We’ve just finished an epic road trip through Cyprus! So, if you’ve got a road trip coming up, here’s our top tips for making it a fun and comfortable adventure.
Long trips often require caffeine! Make sure to remember your reusable mug ...you’ll be saving the environment and also stopping your car from quickly turning into a dump.
Good weather location? Hire a car with a sunroof to really make the most of those views. Don’t forget to wear SPF though!
Who knows where your journey might take you, so make sure to have supplies so that nobody gets hangry. European bakeries are a great pit stop for stocking up on those car snacks!
Pack light and bring the essentials only! You’ll want to get comfy, and perching precariously around luggage won’t be fun or safe! Our essentials? An in car charger, a torch… and loo roll!
Getting signal out in the sticks can be tricky! But, if you plan ahead and download local maps to your phone you’ll be able to use them offline!
Download playlists before you travel, not only could you save a fortune on data usage but you’ll also save precious holiday time that would otherwise be spent staring at your screen! And maybe pack an AUX cable in case your hire doesn’t have bluetooth.
What’s a road trip without stopping to enjoy the views? Plan extra time in your day so you can stop whenever you want.

Join us for a road trip to the troodos mountains. On the way we stop of at Alassa the village sunk to make a dam in the 1980s. We then go to Pedoluas and check in to the Mountain Rose hotel. Have dinner in Kakopetria. Visir Troodos Square, walk the Artimes trail have dinner at Louis's in Prodromos.

A Drive Through Androlikou, Cyprus. April 2021
Androlikou is a little village on the north-eastern slopes of the hills that surround the Akamas. Lying just above Prodromi, Prior to the 1974 Turkish invasion it was a Turkish Cypriot village, and it took refugees from the neighbouring Neo Chorio during the intercommunal fights of the 50s and 60s. Since the invasion it has been abandoned, though life does seem to be returning.
Below Androlikou is a big, working quarry, and some beautiful gorges. Above it lies the similarly abandoned village of Fasli.
This route follows - in reverse - part of our second Cyprus Road Trip. If you like watching these films and want to try something similar yourself, they are well worth getting.

A road trip around Limassol 4k Cinematic | Idyllic Cyprus
Today's road trip was our shortest so far, in regard to the distance (approximately 45 kilometres). Yet it was one to remember, because of the beauty of the locations we visited.
The weather was super crazy today. In the beginning, it was a bit cold, even with jackets on. Then, as soon as the rays of the sun escaped the clouds, it became hot, perhaps too hot, given the fact that we've been carrying our equipment while walking along nature trails. About halfway through, the white and greyish clouds became black and there was rain. Thankfully the rain stopped after about ten minutes and we were able to push through.
45 kilometres were enough to make us (and perhaps you) realize how diverse our little island is. We saw dams - nature reserves and we walked nature trails by the water. There were yellow, red, and pink flowers and weeds, that are only seen during spring. We visited ancient ruins and hiked the hills to reach the acropolis. This allowed us to enjoy a magnificent view of the bay of the cruise ships and the never-ending blue hue of the sea. All of this with much-needed coffee in hand and a variety of traditional pastries, enjoying a picnic with a view to die for.
In only 45 kilometres we (re)discovered so much. Imagine how many hidden gems you can explore by driving along the southern coastline, the countryside, and the mountain regions.

The East of Cyprus is famous for its sandy beaches and party lifestyle, but there is so much more to it than that. In this road trip we take you around Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paralimni. We also visit Cape Greco and numerous beaches along the way, as well as other interesting attractions. We even have time to take in the new Marina. The route is circular, beginning and ending at the Sculpture Park in Ayia Napa. If you are based in Protaras or Paralimni you can start in those towns and jump to the appropriate point. We do however recommend coming to the Sculpture Park and starting there, as it is best viewed either in the morning or evening.

Throw in some abandoned villages and beautiful countryside, and you have all the makings of a fantastic day out. 2022 Road Trip from Cyprus to Romania via Greece (ferry) North Macedonia and Serbia.
Summer Holiday road trip using the new ferry link between Cyprus and Greece and then a 1500km road trip to Romania via North Macedonia and Serbia.
-- In Greece there are multiple toll gates on the highway ranging between 1 euro to 4 (from Piraeus to Evzoni border crossing is around ~30 euros toal.
-- In North Macedonia is smaller and way cheaper total is around 7-10 euros you will need a GREEN CARD if your insurance is not covering it. You can buy one at the border crossing 38:48 in the video 50 euros for 2 weeks but less days are available cheaper.
-- In Serbia you get a white ticked at the toll gate where you join the highway then when you exit you pay according to how much distance you did. Crossing Serbia costed 15-18 euros
-- In Romania you are lucky if you find highways :D there is a short one ~40+ km between Timisoara and Arad no tolls but you have to buy Rovinieta vignette around 6 euros per week or 16 per month.

During lockdown we get a lot of gardening done. This means we have a lot of garden waste, that needs taking to one of the local Green Points.
A swift 4 on the old SMS, and we are off to the Akoursos Green Point. Unfortunately, we forgot it is shut on Wednesdays, so our next film will feature the drive from Akoursos to Chloraka Green Point.
