You can really find anything you are looking for on that market, from modern goods like phone cases to traditional mayan robes and garments, vegetables, fruits, meat, you name it! On that day we could really feel what everybody is saying about Guatemala. It’s the country where tradition meets modern in the most sustainable way.

The market of Chichicastenango, in western Guatemala's Highlands, is about 90 miles from Guatemala city, the capital of Guatemala. It is situated at an altitude of almost 2000 m which is about 6600 feet. The town is surrounded by mountains and pine forests. Every Thursday and Sunday thousands of local descent on the town to sell their goods, handicrafts, food and produce.

During market days, the small town comes alive with beautiful textiles, handicrafts and exotic goods flooding the market stalls. The small town becomes a magnet for traders and tourists alike.

Ascanio Pignatelli Aragona Cortez was born in Rome and grew up in Turin, Italy in the early eighties at the height of “Red Brigade” terrorism. His father, the number two man at FIAT, was one of the prime targets of a communist organization bent on assassinating the heads of the capitalist society they so loathed. Ascanio was therefore a target; and consequently stripped of all freedoms and required to have a personal bodyguard and bulletproof car at all times.
This extremely dangerous and intense life soon became normal for Ascanio, and instilled upon him a taste for living life on the edge. Boredom quickly became his number one enemy; trouble his new best friend.
Throughout the rest of his adolescent years, Ascanio broke every rule he could and got expelled from every school he attended. Somehow he managed to graduate from Pepperdine University with a degree in economics in 1993 eventually landing a promissing job at Oppenheimer.
Unfortunately it was not money, but adventure that Ascanio craved and in 1997 he left the corporate world for good and pursued a career in SCUBA diving. He excelled rapidly, quickly discovering the dangerous worlds of cave and mixed gas diving.
As a SCUBA instructor he taught and led diving expeditions divers all over the Red Sea and Mexico before returning to Los Angeles to pursue documentary work.
In 2001, Ascanio created, hosted, produced and helped shoot an underwater series for the Travel Channel called Shark Chasers. That year he traveled to the worlds most shark-infested waters to hand feed, hypnotize and even ride the gentlest and most terrifying sharks on the planet.
He later discovered rock climbing and extreme mountain biking. Since 2001 Ascanio Mountain biking the most extreme terrain he can find in the western United States.
In late 2021, Ascanio left the United States to start his round the world motorcycle adventure. After crossing into Mexico where he spent two months Ascanio passed through Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Ascanio is currently in Central America riding his KTM 1290 super adventure R through some of the most dangerous, exotic and exciting countries to continue exploring places that are well off the beaten track and pursue his passion for extreme sports.
It looks like now Ascanio wants to take his extreme mountain biking skills and apply them to more adventurous off-road terrain. He now has his eyes set on the smaller KTM 890 adventure R and ktm 890 adventure rally motorcycles.
Ascanio is also blessed to work for one of the most amazing coaching and consulting companies in real estate, Workman Success Systems. He's been with Workman since 2018 as a senior coach and loves nothing more than to help his clients reach their lofty goals in all areas of life.
