BRITISH AIRWAYS Negus 747 LAST EVER LANDING: FINAL TOUCHDOWN & SENDOFF - Kemble (Cotswold Airport)

British Airways Boeing 747-400, G-CIVB (Negus Retro Livery) made its last ever landing at Kemble/Cotswold Airport today after humbly serving for the airline for over 26 years. ????

British Airways retired their last two Boeing 747 aircraft today, with G-CIVY heading to St Athan, Wales for scrapping, and G-CIVB heading to Kemble with rumours circulating that it may well be preserved at the airfield. Large crowds gathered to watch the Queen of the Skies arrive for the final time, however it was rather touch and go, with the aircraft holding for half an hour waiting for a gap in the weather. Had this break in the clouds come any later, the aircraft would've diverted to Cardiff, but thankfully the clouds parted and allowed G-CIVB to make her last ever landing. Due to the heavy rain all morning, the 747 kicked up a good amount of spray as it slowed down on runway 26. You may remember from when Corsair retired their last 747 the crew could be seen waving the French flag out the roof hatch? Well, a similar thing happened today, with the crew waving the Union Jack out the hatch as the aircraft was towed off the runway - a very poignant moment indeed. ???? #BA747Farewell

Video filmed at Cotswold Airport (Kemble) on the 8th October 2020. ????

I hope you enjoyed my take on this special event, I am sure many of you have fantastic stories about this aircraft, maybe you worked on it or helped build it? Or maybe you just have fond memories of the British Airways 747 from trips to the airport? Whatever your story, I'd love to hear it in the comments section below. Please feel free to share the video and don't forget to hit the thumbs up too! ????

The Last British Airways B747 Flight - An Emotional Farewell

I travelled to the UK to see the Final British Airways 747 flight and landing. During this trip, I was able to see all 3 British Airways 747 Retro Liveries across the countryside in England and Wales.

My first stop was Dunsfold Aerodrome, where I visited the Landor livery 747. I was able to go inside and take a last look at the cabin and the cockpit. Then I drove to Cotswold Airport to see the Negus livery 747. Cotswold Airport CEO Suzannah Harvey personally gave me a tour, explaining the work being done to save the 747.

My last stop was in Cardiff, Wales where the BOAC livery 747 flew out from Cardiff to St Athan; it was only a short ferry flight but it was a very emotional one nonetheless, as this was the final BA 747 flight. I was at St Athan to watch the Final BA 747 landing. It was a momentous landing with a quick stop on the short runway. After landing, I went inside the 747 to interview the pilots and witness the final power down of the 747. It was the end of an era for the British Airways 747.

All 3 BA retro 747 liveries (Landor, Negus and BOAC) will be preserved in the UK.

Thanks to British Airways and SpeedBird TV for sharing some great footage:

BA 747 Negus PARTY PLANE!! Full Tour On board. G-CIVB. Kemble Cotswold Airport. 5th March 2022

BA's Negus 747, G-CIVB, flew to Kemble Cotswold in October 2020 and since then has undergone something of a transformation inside! Opening to the public for the first time this week, here is a full tour on board, showing you all of the aircraft cabins - including some surprises you've probably never seen before - I certainly hadn't!
Without giving the game away too much, the major change is in the ex- World Traveller cabin, where the seating has been removed to create 2 separate spaces. Nicknamed by the press as the Party Plane, you will see why when you walk through the aircraft with me in this film!!
There's also another surprise I found in the First Class cabin - how many thousands of passengers walked through that cabin and similar 747 cabins little knowing what lay beneath their feet!!
Entry is only by booking on the Cotswold Airport website - or through the Instagram Negus page - highly recommended! Until you get to go onboard yourself, enjoy this tour!

British Airways Boeing 747-400 Negus Retro Livery Low Takeoff at London Heathrow Airport - 24/08/19

Video: A clip of British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-CIVB in the Negus Retro livery seen taking off runway 09R with a low takeoff by the runway end, giving a nice RB211 screaming flyby. This was working BA275 to Las Vegas.
This was my first time catching this retro scheme on camera in a recent string of Heathrow plane spotting trips done with a newer camera.

