One of the best ways to experience Bruneian food culture is to go to the Gadong Night Market in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei Darussalam. It is very similar to Hawker centres in Singapore, where fresh street food is prepared in a community centre and is very affordable. We came here after visiting the beautiful Bolkiah Mosque and set a $6 challenge to feast on a variety of the locals' favourite food items. We had Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mango Shake, Milo Dinosaur, aneka gorengan (fried snacks) and homemade chocolate cake. We also peeked inside the Gadong Mall Brunei!
Honestly, this is one of the best things to do in Brunei not for the food alone, but for a chance to see and interact with lovely locals and curious visitors.

Gadong wet market, Gadong, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Gadong is the location of Gadong Wet Market (Malay: Pasar Gadong), one of the main marketplaces in the city selling fresh meat and produce. Adjacent to it is Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong (also known as Gadong Night Market), the popular night market in town. Although it has existed for many years, it used to be a makeshift market, with tents erected on the parking spaces of the wet market. However, the night market has since been made permanent on the location with the completion of an open-air building. It was inaugurated in early 2017 and given the official Malay name Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong.

Why did I decide to travel to Brunei? Having been to almost every other country in Southeast Asia, I felt the need tick Brunei Darussalam off the list. In this travel vlog, I visit some of the top attractions in the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan. They include: the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Gadong Night Market, Kampong Ayer, and river boat tour.

I explored the country as a budget traveler first and as a wealthy tourist renting a car and cruising up and down the highways. I visited one of the most expensive hotels in Asia, the largest stilts village in the world, Brunei beaches, the jungle, browsed its crazy markets and befriended the locals.

I went for a budget Higher Hotel in an area that is 15 mins walk away from central Bandar Seri Begawan. I chose this hotel based on reviews and the fact it was completed very recently. I found the Higher Hotel to be an awesome value for money and a good compromise location wise.

FOOD Vloggers YOU will love this place!!! Im not a food vlogger but its a good place not to be miss when you are in Brunei. Food is also one of the best thing about life and its a way of immersing yourself into a different cultures so Don't forget to try their local foods especially the amboyat you will love it ???? and many many more.
