimsum. I went to a very cheap Chinese restaurant specializing in Changfen in Baiyun district:
Name: 潮汕辉记肠粉
Address: 广州市白云区岗贝路4号

2) The best and must try chashaobao AKA charsui bao AKA BBQ pork bun. These beauties are like upgraded baozi steam buns you find all over the streets of China. The pork juicy and covered in a sweet Barbeque sauce and the bun is so fluffy, you won't be able to get enough of them!
Name: 天天包点
Address: 广州市越秀区起义路72号

3) Famous Chinese street food Chashao BBQ pork and Shao'e roast goose. These are the best and two must try street foods in China, especially during lunch hour in Guangzhou or Hong Kong
Name: 九爷鸡
Address: 广州市越秀区文明路103号

4) Dim sum at the famous yumcha dim sum restaurant Dim Dou Dak. This is a chain restaurant that serves some of the best cantonese dim sum in the city. Be sure to order the shao mai dumplings, har gao dumplings, fengzhua chicken feet, and their specialty red rice roll. So good!
Name: 点都德
Address: 广州市越秀区越秀中路60号宝贝城4楼

5) The largest wholesale seafood market in Guangzhou. There is a huge selection of seafood here, you could spend a whole day here just watching and discovering all the different types of fresh seafood. It's not cheap unfortunately, it's quite expensive! Be ready to bargain a little bit.
Name: 盛港湾酒楼
Address: 广州市海珠区黄沙海产批发市场

If you have a whole day in Guangzhou or even Hong Kong (you can find exactly the same street foods) to travel and eat and try Chinese street food, then visit some of these amazing and best street food locations! Please leave me a comment down below if you did and let me know how the food was!

ULTIMATE Shanghai STREET FOOD Breakfast Tour in French Concession | Shanghai, China

I love China. I first visited Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai back in 2015 with my father. I fell in love with the food, culture, and history then, so I jumped at the chance to go back in April of 2019. This time, I visited Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou for a deeper dive into this unique place. I can’t wait to share it all with you!

Follow UnTour Food Tours on Instagram:

On the morning of my second full day in Shanghai, I met back up with my boy Li from UnTour Food Tours. He took me on a mouthwatering street food breakfast tour! Come along with us as we explore more of Shanghai!

We started by watching people do tai chi in a park in the center of the former French Concession.

From there, we stopped at an old-school diner-like eatery with communal seating. We got 4 dishes, including soymilk; a sticky rice ball with shredded pork, duck egg, and vegetables; an oily Chinese churro; and a sweet Chinese flatbread.

I dipped my churro into the soymilk at first. It tasted like the churros in Spain, except without sugar. Then I tore up the rest and let it soak up the milk. It was fantastic!

Next was the dense sticky rice ball, which contained lots of spice, egg, and pickled vegetables. It was really filling!

I finished up with a bite of the crispy, biscuit-like flatbread. It was delicious, but I held off on the rest.

I watched them prepare and fry the churros outside. There were also fried empanada-like dumplings!

Next, we visited a hole-in-the-wall restaurant for a thick, savory, seven-layered pancake with a sweet, red chili sauce. It looked like a dish I’d had in Greece. I loved the crispiness on the outside and softness on the inside. The sauce was really rich and had some spice that snuck up on me!

Our next spot at least 20 varieties of sweet and savory buns for 2 Yuan/roughly $0.30 each. There was a long line, so we’d come back later.

Then, we grabbed my favorite Chinese breakfast food, jianbing. It’s a type of crepe that contains egg, vegetables, a cracker, and sweet and spicy sauces. It was packed with flavor and had a great balance between sweet and spicy! I loved the cilantro!

Next was shepherd’s purse and pork wontons. It contained a delicious soup and was topped with spring onions. It was so juicy and delicious!

Then I had a pot sticker containing soup and sesame oil. You take a nibble and suck the soup out because it’s so hot. The soup inside was so good! I added some chilies and waited for it to cool off. I loved it, especially the crispy bottom!

We also had two steamed buns: one with black sesame and one with egg custard. The black sesame almost tasted like chocolate while the egg custard was super sweet. I liked the egg custard more.

We were getting full, so we took a break from eating. Outside, I watched them prepare the pot stickers and grabbed some coffee. I got a cold brew with coconut water, which was so different and tropical. I loved the natural sweetness!

