Driving the ALASKA HIGHWAY through Northern BC (Van Life in Canada)

This week we reach a huge milestone in our journey - Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway! We'd been warned about the risk of cracked windscreens along the Dalton Highway, and in Alaska in general. Gravel roads, snow melt carrying rocks and huge industrial lorries are not the best combination. But the inevitable happened much sooner than we anticipated!

↠ A BIT ABOUT US
We're Chesca and Ben, and with our two pups River & Scout (???? ???? ) we live and travel full-time in our self converted sprinter van, Sophia. We spent the past 2 years road tripping as much of Europe as we could, from the wild coasts of Portugal to the Syrian border in Turkey, tackling lockdowns and a van re-build along the way. But now, we're feeling like a new challenge. In the summer of 2022, we'll be shipping our van from the UK to Canada, on a mission to drive her all the way to Argentina!

Art We There Yet is a project co-created by artist José Luis Vílchez and songwriter Cora Rose. Our mission is to create art inspired by the Americas, and to give back to communities along the way. Aboard a school bus converted into an art and recording studio (a tiny house skoolie bus conversion), we are traveling 30,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina, touching 23 countries of the Americas over 7+ years! 3 day road trip from Whistler to Dawson Creek, BC (the start of the Alaska Highway!)

For the next stretch of our drive up to Alaska we drove 1,000 km up British Columbia, from Whistler to Dawson City (which is the start of the Alaska Highway)!

This was all new territory for us and over three days we got to admire some amazing scenery both from the van and on hikes, visit local businesses (and enjoy tasty +), learn some history, see wildlife, and overall just had a blast as we continued towards our goal of making it to Alaska.

First you'll follow us up the Alaska Highway in an RV as we learn about free camping in Canada and visit Liard Hotsprings.
We then make preparations to cross the border in an RV and successfully get in to our native country- imagine that!
Tim then surprises us all by renting a BMW motorcycle and driving the Dalton Highway.
We spend a week in Valdez appreciate all of the wildlife that surrounded us everyday before we drive the RV back to Anchorage to pick up Tim's parents for a week in the Kenai peninsula.

In the Kenai peninsula we go kayaking in Seward, Halibut fishing in Homer and bear viewing at Katmai National Park.

This video is the total whirlwind package of a cliche Alaskan vacation in an RV!

ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.

We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

ABOUT US
Hey y'all! We're Chris + Sara, a husband and wife travel duo currently working and traveling full time with our pup, Kramer. We've always dreamed of traveling full time, and in May of 2018 we took the leap and made it happen! Today we're balancing work and fun everywhere between the Pacific and Atlantic. From hiking and cycling to tacos and coffee, we're trying to see and experience as much of this world as we can! While our home is currently on wheels in our DIY Sprinter van, our travels take us all around the world.

Be sure to hit subscribe here on Youtube and follow along on Instagram for more daily fun! Oh, and be sure to say hi while you're here. :)

BC Road Trip on a Budget // Hasta Alaska // S04E11

Join us in BC as we attempt to road trip across Canada on a budget.

British Columbia didn't disappoint us and heading to Vancouver Island to explore was a great idea, if a little expensive. In this episode we are picking up more travelers and seeing what fun we can have in BC on a budget.

Thanks for sharing the adventure with us!

We're visiting Vancouver Island, Tofino, Vancouver city and Whistler before heading on to Alberta.
