The history of Eswatini. Eswatini documentary. World Of Knowledge

Eswatini , officially the Kingdom of Eswatini , sometimes written in English as eSwatini, and formerly and still commonly known in English as Swaziland , is a landlocked country in Southern Africa.

It is bordered by Mozambique to its northeast and South Africa to its north, west, and south.

The population is composed primarily of ethnic Swazis.

The prevalent language is Swazi .

The Swazis established their kingdom in the mid-18th century under the leadership of Ngwane III.

The country and the Swazi take their names from Mswati II, the 19th-century king under whose rule Swazi territory was expanded and unified; the present boundaries were drawn up in 1881 in the midst of the Scramble for Africa.

After the Second Boer War, the kingdom, under the name of Swaziland, was a British protectorate from 1903 until it regained its independence on 6 September 1968.

In April 2018, the official name was changed from Kingdom of Swaziland to Kingdom of Eswatini, mirroring the name commonly used in Swazi

The government is an absolute monarchy, ruled by King Mswati III since 1986.

Elections are held every five years to determine the House of Assembly and the Senate majority.

The current constitution was adopted in 2005.

Umhlanga, the reed dance held in August/September, and incwala, the kingship dance held in December/January, are the nation's most important events

Have you ever wondered what Swaziland is like? Swaziland is one of the smallest countries in Africa, but it is now starting to boom because of the full support of their government in promoting tourism. It has so much to offer in such a small space.

The highlight of our trip was the visit to Hlane Royal National Park, which is the largest in Swaziland and the best park to see the big five.

Enjoy the video and let us know where you're watching from!

Manzini, Eswatini (Swaziland)

A tour of Manzini, Eswatini (Swaziland) where you can also get ideas of the best things to do or things to see when traveling here. Mostly focusing on the downtown center and old town district of the city.

Eswatini Cultural Village (Swazi/Suazi)

The Swazi Cultural Village at Mantenga is a living museum of old traditions, representing a classical Swazi lifestyle during the 1850's.
More information:

Swaziland - Making Chicken Dinner in the Village - Vlog in Eswatini

The country once known as Swaziland was renamed to Eswatini in 2018. I had a great time in a small village in Eswatini, about an hour and a half outside of the capital Mbabane, where we prepared dinner featuring five different variations of corn!

A plane flight costs $345 roundtrip from Cape Town to JHB to eSwatini
It takes about 3 hours. I'm not sponsored by any of these websites since I'm a small youtuber. is a great place to book

If you’re not in a rush, you can take a van from different South African cities. The trip usually costs about E600 - E700 ($35-$40)
Here is the timetable for vans going from South Africa to Eswatini

Single entry visa costs about E80 ($4.65) depending on the swazi embassy in your country
These guys have more information:

1 USD : 17 Lilangeni
1:1 ZAR

They have this van that goes around manzini. There's no timetable, they usually go when the van is full. If not, they wait. While you wait, there’s children that sell burned corn for E10, depending on the child

Once the van takes you to downtown manzini, you should try the KFC, they eat it with pap. In downtown Manzini they also have Nandos and other South African food chains. If you get the chance you should try Karoo roast national dish

Afterwards you should visit Manzini Market where you can buy traditional swazi blankets and get souvenir. The locals will like you.

Inside the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, you can dance, sing and hangout with animals.

Overall, eSwatini is a good country, The visa seems reasonable for non western countries, the accommodation is also reasonable

Mlilwane Sanctuary will give you memories so grab a Siebebe beer with your family and friends.

Ngiyabonga!

Swaziland: going to church in Zombodze

This was a church that my wife and I attended occasionally while living and working in Zombodze (Ngwane) as Peace Corps Volunteers (2008-2010). A storm seriously damaged the building 6 or 7 years beforehand, but the congregation kept on meeting there (not many other options). Eventually we helped them procure materials necessary to repair or rebuild the structure. Christianity is widespread in Swaziland. In fact, I think most Swazis would identify themselves as being Christian. Our Chiefdom alone had around 50 different little churches, all of them similar in style to this one: evangelical, ultra-charismatic, and reminiscent of the Southern Baptist preaching tradition.

All Out Africa & World Challenge Swaziland 2012

All Out Africa, through their partner World Challenge Expeditions, hosted 14 UK schools in Swaziland during July and August 2012. The school groups engaged 2 - 4 week expeditions involving mountian treks, wildlife safari as well as volunteering their help in building a calssroom for 55 orphaned children.