Then, we saw some lane houses, which are have black gates, huge frames, and courtyards. There were lots of different architectural styles in the area. They were beautiful!

Next, we passed through a popular wet market, an open supermarket where they sell lots of veggies, meat, poultry, and seafood. Then it was time for some hand-pulled noodles, which are always a spectacle!

Our next spot was a 24/7, family-run restaurant. The noodles were covered in a sticky sauce. I added some chili sauce, which was pungent but not too spicy. So good! They were some of the best noodles I’ve ever had!

Next was a tofu bamboo stir-fry with green pepper red onions. It consists of soymilk skin, which has a texture similar to bamboo. I loved the peppers!

Our final dish was xiaolongbao, or soup dumplings, at Loushi Dumpling Shop. They contain ginger. You dip them into black rice vinegar, nibble a corner, and suck out the soup so it doesn’t burn your tongue. They were amazing, but I was so full!

I hope you enjoyed this epic Shanghai street food tour of the French Concession! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment. Also, please subscribe to my channel!

Wild SHANGHAI STREET FOOD in City God Temple + Yu Gardens Tour | Shanghai, China

In April of 2019, I had the pleasure of visiting China for the second time in my life. I spent 12 days exploring and eating my way through the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to share my adventures with you!

Newman Tours:

My second full day in China continued in Shanghai when I met up with my friend Daniel from Newman Tours. They offer incredible tours in cities all over China. We started our adventure in the Old Town of Shanghai at the beautiful Yu Gardens.

Our journey began at a replica of one of the four original entrances of the old town. We saw a statue of a mythological creature with a very interesting backstory outside of a jewelry store.

Our first stop was a place selling deep-fried local crabs. There are salty and spicy varieties. I went with the spicy one and dug into the meat in the middle. It was really nice and crispy. They were so meaty and delicious. I could eat everything on it, but the middle had so much meat in it!

Then we headed off to try the original xiaolongbao from 1900. To get there, we had to pass through a temple and marketplace area. We passed lots of street food vendors along the way. These xiaolongbao contain crab and pork. They’re much bigger than the regular xiaolongbao. You have to pop them with a straw to drink the soup before you eat them!

The soup inside was so hot. There was a lot of it inside! Then I grabbed my chopsticks and dove in. They’re huge and much thicker than the other xiaolongbaos I’d had, but it was so delicious!

We continued on to Yu Market, which has been around since the 16th century, and Yu Garden. It’s very clean and feels like an open-air mall. The temple architecture is stunning and there are so many things to see!

We headed on to a restaurant that sells over 100 dishes, including sweet and sour soups, dumplings, sticky rice, snails, pot stickers, eel, squid, and much more!

I went with some glutinous sticky rice balls with red bean paste inside. It was too hot and was super sticky and kind of slimy on the outside. I loved the red bean paste inside. Daniel brought me some coconut juice from Hainan Island near Vietnam. The juice was delicious and refreshing. It was straight coconut juice!

Then we crossed the zigzag bridge, which zigs and zags to lost ghosts, which were traditionally thought to only be able to travel in a straight line. I love learning about history. Ahead of us was a tea house.

There was a statue of the goddess of the lotuses. You make a wish and try to toss your coin onto the lotus pad she stands on. If I get it, I get two wishes. I got one inside and wished for a million subscribers!

Next, we went into Yu Garden, which was beautiful and dates back to the Ming Dynasty. It’s thought this temple was built using stolen money from taxpayers! There’s also an ancient rockery or rock garden, which is quite beautiful! I learned so much from Daniel!

There are lots of doorways in the garden. We reached an area where the path forked; long ago, one path was taken by the men and the other by the concubines! Newman Tours provides an audio guide for Yu Gardens that really helps you out!

Coming here is like taking a trip back in time. It’s one of the few areas where you can see things that were built in the 16th century. There was a gorgeous gate with two huge dragons with three fingers. From there, we fed the fish. There are lots of carp there and they’re really big!

We also saw a large rock that was meant to be a gift to for the emperor, but it fell into the river after it was placed on a boat to be transported to the capital. It was fished out hundreds of years later and moved to the garden.

