This was one of those life experiences I will remember for the rest of my life. I met so many kind and interesting people and a owe a big thanks to my friend Nazim! He gifted me with this amazing experience and I am so grateful! Next time I'm in Borneo, I'm visiting Brunei again! ^^

The Biggest Celebration in Brunei: Hari Raya
Brunei's massive palace is called Istana Nurul Iman and it's over 2.1 million square feet. Located in the Bruneian capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan, it's only open to the public for three days every year. This open house is to celebrate the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, with the celebration called Eid Mubarak. In Brunei, it’s known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and, when we visited, it took place in early June. People wish each other Happy Raya or Selamat Hari Raya. A massive buffet lunch is served free of charge and people can meet the royal family. We were so lucky to be in Brunei during the one time of year this celebration happens because it gave us the chance to meet many people from Brunei and observe this important cultural event.

Hey everyone! Welcome to our latest video where we take you on an exciting/scary trip to Brunei. This place has been in the news a lot, and we wanted to see what it's really like beyond what everyone talks about. So, we kicked off our adventure wanting to dive into the real Brunei - from its strict laws to its incredible wealth. It's a country that's caught between its rich traditions and some pretty tough rules. But what really blew us away was how friendly and welcoming the people are.
We got to check out the Sultan's massive palace, which is just mind-blowing with all its luxury. But it's not all about the glitz here; we also saw how the country takes care of its people, with free schooling and healthcare, which is pretty awesome. Our journey took us through bustling markets where everything's super cheap, beautiful mosques covered in gold, and even into the lives of the locals who invited us to share a meal with them. It was these moments that really made our trip special.
We also got a peek into the less flashy side of Brunei, visiting a water village and seeing how people live in houses on stilts right over the water. It felt like stepping into a whole different world. This video is all about showing you the real Brunei - from the fancy bits to the simple, everyday life of its people. We're here to share our experiences, the cool places we've seen, the delicious food we've tried, and the amazing people we've met along the way.

After 10 years, I have returned to the country that I enjoyed THE LEAST in all of my travels… Brunei. It’s a tiny country on Borneo island, sandwiched in between Malaysia and Indonesia, and I was very nervous to go back. Why? Because my last video there was all about how much I hated it, and I was so worried that I would be thrown in jail by the government, or even yelled at by the locals…. But this time around, I went in with fresh eyes and a new perspective, and I really enjoyed it!!!

I finally made it to Brunei guys! The country of Brunei was never on my list of traveling destinations. Though some how I made my way here and what an experience it was! Many people say there is not much to do in Brunei and it is not worth the visit, but I completely disagree! Brunei is a very interesting country with a lot to offer. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ???????????? Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

First impressions of Brunei during Ramadan ????????
Brunei is better with friends! I'm flying from Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, and I'm going to show you everything you need to know to have the best first day ever in this highly underrated country. First, we arrive the Brunei airport, to get Brunei dollar from the ATM, get a Brunei sim card, and call a Dart, so we can travel throughout the city. I get picked up by my Dart Driver, and then take a quick tour of the charming Radisson Hotel in Brunei. After that, it's time to meet up with some Chinese Bruneian friends that I met on Instagram. This lovely bunch of people takes me to a Brunei Ramadan Bazaar, where we feast on all their favorite local Bruneian foods. After that, we have a picnic near the Brunei frame, and enjoy the beautiful sounds and views of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, while reviewing all the tasty Brunei eats we bought.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah 77th Bday Meet and Greet at KB | Travel Vlog 30 Exploring Brunei | #brunei
Last 22 July, His Majesty, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah came to Kuala Belait District for a Meet and Greet. The Meet and Greet of the three municipalities of Brunei (Kuala Muara, Kuala Tutong and Kuala Belait} are a yearly activities in commemoration of the Sultan's birthday. Song and dance presentation are performed and free foods are given after the activity.
Meeting a Sultan from Malaysia (Agung) in Kampung Ayer, in Brunei ????????
While walking around in Kampung Ayer, the inhabitants tell me that a Sultan is coming today. I find the place where local people will welcome the Sultan, and I end up meeting him.
