30+ Bizarre Canadian Facts Even Locals Don't Know

It seems like almost every country in the world has at least one law that baffles foreigners to no end, and Canada is no exception! Did you just say I can't fill my bathtub with more than 3-and-a-half inches of water when taking a bath? Yep, that's Canada! Do you want to have more than 4 pet rats at a time? Then, unfortunately, Canada isn’t the country for you.

There are places in Canada where you can't attach sirens to your bike, build a snowman that’s taller than 30 inches, paint a wooden ladder, or leave home while wearing your pet snake on your neck or holding your pet lizard in your hands. If you want to take your snake (or any other reptile) for a walk, be so kind as to put it in a glass container. But wait, there's more to come.

TIMESTAMPS:
A cow can't be your pet 0:27
No tall snowmen 0:59
You can't paint a wooden ladder 1:28
Animals made of balloons? Nope. 1:49

Are you a teen? Don't untie your shoes! 3:32

SUMMARY:
- On the Canadian island Newfoundland, a cow can't be your pet, even if you've been dreaming of it your whole life.
- In Sudbury, Ontario, you can't attach sirens to your bike; otherwise, you'll have to pay a fine of a whopping $5,000!
- In the town of Souris, on Prince Edward Island, there’s a law that prohibits you from building a snowman that’s taller than 30 inches.
- In Etobicoke, Ontario, people seem to be a little too worried about bathtub safety. Thus, according to the local law, you can't enjoy more than 3.5 inches of water in your bathtub.
- If you ever visit the Canadian province of Alberta, do NOT paint a wooden ladder - it's against the law.
- And in the town of Oshawa, in Ontario, you can’t climb a tree; otherwise, you'll have big problems with the authorities.
- Victoria, British Columbia, has an inexplicable rule of its own: here, street entertainers aren't allowed to give children animals made of balloons.
- If you decide to work as a cab driver in Halifax, never - do you hear me? - never wear a T-shirt and a pair of shorts when inside the car.
- If you decide to paint a garage door in Kanata, which is one of the largest suburbs of Ottawa, use any color but purple.
- Be careful if you're a teenager wearing lace-up shoes on Main Street in Fort Qu'Appelle in Saskatchewan. There, teens can’t have untied shoes.
- If you live in the town of London, Ontario, make sure that you take good care of your lawn. Once the grass grows 8 inches tall, immediately mow the lawn.
- Ok, how about this one: in Ottawa, it's illegal to eat ice cream on Bank Street on Sundays.
- In Vancouver, from 1947 to 1986, you weren't allowed to sell stoves within city limits on Wednesdays.
- In Ontario, you can’t drive your sleigh along the highway without a minimum of 2 bells attached to the harness of the horse.
- In Charlottetown, on Prince Edward Island, you can’t ring anyone's doorbell or knock at other people's doors as a joke - it's prohibited by law.
- In Uxbridge, Ontario, you probably won’t be able to watch your favorite movie on Netflix. The problem is the Internet speed: according to the local law, it can’t be faster than 56k.
- According to Canadian laws, not less than 35% of all the content broadcasted on the radio must be of Canadian origin.
- Don't pretend to be a person you aren't in Quebec. In particular, avoid impersonating a foreigner - it's illegal and is punished with a fine.
- If you buy a house in Beaconsfield, Quebec, don't even try to paint it more than two colors.
- In Montreal, you can't drive a car with a For Sale sign on it. If you want to inform the world about your intentions, stop first, put the sign in the window next.
- If you visit Oak Bay, British Columbia, with your talking parrot, make sure that it doesn't talk too loudly! Otherwise, you'll have to pay a $100 fine.
- In Alberta, try to resist the temptation to set someone's wooden leg on fire.

What is the experience of traveling on an ESTA?

If your ESTA is approved, you will not need to bring a print out or digital screen copy of your travel authorization. Your ESTA is linked to your passport. However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recommends you retain a print-out of your authorization for your own personal records. Your ESTA will be verified in one of two ways before you board your plane or sea vessel to America.

Airlines, cruise ship operators and booking websites - An approved ESTA may be verified online by air carriers or booking websites. These sites will require you to provide your approved ESTA authorization number as part of online check-in process. If you do not have an approved ESTA authorization number, you will not be allowed to check-in online.

Airport check-in, baggage-drop terminals or at the gate by a flight attendant - When you arrive at the airport or port, representatives will request to see your passport to check against the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS). If do not have an approved ESTA, you will not be allowed to check-in at the airport or board your ship.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've posted on YouTube, but I wanted to give you all an update on what's been going on in my life. As some of you may know, I had a baby a year and a half ago, and my pregnancy was difficult. Unfortunately, after giving birth, I also got sick, which made it impossible for me to keep creating content.

During my time away from social media, I've had some time to reflect on my YouTube journey so far, and I realized that while it has been rewarding in some ways, the stress just isn't worth it. I did a life idolaters where I share how much money YouTube has paid me so far, and why I don't think I'll be returning to the platform.

That said, I still value my viewers and subscribers and would love to hear from you. Do you want me to stay and continue creating content, or do you think it's time for me to move on? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video.

Canadian citizenship is a right acquired by being born in Canada, being born outside Canada to parents who were born in Canada, and by naturalization. By being or becoming a citizen of Canada, you are granted all of the political, social and economic rights and freedoms guaranteed by Canadian laws. Can My Citizenship Be Revoked?
CURRENT REGULATIONS REGARDING
THE REVOCATION OF CANADIAN
CITIZENSHIP
As of 2018, there is still only one way a Canadian citizen can lose their citizenship without
voluntarily renouncing it and this only applies to naturalized citizens. If you were born in Canada
since February 15, 1977 you cannot lose your citizenship, you can only renounce it
If you were naturalized as a Canadian citizen, the only way your citizenship can be revoked is if you
are convicted in court of fraud, and this fraud must have been committed either as part of
your application for permanent residence or your application for Canadian
citizenship. To learn more about reasons why a Canadian citizen or permanent resident could be
investigated for fraud relating to permanent residence or citizenship, read our articles on the
residence questionnaires. If the government is able to prove in court that you committed fraud on
your permanent residence or citizenship application, then your citizenship may be revoked.
This increased enforcement was introduced in the Protecting Canada's Immigration System Act,
which was passed on June 28, 2012. This act amended the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
(IRPA). Prior to this amendment, it was a lot harder to get your citizenship revoked: only 60
Canadians total had their citizenship revoked between 1976 and 2011 under special provisions in the
IRPA. With the new amendment, it is much easier for the government to meet the burden of proof
required to get a conviction for immigration fraud. In 2017, further changes were made and, as of
2018, the citizenship revocation process will be handle by courts, instead of IRCC.
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR
CITIZENSHIP UNDER THE CURRENT LAW?
Though the Government of Canada was actively investigating over 3,000 Canadian citizens for
immigration fraud in 2012-2013, to date about 300 people have lost their citizenship. Somewhat
surprisingly, the number increased drastically after the Liberals won the 2015 election, despite
tabling a bill to change the law. (This bill passed in 2017.) Fewer than 70 people lost their citizenship
through this new law between 2011 and 2014, but hundreds have lost it since the Liberals came to
power. However, the courts have struck down over 300 of those revocations due to various problems
with the procedures.
