Chichicastenango is a town in Guatemala and is also where the LARGEST market in Central America is! Today, we are on a mission to see if in 2021, Chichicastenango is still as big as it once was. A little hint, it was not what we had expected. ENJOY :)

Antigua Guatemala | Central America Travel Vlog | Things to do, weather, food, and more

See why Antigua is one of the must-see places in Central America in our travel vlog. A UNESCO world heritage site, for more than 200 years Antigua served as the seat of the military governor of the Spanish colony of Guatemala- a large region that included almost all of present-day Central America. First, we talk about the glorious weather in Antigua and some of the positioning of the city at an elevation of 5029ft. Then we walk to the very heart of Antigua: Parque Central (Central Park) with the fountain of the sirens at its center. Then we take a short walk to the Santa Catalina Arch, arguably the most famous landmark in all of Antigua if not all of Guatemala. The Santa Catalina Arch is not just a pretty tourist attraction, it was originally built with a very specific purpose. After lunch at the delicious Rincón Típico, we have a sweet treat at the Choco Museo (chocolate museum) while learning a little bit about how chocolate is made. Then it's off to another of Antigua's famous tourist destinations: the Convent of the Capuchinas (Convento Capuchinas). Like much of the historic city, the Convent of the Capuchinas was damaged during an earthquake many years ago, but it is still the perfect place to escape to when you want some peace and quiet. Lastly, we finish our day with some delicious Guatemalan coffee and catch a procession preparing for the famous Semana Santa. Unfortunately, Semana Santa (holy week) was canceled this year so we feel lucky to have seen this.

We filmed this episode of Antigua Guatemala in March 2020.

Guatemala, 2021

In March, 2021, I visited Guatemala City, Lake Atitlan, and Antigua.
Music: Batichica (KARAOKE) Ricardo Arjona

In this video, we visit the infamous Guatemala City… a city everyone told us NOT to travel to. Everyone we spoke to, locals and travelers, told us that Guatemala City is extremely dangerous and that there is nothing to do. However, people telling us this made us want to visit even more! As full time travelers, we constantly remind ourselves that there are always many perspectives and sides to every story. Instead of listening to others, we decided to explore Guatemala City for ourselves. We hope you ENJOY :) Have you even been to Guatemala City?

It's day 1 of my Guatemala adventure, and I'm dropping my bags at the hostel and getting LOST! I just arrived in Antigua with no plan, no direction, and no idea what's in store! Antigua Guatemala 2020 - Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala, Chichicastenango & Lake Atitlan

Antigua Guatemala 2020 - Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala, Chichicastenango & Lake Atitlan.

This is our revisit to Antigua Guatemala 2020. We're starting the year off right in Antigua. We fly into La Aurora international airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala. We then take an Uber from Guatemala to Antigua Guatemala for the first leg of our trip. We then head to Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango and to the largest mercado in Central America. As well as visiting Lake Atitlan. Guatemala City to Antigua is a good start when first arriving in Guatemala and Guatemala City. We were just in Antigua Guatemala 2019 and loved it so much, we were planning how to get back ever since then.

We highly recommend Guatemala travel of course. And of course we recommend visiting Antigua Guatemala as well. Antigua Guatemala is absolutely beautiful. If you've seen my last videos from Guatemala, you'll know that this our favorite country and city in the world. While we haven't been everywhere, we've been enough places and countries to know. Guatemala 2020 is starting the year off right. And Antigua Guatemala travel is an awesome way to start the year.

This is my Antigua Guatemala travel vlog. I hope you'll enjoy my Antigua Guatemala vlog. We took an Antigua guatemala walking tour as soon as we arrived in Antigua. We visited the Casa del jade antigua guatemala and made a couple of purchases. Our hotel was Casa Encantada Antigua Guatemala. Please see the videos to see how absolutely beautiful it was. It also included breakfast from the terrace. The Antigua Guatemala walking tour was great, which we were allowed to meet the new Vice Mayor and visiting the jade museum. Antigua Guatemala nightlife is excellent; while shutting down early, it's absolutely beautiful. Lot's of bars, restaurants and live entertainment. Again, this is my Guatemala travel vlog; I hope you enjoy, like and subscribe. Remember, travel Guatemala.

Below are links to the products that I recommend. If you choose to purchase any of them, I get a few pennies for it. #CommissionsEarned If I didn't highly recommend something I wouldn't put it on my channel.

Why Visit Guatemala - Antigua, Lake Atitlan & Ciudad Cayala

Why Visit Guatemala and Guatemala City 2021 - Antigua Guatemala & Lake Atitlan as well as Ciudad Cayala should be at the top of your list to visit.

My suggestion would be to visit Ciudad Cayala in Guatemala City first for a day. Then onto Antigua Guatemala for two days. From there three days in Panajachel at Lake Atitlan as well. That's right, Lake Atitlan is a must visit. As well as climbing one the nearby Guatemala volcanos.