To wrap up, Daniel gave me the opportunity to see my future by using some ancient Chinese fortune sticks. You shake the container containing the sticks until one comes out. On the stick is a fortune that corresponds with one in a booklet. You only want one; if two come out, it means the gods are laughing at you!

I made a different wish and shook out the number 9. It told me to be honest, straight, and true if I win success in life, otherwise I would fail!

I hope you enjoyed my wild Shanghai food tour and Yu Gardens visit! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment. Also, please subscribe to my channel!

Wild SHANGHAI STREET FOOD in City God Temple + Yu Gardens Tour | Shanghai, China

Chinese STREET FOOD Breakfast Tour of Huanghe Road - Buns, Dumplings & Jiangbing | Shanghai, China

In April of 2019, I had the pleasure of taking my second trip to China. For ten incredible days, I explored the wonderful world of Chinese culture, history, and cuisine in the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. It was such an amazing trip and I’m so excited to finally start dropping this series!

My first full day in Shanghai began bright and early in the morning with a street food breakfast tour of Huanghe Road, the main street food road in the city. It’s centrally located and is just two blocks from my Airbnb! I love Chinese food so much and had an amazing time exploring this city with my dad back in 2015. Now I was doing it solo! Come along with me as I eat some yummy Chinese street food!

The laws in China have changed since my last visit; street food isn’t really allowed anymore due to sanitation concerns. So instead, you get the “street food” from hole-in-the-wall spots along the road. There are so many places to get delicious food and pedestrians eating as they go. I even got some advice on where to get a good bun from a passerby!

I bought a bun at a spot with about 20 different varieties, set up my camera on a scooter, and dug in. It was a soft and juicy pork bun. There was a delicious, sweet and spicy sauce inside. It only cost me two Yuan (about $0.29 U.S.) and was super filling! It was so good that I went for another bun. This one was more of a dumpling and contained sticky brown rice and herbs. It was so different and was very different. It also wasn’t spicy!

I kept my eyes peeled for the Chinese pancake dish I loved on my first trip as I continued on. I found them just barely off the street in another small restaurant. The dish is called jianbing and is a savory crepe with eggs, crackers, pickled vegetables, and hoisin sauce. They’re only available until 11 a.m. I love this dish so much. I had it every day when I cam here with my father.

It was spicy and sweet, with a runny egg running through it. The scallions were amazing and I loved the crunch. It was almost like a Chinese dosa! This might be my favorite pancake or crepe dish of all-time! It was so filling!

Right across the street is a spot making scallion pancakes. Even though I was getting full, I had to try this. They also make chive egg pancakes and leek egg pancakes here. I watched them pan-fry the pancakes and then bake them afterward. My scallion pancake was super crispy. It was an overload of scallions! The dough was crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. It was so freaking delicious!

I went on the hunt for some soup next. I wanted something different from all the carbs I’d had already. I had to look for it, but it was difficult because you need someone who speaks Mandarin with you, otherwise it’s easy to get lost in Shanghai.

I found the spot I was looking for and ordered 12 shrimp and pork dumplings. It cost me 28 Yuan, or a little over $4 U.S., plus another 8 Yuan for some seaweed and egg drop soup. You eat the two together!

The soup came super hot and steamy. I loved the aroma. The seaweed was crunchy and thick. It had a briny taste like the ocean. I added some chili for some spice. I got the 5 out of 10 in terms of spice level. Then I dipped my shrimp dumpling in the soup. It was so hot, so I had to wait!

I dipped the dumpling in some soy sauce with chili flakes. The dumplings are soupy inside and so good! The pork dumpling was good, but I preferred the shrimp! The soup was perfect for this chilly day.

I was so full, so I took a break from eating and headed over to Nanjing Road. Lots of people were out and about and there aren’t many cars. I recommend people stay around People’s Square in Shanghai. It’s centrally located and is so close to street food, which costs much less than the food you’d get at a hotel!

Nanjing Road is the principal shopping and food street here. There are lots of eateries and stores like Adidas, Tiffany, Pandora, and more. I visited the Avengers: Endgame display again with the faces made of Legos and the Thanos statue.

I found traditional Chinese outfits for each of my daughters for 89 Yuan each, or about $13 U.S.

