That is how we moved into our Grand Design Solitude full time mid February, 2020 - the day you know what was officially named.

Hey, Nick here! This channel started with us traveling across the southern United States during winter of 2018. If it were up to me, I would go full time in a heart beat, but the rest of my fam LOVES to do things that you just can't do on the road.
So, this is us - finding a happy medium.
With our new home base in Tennessee, we are exploring how we can do all the fun stuff of being home, along with the thrill of hitting the road from time to time.
We LOVE to explore this wonderful world our God created, and while we're out and about, we love pitching in and helping anywhere we can. We're using YouTube to chronicle our adventures, and to show little 'out of the box' things we've come across in our explorations.

Making a minor adjustment to the slide out on our new Jayco White Hawk 31RLKS. It's under warranty but I figured I'd give it a shot first before taking it back to the dealer and letting it sit there until they got a chance to look at it.
We knew that buying anything new required us to work the bugs out. Fortunately this was an easy fix!

Here is part 2 (the OUTSIDE) of our RV tour and review of the 2017 Grand Design Solitude 310 GK fifth wheel. We have owned it about a year and have lived full time in it for over 6 months. A lot has broken, which means Larry has learned a lot about the mechanics of this RV.

RV Slide Water Damage repaired with Duo Form Skis (RV Living) 4K
One of the drawbacks of living and traveling full time in an RV is when a repair needs to be done. Luckily, Larry is quite handy (he loves DIY projects) and does a ton of research. This time we had two out of three of our fifth wheel slides get water damage.
Where do you do a serious RV repair like water damage and slide out issues? What tools and supplies do you need? Do you need to call a mobile rv repair or take it to the RV manufacturer?
This video shows how to install an Duo Form Slide Ski to the bottoms of the slide to protect the slide from water damage and the RV floor from being marked by the slide going in and out. ; the bedroom slide was a small leak under the slide mechanism and was mostly just finding the leak and caulking). As Larry does, he goes through step by step how to do the RV repair on the slide and all the tools and materials he used (see link below for a list)

Large RV Storage Tube for Sewer Hoses plus more DIY (RV Living Full Time) 4K
RV Living Full Time has its challenges. When we were packing up to go on the road again after two months in quarantine lockdown in our hunker down spot (see video), we realized we needed storage for our extra sewer hoses. And we wanted more room in our RV basement in our Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel, so Larry did his DIY thing - with minor injuries haha
Make your own sewer hose storage tube that will hold even the largest sewer hose connectors and parts. Uses parts that you can get from any Lowes or Home Depot for about $30, using tools that you probably already have handy in your RV.
Anyone who has an RV, Van, Camper, Class A, Class B, Class C, Fifth Wheel, Travel Trailer, Schooly can use this mod to store their stinky, dirty Sewer hose. If you travel with a sewer hose you can use this MOD. Total Cost about $30 in parts from your local Lowes or Home Depot.
Why did we do this MOD?
We had to use 40 feet of sewer hose at the location that we were Hunkered down at for two months, but when we were ready to leave I didnt have a place to store the extra 20 feet of hose.
Our Grand Design 310KG came with an OEM storage tube make by D&W inc that could hold one 20 foot section of hose. We needed a place to store the dirty, stinky connectors and the extra hose. After searching on youtube, I came across a video by RV with Tito, where he used a 5 x 5 Vinyl fence post Tube to create his own DIY storage solution,

I could have installed another OEM tube like The Valterra EZ Hose or the SUPER TUBE from D&W inc.
but I wanted a solution that was larger that could hold a longer hose AND all the dirty connectors.

Drill Bit Set, need at least 1/8th, 3/8ths, and a large diameter around 3/4 to 1 inch
Hack Saw or any power saw, jig saw, sawz all ect
3/8 nut driver with 6 inch extension
3/8 socket with 6 inch extension and ratchet handle
1/4 hex shank to 3/8 socket adapter

HOMELESS! Grand Design Schwintek Slide Failure - Sagging Floors!
You've heard the age old saying, Expect the Unexpected, especially in RV Life!
Particular year models of Grand Design Solitude 390-RK are having structural issues with the kitchen Schwintek Slides, Sagging floors and Linoleum ripping. With Grand Design's permission we give you an inside look at Olaf (our RV) while it was in for repairs leaving us homeless for 2 weeks.

Broken Suspension on 5th Wheel snapped leaf spring (RV Living Full Time) 4K
No RVer wants to hear those words- Something is not right! But RV Living Full Time, those words bring on so much more meaning. And a broken suspension, on a Friday, late in the afternoon?
When our Lippert Components Leaf Spring snapped on our Grand Design Solitude- just as we were leaving for our next campground- we weren't sure what to do.
This video goes through our whole process of figuring out what was wrong, how to get help, what to do while we were waiting for help, and what to do if it happens again.

Travel Day Problems with RV/Camper and Truck (RV Living Full Time) 4K
One of my biggest fears as we went full time in our RV is things going wrong on travel day. And so much went wrong which made it seem we would have to cancel our Keys, Florida Trip!
But once again our pain is your gain. Learn from our mistakes and you can avoid some of what went wrong. Some of it you just have to be flexible and persevere- and keep an emergency fund.
Because of issues with our Ram 3500 Long bed Crew cab Dually truck, our Grand Design Solitude RV/Camper/Trailer fifth wheel with its Lippert leaf springs, and Larry's special medicine he takes for his RA (rheumatoid arthritis), our trip to the Keys (we HAD a 7 night reservation through Reserve America) was delayed pretty much 8 days. Some mistakes were ours and some were the manufacturers- both cost us big bucks.

Episode 2: Black Tank Issues | Moving Into Our RV | Grand Design Solitude 3740 BHR
Our second major episode and an example of what NOT to do! We learn the different black tank flush valves for the Grand Design Solitude 3740 BHR while having a hard first day of moving the RV and a major failure of flushing the black tanks. Later we fix the horrible smell with new air vents - one is a Syphon 360 and the other is a Camco Cyclone, and finally, we move into our RV for full-time living!
DIY Pool Noodle RV Slide Protection, Slide Corner Protectors (RV Living Full Time)
RV Living Full Time can have its headaches, but you don't want one literally. Check out this cheap RV hack that's easy to do.
If you dont want to make one, I sell them on etsy, $15 for two corners plus shipping
After banging my head a few times on my bedroom slide, I made some foamie corner protectors.Taking them off has been added to our hitch up checklist.

What you need:
Amazon store:
3-4 inch diameter pool foamie noodle, you can make 3 to 4 corner protectors from one foam noodle depending how long you make them.
We got ours at a Pinch A Penny Pool Supply Store for the fat ones.
skinny ones can be found at Dollar Trees
Bread knife, they just say through the foam easily and everyone should have a bread knife in their RV.
E6000 glue or some type of shoe gu type glue. It is important that you use a glue that is rubbery and flexible.
Duct Tape or any tape will do that sticks to the foam. If you don't have duct tape in your RV, something is wrong!
Sharpie marker of some sort, come on there is one in the back of the junk drawer
Measuring Tape - this is not really necessary, you can just wing it.
Something to make a right angle, i used a book in the video because everyone should have a book around they have been meaning to read but haven't, at least now you can use it for a good cause.
Nobody really needs a video to show how to make one of these, I just wanted to show how I made mine. Plus I am still trying how to shoot and edit video better and this was a great project to practice some of the things I learned in my latest Adobe Premiere pro learning course on Skill Share by Alli and Will

Fixing a Jammed RV Slideout - How to Retract Manually
In this video we show how we manually retracted our broken RV slideout so we could at least be able to tow the RV and continue camping until we can get it in to get it repaired.
Just as we were getting ready to head out for a weekend at Cedar Key, we discovered our kitchen slideout was making a terrible noise and wouldn't retract. After a phone call to Jayco's service department we were told how to manually retract the slideout to take it in for service.