BA Negus 747 revisited. G-CIVB. Kemble Cotswolds Airport. 7th July 2021 4K

9 months ago, on 8th October 2020, BA's last 2 747s departed from Heathrow, ending more than 50 years' ties between BA/BOAC and the iconic 747. The Negus livery 747, G-CIVB was one of the handful of the fleet that have survived - and flew direct to Kemble Cotswolds Airport on that same day, 8th October 2020 where it will be open to the public in the future.
9 months later I visited Kemble Cotswolds and filmed Negus, parked in a quiet corner of the apron area, alongside an ex Saudi 747. There was a tranquility about the moment, punctuated by a light aircraft practising circuits in the background.
I've reflected back in the film, to 2019, 3 days after CIVB came back into service in the new Negus livery - as part of the BA100 centenary celebrations, where we see her on final approach to Heathrow 27 Right, on Sunday 24th March 2019, returning with the BA 274 from Las Vegas.
Contrast this with the dismal rain and low cloud on 8th October 2020, just 17 months later, where we see Negus once more; this time leaving Heathrow on her final flight to Kemble as BA 400.

To me the contrasts were very striking - the peace and quiet of the final resting place of CIVB, with just a light aircraft and ex Saudi 747 for company, compared to the noise and activity of a typical busy Heathrow scene in 2019, compared to the grey sombre mood of the final rain soaked departure....Enjoy these moments...

BRITISH AIRWAYS NEGUS LIVERY NEWS VIDEO

Today British Airways completed their series of heritage liveries with arrival at Heathrow of a Negus painted Boeing 747-400.
The airline celebrating a 100 years of air travel using a British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) liveried Boeing 747, a British European Airways (BEA) Airbus 319 and a British Airways Landor 747 all now flying on their European or their long haul international routes.
Carrying the Negus livery which adorned the British Airways fleet from 1974-1980, directly after the merger of BOAC and BEA and the formation of the airline that customers know today.

British Airways 747 G-CIVB Negus. 4 Minute complete onboard tour. Cotswold Airport. 5th March 22.

Some of you have asked for a 4 minute highlight tour of BA's Negus 747 which opened for onboard viewing this week at Kemble Cotswold Airport. So here is a companion film to the longer tour onboard Negus that I released a couple of days ago; still giving you the essential feel of what Negus is like inside all the cabins but without as much detail. You'll still be able to get the full idea of the massive space that has been created at the back of the plane - ideal for parties - as well as other uses like cinema, conference or even weddings; as well as seeing around Club World, First, Upper Deck and into the Cockpit too.
There's a nice touch in the First Class Cabin, where the hatch that is used to access the avionics bay under the cabin floor, has been replaced with a sheet of toughened glass, so you can see directly down into the bay underneath the floor you've been walking on! Enjoy this quick tour!

British Airways Negus 747 is saved. G-CIVB to be preserved at Cotswold Airport. #QOTS

More good news! Today, Monday 26th October 2020, British Airways announced that G-CIVB will be permanently retired at Cotswold Airport. According to the official BA press release, the airport will maintain the aircraft and plans to convert an area of its interior to be used for business, conferencing and private hire venue as well as a cinema and educational facility for school trips.
According to BA, it is planned that the aircraft will be open to the public (COVID restrictions permitting) from Spring 2021.
A large percentage of the money raised from events on the aircraft will be used to support Cotwold Airport's scholarship programme and charities.
Here is a short film celebrating G-CIVB!

British Airways Boeing 747-400 Negus G-CIVB Kemble farewell with Pilots waving a last goodbye

British Airways Boeing 747-400 Negus Livery G-CIVB final landing into Kemble Cotswold Airport 8th October 2020 joining it's sisters in retirement.

This was worth the 300 mile round trip to see. At one point the weather looked like it was going to stop the landing but thankfully there was a sunny window that made it possible.

I was lucky enough to fly upper deck in 2019 which was a fantastic experience, felt like a private jet! Well I am assuming that's what it would feel like having not flown on a private jet :-)

Lovely touch from the Pilots at the end who signed the aircraft and gave a final wave to the crowd.

Thank you for watching my video. I have a lot of Military and Civil aircraft videos on my channel and plenty more that I still have to upload. If you enjoy watching all kinds of aircraft Subscribe to my free channel.

[Tripreport] Miami - London Heathrow ✈ British Airways Retro Boeing 747 (Negus)

This was a special journey back home due to the COVID-19 situation.
My original flight back home with Edelweiss and Lufthansa got cancelled and as I did not get a propper rebooking I had to book a new flight.

Until departure I was not 100% sure if these flight would take place or if they would get cancelled as well. As you can see everything worked out perfectly well and I got to fly with the beautiful Negus livery.
Thank you British Airways for taking me home!