What an amazing morning! If you loved this video, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment. Also, please subscribe to my channel!

When you walk into hongxing seafood restaurant, you immediately feel like you're walking into a seafood heaven. This is different from our regular Chinese street food videos, this is a Chinese seafood feast video! And today we are featuring all cantonese style cooking, one of the 8 main specialties of Chinese cuisine! This is less spicy than Sichuan food, this is much more elegant and refined and clear style, very delicious!

When you walk in, you'll see hundreds of different fish tanks full of seafood!

You'll see at least 2 aisles full of lobster from around the world. Australian lobster, Boston lobster, and more. And you'll also find aisles full of different crabs from around the world. In this Chinese Street Food tour video, I take you around many places in Chengdu. First, I visited this local market near the outskirts of Chengdu, Sichuan, China, and found Chinese street food and the atmosphere to be mind blowing and exciting! It was truly an experience visiting this Chinese street market! So much food and Sichuan ingredients, so many flavours to try! Afterwards, I rode my bike around to many different locations.

Please like:

I visited this morning market on a Sunday morning in Chengdu at 8am with an empty stomach and money to blow with the goal of tasting foods and chatting with as many locals as possible. This is a true China experience. It was so busy, with so many people, so many things to buy and look at, tons of vegetables, meat, live chickens, live hens, live roosters, everything you could want really. Fresh handmade noodles, fresh Sichuan cold liangbancai, and a huge meat market deli area with hanging pork and beef to choose from. All of the locals were friendly and talkative, although a bit surprised to see a foreigner walking through the area!

If you're visiting China as a tourist, you'll definitely want to take a walk through a busy morning market like this. There are countless street foods to try and people to chat to (If you speak a little mandarin). This market was mind blowing!

Rather than trying hot pot in Chengdu or hot pot in Chongqing, you could try some way cooler food in Chengdu at local market like this. This should be a top priority in my opinion!

Chinese cuisine is so diverse, and I consider myself lucky to be able to live in Sichuan, eating Sichuan food everyday, tasting all the top Chinese foods to try whenever I want. I've decided to stay living in China for at least another 2 or 3 years to get the feel of it and eat as much as I can!

The addresses of the locations in the video are:

When you think of Seafood, you don't think of Szechuan. But here in Chengdu, Sichuan, seafood is flown in from all over China and Asia to be cooked by master chefs who know how to cook the best Sichuan cuisine! In today's street food tour, we're bringing you to 2 different Sichuan locations for the best seafood in the world.

First, we're going to the local seafood market in downtown Chengdu to buy some super fresh seafood. We bought a nice plump lobster weighing 1 kg and some big Dungeness crabs as well.

The real magic is that even though Chengdu is far away from the ocean, the seafood is flown in alive so it's still super fresh and can be prepared Sichuan style. You can purchase fresh seafood from the seafood market and walk right across the street to one of the street food restaurants and bring them the seafood to cook any number of different local Sichuan recipes. Since this is a SZECHUAN SEAFOOD TOUR, we ordered Sichuan style for all the seafood, which was loaded up with tons of chilies, spicy broadbean paste, onions, and potatoes. We also ordered some hairy mitten crabs cooked in Sichuan style as well. It was all super delicious!

After that super amazing Sichuan seafood feast, the next day we went to a HUGE SEAFOOD TOWER in Chengdu. It was amazing to get into the kitchen and watch as the chefs cooked up their local Spicy Sichuan stir fry dishes and put them into the cauldron, 4 layers high. The bottom layer was spicy Sichuan frog. Then there was a layer of Spicy beef, Spicy Szechuan Chicken, and spicy Sichuan shrimp!

Here are the locations for the spicy Chinese street food restaurants in Chengdu:

ABOUT THE FOOD RANGER
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Trevor James and I'm a hungry traveler and Mandarin learner that's currently living in Chengdu, Szechuan, China, eating up as much delicious .

I enjoy tasting and documenting as many dishes as I can and I'm going to make videos for YOU along the way! Over the next few years, I'm going to travel around the world and document as much food as I can for you! I love delicious food! This channel will show you real Chinese food and real local food, not that stuff they serve in the Buzzfeed challenge.

Thanks for watching, and please feel free to leave a comment, suggestion, or critique in the comments below!
