JUMPING OFF THE MAJURO BRIDGE
Join me and the Delap SDA Gang as we push our fears aside in some spectacular jumps off of the Majuro Bridge in the Marshall Islands.
The Bridge is an iconic landmark on the Majuro Atoll for several reasons. It is the highest piece of land on the island, standing at only ~22 feet or 6.5 meters above sea level it is the furthest you can travel in a taxi before being charged more than $1 for you ride, and it is a great place for thrill seekers to let loose on this tiny island paradise.

WE MET THE PRESIDENT AT A 5K RACE IN MAJURO
President's Day in Majuro happened this past November! The day was full of fun activities with the first event being a 5K race at 7am in the morning! I would have never guess what would happen next!

Education week is an annual event that takes place in February and involves all schools on the island in science, math, Marshallese spelling, and debate competitions. The week is centered around promoting Education to the students of the Marshall Islands and making Education fun.

MARSHALL ISLANDS HAVE A HOLIDAY THAT MAKES SENSE!
Join me and the Delap SDA fam as we prepare for and celebrate Manit Day 2019 at the school. Preparation started as early as weeks before for some classes and went all the way up until midnight the night before as they practiced their dances, dances, and decorated their classrooms. This holiday was way different than anything you will ever experience in the states!
Manit Day is a holiday that celebrates the cultures and customs of the Marshall Islands. Students are encouraged to prepare cultural dances, songs, foods, and handicrafts for the celebration of the holiday and their island culture.

I DANCE AT A MARSHALLESE KEMEM (1ST BIRTHDAY)
Join me and the Delap SDA gang as we dance in a semi-traditional Marshallese Kemem. We started off the night a little late and ended even later, but the experience was awesome and worth sharing! The night was full of laughter, food, singing, dancing, and turtles??! If you haven't already, make sure to like, comment, subscribe, and get that bell on!
Kemem: A baby's first birthday. Important in the Marshallese culture because it signifies that child has made it through the hardest part of its life. Following the US nuclear tests in the Marshall Islands throughout the '50s, miscarriages and jelly babies became more of a problem amongst the people of the Marshall Islands. This right of passage celebration now carries on the tradition with a fun twist.
Turtles: Turtles are not a common food in the Marshallese diet. They are seen as a rarity of sorts and are saved for very important events. In this case, the sea turtle in this video was hunted on Mili Atoll and brought all the way back to Majuro (82 mile boat trip to bring it back) for Marylynn's Kemem.

This video is meant to show some of the fun things one can do in Majuro during the high tide. Included in this video are jumping off the bridge, watching the waves from the seawall and pier, and swimming in the ocean. I've also included some clips for what happens when the tide is REALLY high.

Sailboat Line Jumping
This is just some of the fun that we had on the Boomerang. With a line attached to the mast we were pulled out over the water and jumped into the water. The farther the boat pulled the higher you went.
This was on a 3 day sailing trip on the Boomerang going around the Whitsunday Islands with 28 people.

This is at an island north of Ebeye called Bigej. It is a small island that only one family lives on. we went there for a camping trip as many of the locals do.
