SAUDI ARABIAN DESERT ADVENTURE | Asfar Lake AL AHSA العربية السعودية
We went on a Saudi Arabian desert adventure to the Yellow Lake, Asfar Lake, in Al Ahsa on the outskirts of Al Hofuf. Thanks to our kind friends Mohamammed, Khaled and Khaled who we met through couchsurfing. In true Arabian hospitable style they invited us on a desert adventure.
Driving out into the yellow sands, only 30 minutes from Al Hofuf, we visited the beautiful Asfar (Yelllow Lake). We saw camels in the desert, enjoyed a traditional Arabian desert camp with coffee and dates and even did some desert tobogganing! Join us on our adventure!

Al Asfar Lake / Yellow Lake
This lake is largest oasis in the Arabian region. Lake is prime location to view migratory birds during winter. Source of water to this lake is drainage of irrigation land. Place is surrounded by sand and mud hence it is advised to go by 4X4 vehicle. We hired Jeeps locally and reached the place. It was very cold and windy but could see many visitors as it is very famous these days among the region and development of tourism. Take enough water and food with you if you are planning to camp there. Lake was declared as UNESCO world heritage site.
Al-Asfar lake is one of the important wetland shallow lake in the region. The lake is a historic landmark of Al-Hasa, and was mentioned by some historians of Abbasid