Guatemala is my latest country to visit. This was a birthday celebration trip for my girlfriend. I think I picked a good one. Guatemala City was our first stop and we had an awesome AirBnB. Guatemala 2019 is a date and trip that we will never forget. We absolutely loved this country and its' history. Guatemala City 2019 is a place that we'll always recommend visiting. Visiting Guatemala was an awesome choice for her birthday. We just didn't know how good it would be. Visiting Guatemala City first was a good choice as well. Since we landed here it was a good choice to get a good AirBnB for the week as a base. Guatemala City to Antigua was our ultimate route. And of course we went from there as well to Lake Atitlan and Pacaya volcano as well. Visiting Antigua was good for us especially coming and going to and from Medellin Colombia. Guatemala travel is something we both recommend now.

There are plenty of things to do in Guatemala City. We chose to stay near our AirBnB since we were only a block away from Sexta Avenida or should I say Avenida Sexta. Visiting Antigua Guatemala was and is a good second stop. I'd actually recommend first experiencing Guatemala City nightlife before heading to Antigua Guatemala. Travel Guatemala should be on a t-shirt somewhere just like Guat's Up? I actually have that shirt. Guatemala City Travel is our tip recommend travel if you're looking to stay near the US but be outside of the US. Central and South America are great choices. It's the same time zone as well. Travel Guatemala city was my first choice and Honduras was my second. We've even checked out living in Guatemala and joined a Facebook group for expats in Guatemala. Food in Guatemala was awesome. Some not my first choice, but overall, this was our best food trip yet. Guatemalan food is something to check out when possible. And sexta avenida Guatemala is a walking street that you have to check out. There are no cars allowed but does have a free bus that runs periodically. Restaurants in Guatemala City were, again, awesome. We'd definitely tell you to check out La Cocina de la Senora Pu.

Central America (Spanish: América Central, pronounced [aˈmeɾika senˈtɾal] (About this soundlisten), Centroamérica pronounced [sentɾoaˈmeɾika] (About this soundlisten)) is a region of the Americas.[1] It is bordered by Mexico to the north, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south. Central America consists of seven countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. The combined population is estimated at 44.53 million (2016).[2]

Central America is a part of the Mesoamerican biodiversity hotspot, which extends from northern Guatemala to central Panama. Due to the presence of several active geologic faults and the Central America Volcanic Arc, there is a great deal of seismic activity in the region, such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, which has resulted in death, injury and property damage.

In the Pre-Columbian era, Central America was inhabited by the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica to the north and west and the Isthmo-Colombian peoples to the south and east. Following the Spanish expedition of Christopher Columbus' voyages to the Americas, Spain began to colonize the Americas. From 1609 to 1821, the majority of Central American territories (except for what would become Belize and Panama, and including the modern Mexican state of Chiapas) were governed by the viceroyalty of New Spain from Mexico City as the Captaincy General of Guatemala. On 24 August 1821, Spanish Viceroy Juan de O'Donojú signed the Treaty of Córdoba, which established New Spain's independence from Spain.[3] On 15 September 1821, the Act of Independence of Central America was enacted to announce Central America's separation from the Spanish Empire and provide for the establishment of a new Central American state. Some of New Spain's provinces in the Central American region (i.e. what would become Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica) were annexed to the First Mexican Empire; however, in 1823 they seceded from Mexico to form the Federal Republic of Central America until 1838.

In 1838, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala became the first of Central America's seven states to become independent autonomous countries, followed by El Salvador in 1841, Panama in 1903 and Belize in 1981[4] Despite the dissolution of the Federal Republic of Central America, there is anecdotal evidence that demonstrates that Salvadorans, Panamanians, Costa Ricans, Guatemalans, Hondurans and Nicaraguans continue to maintain a Central American identity[citation needed]. For instance, Central Americans sometimes refer to their nations as if they were provinces of a Central American state. It is not unusual to write C.A. after the country's name in formal and informal contexts. Governments in the region sometimes reinforce this sense of belonging to Central America in its citizens[citation needed]. Belizeans are usually identified as culturally West Indian rather than Central American.

AUTHENTIC Guatemalan STREET FOOD + Attractions | Guatemala City, Guatemala

???? WATCH: Antigua Food Tour

On my fifth day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Guatemala City and tried some of the most authentic Guatemalan street food!

Today we head out on a Guatemala City tour where we visit all the top attractions and we eat really authentic Guatemalan street food that you can only dream of.

Our first stop is the Guatemalan Typography Map where you can see what the country looks like with mountains, volcanoes and low lands. Next we head to Zone 1 (the historical center) and visit the central park. There we tried some fresh goat milk, saw the national palace, metropolitan cathedral and then head over the central market.

The central market is the biggest artisan market in Guatemala. We did a little shopping and then went to the lower level and ate some authentic Guatemalan street food. Here is a list of everything I tried:
