British Airways A318 Club World from London to New York

For many years, British Airways Flight 1 meant one thing: Concorde from London to New York. Today, British Airways Flight 1 has a different connotation. It's a British Airways A318 flying from London City (LCY) to Shannon (SNN) and on to New York (JFK). It's certainly British Airways' most unique route and, let's face it, a British Airways A318 flying across the Atlantic probably ranks up there as one of the most unique routes on the planet.

Here's a link to the full, unedited takeoff and landing footage from this flight:

But first, are you in the market for some new headphones? If so, please use the link below. Doing so will mean a small commission for this channel, which will help me produce even more content!

Now, in this video about British Airways Flight 1, I'll highlight the ground experience at LCY and SNN, the British Airways A318 Club World seat, the British Airways A318 Club World food, the British Airways A318 Club World in-flight entertainment, and the British Airways A318 Club World service.

British Airways Business Class has been discussed by other trip reporters at length. Here's my take on what is, arguably, the strangest British Airways Business Class around. Club World is a product with many variants. And this version of Club World is unique to the Airbus A318. It's worth noting British Airways A318 Club World is a special seat design worth taking a look at in this video about British Airways Flight 1.

In the end, I'll give the experience on British Airways A318 a score. But, I'm curious to know...after watching the video, how would you rate the British A318 service from London to New York?

I'll even give you my decision about whether I think this flight earned the designation it shared with Concorde: British Airways Flight 1.

12:24 What Happened?!

About British Airways (from Wikipedia):
British Airways (BA) is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom. It is headquartered in London, England, near its main hub at Heathrow Airport. The airline is the second largest UK-based carrier, based on fleet size and passengers carried, behind easyJet. In January 2011 BA merged with Iberia, creating the International Airlines Group (IAG), a holding company registered in Madrid, Spain. IAG is the world's third-largest airline group in terms of annual revenue and the second-largest in Europe.

About Heathrow Airport (from Wikipedia):
Heathrow Airport, called London Airport until 1966 and now known as London Heathrow(IATA: LHR, ICAO: EGLL), is the main international airport serving London, England. It is the largest of the six international airports in the London airport system (the others being Gatwick, City, Luton, Stansted, and Southend). The airport is owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings. In 2021, it was the seventh-busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic and eighth-busiest in Europe by total passenger traffic.

Revealing British Airways Economy in 2023

It's been a long time in coming for the channel but FINALLY, I've had the chance to feature British Airways in their economy class cabin aboard the channel.

This review will see me board one of their older 777-200's out of London Gatwick bound for sunny Orlando, Florida. The aircraft featured, like much of their LGW fleet has been fairly recently updated which showed well as part of the trip.

Overall, a decent experience with BA, the crew did a great job, the food offering was frequent and plentiful and cabin itself was relatively comfy by modern economy standards. Whilst the lounge featured at the start of the video was accessible with status or a premium cabin ticket only, there's a number of lounges at Gatwick which can be accessed via an on the day access fee, some of these also support priority pass from memory also on previous trips. That said, given the amount of restaurant choice available, the lounge was by no means that important.

To get hold of the luggage which I featured in todays video, you can go directly to either the LEVEL8 website or their Amazon store to purchase, links below:

British Airways Premium Economy in 2023

Got a full taste of the good and the bad on this one as I climbed aboard a British Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner, bound for sunny Dubai.

Overall, a decent flight with British Airways. That said, the cabins aboard the 787 are starting to show their age with the same hard product now in place for around 10 years. On the plus side, the food onboard was excellent during the main service!

I mentioned an important point during the review around status earning with the Premium Economy cabin. To earn Business Class lounge access and many other perks, 600 tier points is required. A one way flight from Heahtrow to Dubai nets 90 in Premium Economy vs the 20 or 35 in economy (depending on ticket type). Over the course of a few flights, this difference really stacks up and will go a long way to ensuring higher levels of status.

On the internet package front, the costs can scale up depending on length of use, this can typically be around £15 for the higher end option for the full flight.

To check out the newer Premium Economy onboard their 777, check out my recent video just here:

British Airways 787-10 | London to Newark | Transatlantic Flight in Economy

Airline: British Airways
Plane: 787-10
Seat: 48B
Cost: 30K Avios

The plane in the opening scene may not be a dash 10 Dreamliner, but I liked the footage, so I used it anyway!

