Beautiful beaches, amazing landscapes, immense cultural relics and luxury are at its utmost. Beginning at the Italian boarder line up the famous cities. Menton is famous of its lemon festival, and it also has the best climate. The tiny duchy of Monaco is hallmarked by Monte Carlo casinos and the Formula-1 Grand Prix, while the Saint Jean peninsula has highest rate of aristocrats and celebrities per square meter. Nice, known by its flower carnival, is a big town, braided by its legendary seaside walkway, Promenade des Anglais. Antibes reminds us of Picasso and Napoleon, while Cannes is the European film capital. During the May Film Festival every star that matters walks that red carpet. St. Paul de Vence is the favorite corner of many of XX. century prominent artists. Surrounded by a town-wall, it is the showpiece of romantic Provencal settlement. St. Tropez, the city of the famous gendarme, was the most illustrious, most extravagant resort of the 60’s, brought into fashion by Brigitte Bardot and her friends.

Greece is the cradle of the European civilization, a quarry of mythology and ancient relics. On the Chalkidiki Peninsula we can visit the city of Thessalonica, the beaches of Katerini and Paralia, and from the boat we can take a look at the mystical monastery republic, Athos. Near the legendary Olympus Mountain we can take a look at the ‘rocks of gods’, the Meteora monasteries built on the sky-high cliffs. Athens’s well known building is the Acropolis, which is garlanded by the golden pillars of the Parthenon. The Agora was the marketplace of the ancient Athens, while the Plaka is a current, full of life eastern bazaar. From the capital the visitors can take journeys to the canal of Corinth and to the beaches of the Attican Riviera. From the dock of Pireus it is easy to take a boat and visit the islands of the Aegean and Ionic Sea. The islands tell us of Romans, Byzantines, pirates and knights. Among the olive tree gardens and orange trees white houses, temples and sunlit ruins are hiding. The sea is blue in the bays surrounded by beaches and on the terrace of a tavern the flavors of the Greek cuisine are always welcome.

Sofia is the capital of the Balkan nation of Bulgaria. It’s in the west of the country, below Vitosha Mountain. The city’s landmarks reflect more than 2,000 years of history, including Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Soviet occupation. Medieval Boyana Church has 13th-century frescoes. Built by the Romans in the 4th century, St. George Rotunda Church has medieval and Ottoman decoration dating to the 10th century.
Bulgaria is a Balkan nation with diverse terrain encompassing Black Sea coastline, a mountainous interior and rivers, including the Danube. A cultural melting pot with Greek, Slavic, Ottoman, and Persian influences, it has a rich heritage of traditional dance, music, costumes, and crafts. At the foot of domed Vitosha mountain is its capital city, Sofia, dating to the 5th century B.C.

Bulgaria is located in the extreme south east of Europe, a country of natural splendour, fairy-tale like villages, ancient ruins, and monasteries with remarkable frescos as well as a culture that is between both Orient and Occident. Sofia, the ‘wise woman’ and, since 1879, capital of the new Bulgaria, a city whose roots date back to the fifth century B.C. Once Thracians settled, then followed Romans, Goths, Huns and Ottomans. At the end of the nineteenth century the city’s appearance changed from Oriental to European into a dynamic metropolis. Sofia’s historic city centre features the most splendid sacred building in the Balkan Peninsula, the Aleksandâr Nevski Cathedral, a work of art of the Russian Orthodox religion that can accommodate a congregation of more than five thousand. Vidin is dominated by the Baba Vida Fortress whose impressive towers and bastion date back to the thirteenth century. From the banks of the Danube the north western entrances to the mediaeval realm were strictly controlled and the fortress protected it from invasion by ship. Varna is the biggest city on the Black Sea coast and is one of Europe’s oldest cities. The golden, shining domes of the impressive cathedral in the city centre are one of its main landmarks. The caves of western Rhodopes are the main destination for many of the region’s visitors, such as the Jagodina Cave that is ten kilometres long and extends up to five levels within the limestone mountains. It is the longest and deepest of the Rhodopes and its tunnels and huge galleries feature traces of prehistoric inhabitants. Bulgaria – on the border of both Occident and Orient - a country full of history and natural beauty with authentic culture and overwhelming hospitality. A colourful mixture of fascinating tribes with a large variety of tradition and, according to legend, a part of paradise that God gifted to the Bulgarian people!

The cathedral is of Neo-Byzantine style that was popular in Russia when famous Russian architect, Pomerancev, began to design it. Particularly impressive are the fine works of marble at the main entrance and the abundant stone mosaics on the external walls and above the doors. The cathedral is the city’s most important landmark and seems as though it wishes to present all of its splendour in a single moment, a work of art of the Russian Orthodox religion that can accommodate a congregation of more than five thousand. The church’s basement, that was first designed as a crypt, now contains an icon gallery with more than two hundred exhibits dating from the twelfth to the nineteenth centuries. The Aleksandâr Nevski Cathedral is a truly remarkable building, alive with the power of religious faith!

In a suburb of Sofia, capital of Bulgaria, and located on the slopes of the Vitoscha Mountains, is the country’s most worshipped-in historic building, Boyana Church. It actually comprises three churches that over the centuries have grown into a single entity. The first building covers an area of six square metres and after two centuries, a further two storey high church was added. The adjoining third church followed in the nineteenth century and is a unique combination of various architectural epochs. The view of the western wall and circular ceiling of the Narthex, is quite breathtaking as they are completely covered with art. Restoration work has taken place for several years and since 2002 Boyana Church has been open to the public.
