I thought I'd start with a bang, and go straight in Uzbekistan's 250kmh (155mph) Afrosiyob highspeed train. We'll be travelling in VIP Class today in some super luxurious seats on the 2 hours trip from Tashkent to Samarkand, so come along and let's experience it together!

Traveling abroad isn't always easy as I learned the hard way on my recent trip to Central Asia. In this video I'll be covering a day trip that I took to the beautiful city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan, which didn't go exactly to plan. This journey saw me experience the country's high speed rail network to Bukhara and then back to Tashkent on their normal trains. Enjoy!

When traveling from Tashkent to Samarkand, we took business class on the modern high-speed Afrosiyob train for $12.50. As we went to book our train from Samarkand to Bukhara, we realized that the fast train was fully booked, so we decided to splurge ($15) for a VIP first class suite on the old train from the days of the Soviet Union. This felt like the perfect opportunity to try it, since train travel is so cheap in Uzbekistan compared to anywhere else we've traveled! Was having a private sleeper cabin on the old train worth it over a regular seat on the high-speed rail?

Afrosiyob is the fastest train in Uzbekistan, allowing you to quickly and comfortably travel between Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara .High-speed train Afrosiyob consists of 2 head locomotives, 9 passenger cars of first-class, business and economy class seats, also a dining car. All seats are equipped with comfortable reclining chairs; a table and footrest, built-in audio and video modules, there are monitors in the coaches. There are brochures about the technical matters of the train trip. There are luggage racks and hangers for clothing above the seats. All zones are non-smoking; lounges are equipped with good noise insulation.
There are special conditions for people on wheelchairs, in the third coach there are special fasteners for wheelchairs. Bistro dining coach offers soft drinks, coffee or tea, and snacks of oriental sweets.
The total capacity of the train is 257 persons. The maximum train speed - 250 km / h, the train covers the distance from Tashkent to Samarkand of 344 km in 2 hours 10 min.
Engine drivers and the conducting staff of the high-speed train have been trained mainly at the factory of Talgo and RENFE (Spain) companies.
Travelling by express train Afrosyob is a comfortable, fast and enjoyable trip to the main cities of the Great Silk Road – Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Karshi and Shahrisabz.
Without Afrosiyob train (Bullet train) travel ,Uzbekistan travel wont be completed. But getting tickets from there is the heculiar task for this. We can easily book the train ticket in Uzbek railways website in advance. Its very easy and safe. In this video i have explained about those details. It's time to continue our travels through Uzbekistan, this time heading to the historic city of Samarkand.
We were quite excited for this journey as this would be our first time experiencing First class on a sleeper train, and in fact any type of transportation. We travelled from Nukus to Samarkand overnight, for a total of 14 hours.
