CULEBRA - PARADISE IN PUERTO RICO with WORLD'S BEST BEACH - PLAYA FLAMENCO 2024
We spent 24 hours on Culebra Island in Puerto Rico. It has one of the world's most beautiful beach - Playa Flamenco. Flying to Culebra with Flamenco Air was a lot of fun with scary landing at a tiny Culebra airport. We also rented a gold cart to explore the island which is the most convenient way to travel around as the island is pretty small and you can get around in an hour.
Next day we took a fast ferry from Culebra back to Puerto Rico mainland. It took only 45 minutes and was a lot of fun as you could see the ocean giant waves and enjoy fresh air with great views.
We highly recommend adding a day trip to Culebra island to your itinerary when in Puerto Rico.

Playa Flamenco isn't just the best beach on Culebra, it's one of the best in all Puerto Rico, and I can see why it appears on virtually every Top-whatever beach lists. One thing I wasn't expecting? Tanks. As in, Sherman M4 tanks, vintage WW2! The U.S. Navy used Culebra as a bombing and amphibious assault training facility until the locals got them to leave in the early '70's. They left a few souvenirs behind!

Last year, I went to Puerto Rico for the first time. I only spent a few days in the island's capital of San Juan. I knew that wasn't going to be my last time visiting the precious island, so as soon as someone commented that I must go to Flamenco Beach, I was sold. One of the top ten beaches in the... world?! And I'm only a 3 hour flight away? I NEED TO GO.

Isla Culebra is an island-municipality of Puerto Rico and geographically part of the Spanish Virgin Islands. It is located approximately 17 miles (27 km) east of the Puerto Rican mainland, 12 miles (19 km) west of St. Thomas and 9 miles (14 km) north of Vieques.
Originally called Isla del Pasaje and Isla de San Ildefonso, Culebra is also known as Isla Chiquita (Little Island), Cuna del Sol Borincano (Cradle of the Puerto Rican Sun) and Última Virgen (Last Virgin, due to its position at the end of the Virgin Islands archipelago).

In this video, we visited one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire world and it is located in Culebra, PR. Culebra is a small Island that belongs to the US territory Island of Puerto Rico. This awesome place is only about a hour drive from San Juan,PR to Ceiba,PR where you can get on a ferry that will take you to Culebra Island for about 5 usd round trip per person. If you are visiting Puerto Rico for a couple days, this should be one of your top 3 destinations to visit since Playa Flamenco (Flamenco Beach) located in Culebra has been recognized as on of the best 10 beaches in the world and trust me they are not lying about it. The best thing about the Island of Culebra is that it's kinda like visiting Disney World, once you arrive you can grab a map of the Island, rent a golf cart and go visit all the hidden gems that this place has to offer. If you are a US Citizen, good news for you! since Puerto Rico is a US Territory you DON'T need a passport to visit it and also you will be able to find most of the US local store such as Walmart, Best Buy, McDonald... and yes, their currency is the US Dollar and prices are very similar to the US mainland. So, don't waist anytime and plan your next vacations in PR.

Culebra Puerto Rico Travel Vlog- The Best Food on the Island + Best Beach in PR!?
Welcome to another vlog- this time I am taking you along with me to the beautiful island of Culebra, a smaller island off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. In this video you’ll see what many claim is Puerto Rico’s most beautiful beach, ranked among the best beaches in the world! Plus, our tips and tricks to make the most of your time and our favorite restaurants because what’s a great trip without equally amazing food!
First, make sure to reserve your ferry ticket early here on this website- it’s only about $2 one way per person but sells out fast. Plus make sure you have a way to get there, especially if you’re coming from San Juan as it’s about an hour and 15 minutes away (without tolls) or a few minutes faster with tolls.
Ferry Tickets:
I would recommend renting a golf cart- they’re super fun and easy to use and make going where you want super easy. Lots of people rent Jeeps but the island is very small so you can save some money and get a UTV- we had a great experience with Carlos Jeep Rental and it was super close to our Airbnb.
There are lots of airbnbs on the island and little boutique villas. I really loved the location of our Airbnb and it had everything we needed plus a cute rooftop and a walk to one of the only breakfast spots on the island (which turned out delicious)

Now on to the fun stuff- you definitely need to check out Flamenco beach if you’re visiting! The water is so clear and turquoise (nothing is edited in this video!) and the sand is soooo soft and white. However, since it’s very famous, it is very crowded. If you want another beautiful beach with very few people, check out Zoni beach on the other side of the island. You have to ride through some hills to arrive and when you are going down the hill to get to the beach overlooking the water, it is truly breathtaking. There is coral in the water here so be careful and respect the natural beauty of this island.
For food, if you get hungry or thirsty while at Flamenco beach there are some little kiosks which were super refreshing since it was very hot when we went. The empanadas were great! If you love dinner on the water, you have to check out Dinghy Dock or La Cocina del Navigante. We went to Dinghy Dock first but weren’t impressed with the menu- but it is right on the water and I would recommend stopping for a drink. Then we walked over to Cocina del Navigante and ate there- this also overlooks the water but is on a raised patio instead of being level with the water like Dinghy Dock. The fish was incredible here! Now on to breakfast, there are a few options, however a few aren’t open on weekends so that didn’t help us. Blac Flamingo Coffee is one of the very popular options and we enjoyed our food, although there weren’t too many options, but would definitely recommend and has a cute set up.
Overall, I have a similar conclusion about Culebra as I did about Vieques. They are both beautiful beautiful islands, but I also think the same about all of Puerto Rico. There are very limited options of restaurants and I think a lot of beaches on the mainland are equally stunning. If you have a long time in PR or love here, definitely make the trip out. Plus if you have a larger budget there are lots of fun water sports, boat excursions to do!

Flamenco Beach, Culebra, PR (Construction Update Nov 2021)
We Checked Out Flamenco Beach to see how the construction was coming about. It was awesome to see they are nearing completion. This beach is one of the best beaches in the world and the government is investing in it in order for it to top all charts.

Best Beach in Puerto Rico?! Playa Flamenco, June 2022!

Some consider this beach the best one in Puerto Rico. Playa Flamenco is on a tiny island off the northeastern side of the main island called Culebra. You can only get to it by a 50-minute ferry ride or 15-minute plane ride into Ceiba. You can also fly from San Juan and that only takes about 25 minutes. On this trip, we chose to fly since I got seasick on the ferry.
There are no big brand hotels or anything on the island. You have to do a Google search for places to stay. Some are listed on Airbnb but not all. You can rent a golf cart or Jeep from Carlos Jeep rental. There is also Jerry's Jeep Rental located next door to Carlos It's a great way to explore the island. We chose to rent from them both times we went there. Just make sure you reserve one if you plan on going during a busy time of year. It's a nice way to get around the island. We chose the Jeep since it has AC and protects us in case it rains. I will leave links below.