The 787-10 is the largest variant of Boeing's popular Dreamliner widebody and British Airways just firmed up an order to add even more to their fleet. This is exciting news for an airline who had a rocky introduction to the dash 10, as a few ended up in storage right after they left the assembly line. British airways is only operating this aircraft to a handful of cities and I was lucky enough to find myself seated on one after a nice two week trip to Europe. Come along with me as we check out this sleek new aircraft on a flight from London (LHR) to Newark (EWR) in Economy!

You can find unedited takeoff and landing footage of this flight on NYC Flyer Plus.

Which Airline has the Best and Worst Economy Class Seat?

Which Airlines has the Best and Worst Economy Class Leg Room? There’s an impression that Economy seats are now more cramped. Seat backs are thinner than they once were. More seats got squeezed in each row. In this video, I listed 10 airlines that have the worst legroom. But you can also find some good Economy seats from this video.

The Japanese carriers really stand out of the pack in Economy Class. Japan Airlines is the world’s only airline to offer 8 abreast on the 787. All other airlines squeeze in one more seat with 9 seats per row on the 787.

Over time, Airlines also found ways to squeeze one more seat in each row (10 abreast) on the Boeing 777. In the video, I present a list of airlines that still has just 9 seats per row on the 777 which give you more width.

Air New Zealand and ANA have a pretty unique product to allow you to lie flat in Economy. Air New Zealand also has a future lie flat option called Skynest that provides passenger bunk space to lie flat in Economy.

The A380 – The world’s biggest passenger airliner are passenger’s favorite. There is 1 special seat on the main deck of the A380 that has amazing legroom. Find out more in the video. Asiana, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Emirates (2 class) A380 have Economy on upper deck seating which is quieter and more exclusive.

More and more airlines are upselling their economy Class. At the forward section of Economy and at exit rows, you will find Economy Plus or Economy space which has a couple more inches of legroom. At the end of the video, explore some of the best Premium Economy airline products.

TRIP REPORT | The Best Service Over the Atlantic! | San Francisco to London | British Airways B777

British Airways Trip Report flying from San Francisco to London onboard one of the British Airways Boeing 777-300ER on a lovely afternoon in San Francisco and a beautiful morning in the UK.

A very comfortable onboard the British Airways Boeing 777 from San Francisco to London Heathrow. The plane wasn't full so we were lucky enough to get a middle empty seat, which highly increased the comfort on this 10-hours flight.

After a beautiful review of San Francisco International Terminal, we boarded the British Airways Boeing 777 that would take us to London. We took off from runway 28R and made the initial climb over the San Francisco outskirts and the Pacific Ocean. We quickly made a right turn towards Canada.

On the first part of the flight, we found a lot of clouds as well as lots of storm clouds that we had to surround. But we were in winter, so how is it possible that we had storm clouds there? Well, you will find the explanation on the Trip Report as well! After 1 hour of flight, we enjoyed a beautiful Sunset over Montana, still over the US. From there, already in the night, we flew towards Hudson Bay, and then we entered the Nunavut region.

We flew across the Baffin Bay during the night, until we reached Greenland. From there we made a right turn that set us on direct course toward the UK. We overflew Derry and Belfast and crossed the Irish Sea towards Liverpool and Manchester. After a beautiful approach over the UK countryside, including one holding patter at a quite low altitude, we landed 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled at Heathrow airport.

Regarding the onboard service, British Airways is offering 2 warm meals on flights to the US west coast. The first one came 2h after takeoff with 2 options: chicken or pasta. The taste was pretty good; the only bad part of it was the bread, which felt like eating a stone. The second service, the breakfast, came around 1 hour before landing. It was a full warm English Breakfast with fruit. A very competitive service for a flight over the Atlantic. British Airways has clearly gone back to the pre-pandemic onboard service which really makes me really happy and clearly shows the path to follow for all the other airlines!

Now it's your turn!
Have you ever flown with British Airways? Which route? How was the experience? What do you think about the British Airways service? Have you ever been in San Francisco? Maybe in London? Have you ever flown on the Boeing 777?
Lots of things to talk about! See you in the comments!

British Airways Long-haul Economy

Overall a pretty decent experience with British Airways aboard their Boeing 777 from Hamad International Airport (Doha) through to London Gatwick.

In many ways, British Airways are inching towards being a better carrier. Despite the flight being full, the service was prompt and effeceint, food pretty good and aircraft interior modern. On the downsides, for a night flight, I've never found the BA economy seat to be terribly comfortable, not so much through a lack of space but more lower back comfort.

Link to my recent longer form review of this exact aircraft type just here:
