Bosnian Breakfast in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Food Video Transcript:

Hello again from Mostar. We have been eating our way through the city and it has been wonderful. Today we're going to be showing you guys breakfast. Bosnian breakfast so we're eating at restaurant (Restoran) Divan and we are starting off with Bosnian Coffee which has quickly become one of our favorites. I love the presentation.

Back to the coffee preparation. It is prepared by boiling water and then you take the water off of the heat, you add your coffee grounds and then you put it to boil then you get this and because the grounds are in the water you have to let it settle so that you're not drinking you know crunchy coffee grounds.

I'm going to pour myself a little cup. You take the cube and you kind of nibble a little bit out of it. Bite the cube and then you sip your coffee.

That is nice and strong. Flavorful. Potent. Just the way I like my coffee. It wakes you up in the morning.

The food has arrived and as you can see the portions are massive. You know what the portions have been massive everywhere we've eaten. Yeah. Like they are really generous with their food here. They did say this was an appetizer for two. I mean are we going to be able to eat all this? Like look at the fritters that is a lot. I feel like this is an appetizer for 4.

I'll tell you what we ordered. We got uh a mixed platter. We did. With beef prosciutto, smoked sausages, travnic cheese (Travnički), livno cheese, sach cheese, sour cream and local doughnuts (miške). I actually tried these a few days ago yep we had them with cream cheese at another place.

They are really tasty. It also came with vegetables. Like cucumbers and tomato so yeah. And we have we've also ordered a couple kind of desserts to add to the breakfast fast.

Dessert for breakfast. We are really improvising here. So look at this. This looks amazing. I'm just going to break it in half with my hands. It is almost like a donut (Uštipci).

We just couldn't resist ordering a little something sweet. I believe this one is called Hurmašice. We had it once before at another restaurant it is very good by the river and it is basically like a coconut cookie. I think they call it a coconut finger. That is just like oozing sugary syrup.

Sam is going in for the other dessert called Smokvara. Yeah. And it is basically if you look at the shape it looks like it is shaped like a fig patty. And if you think the coconut dessert had a lot syrup this one is swimming in it.

That was a top notch breakfast. In terms of price point it came to 29 in local currency which was uh 17 US dollars or 14 Euros and we were defeated by that breakfast. We couldn't even finish it all. It was so much food but it was delicious. The setting was great and yeah it was just a wonderful way to start the day. And there were cats. Lots of happy moments so we'll see you guys next time. Tata.

Come join us for our favorite Bosnian food in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina as we head over to Ćevabdžinica Tima-Irma that specializes in grilled meat platters and Ćevapi minced meat.

What makes this particular restaurant in Mostar are favorite place to eat a Bosnian meal? Firstly, the portions are enormous and quality of the meat, cheeses and produce is fantastic and beautifully presented. Secondly, the friendly atmosphere and service of this family run business makes you want to come back again and again. As we paid and left a tip we were given a postcard and beer to take back home.

Our favorite Bosnian Food in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina at Ćevabdžinica Tima Irma travel food video transcript:

Time for another food video here in Mostar. I believe this is our third and we're on a role. We are. We're going to keep going. There are so many great restaurants and so much food to try.

Okay, so today we are eating at Ćevabdžinica Tima-Irma and it is one of the top rated restaurants here in Mostar so I'm pretty excited and they specialize in something Sam has been wanting to have for a while now. The Ćevapi. The ćevapčići. Right here. We've ordered that and then we also ordered a mixed meat platter for one. I have a feeling it is going to be enough meat for the two of us actually.

I got the traditional mixed meat for one with a mixed salad, cheese, sauce, cream cheese, traditional bread and it doesn't list the meats individually but woah ho ho we've got the meat sausage. I believe it is um veal and beef if I read that right. Is that the cevapi?

I believe this is the is this veal or is it tenderloin? I've seen this elsewhere and it kind of looks like a patty.

I should be using the sauces. They came with so many sauces. Haha. We've got mustard and this looks like it could be spicy.

With some cheese.

Everything is so good. That just looks so good. And the grilled vegetables. I have zucchini. I have onions. And I have bread. Look at that. It almost oh no that is chicken. What am I talking about.

I got a beer. So this is called Mostarsko Pivo.

Ćevapi. So these are grilled meat Bosnian sausages. They can be lamb and beef. Yeah, mixture. It is a mixture of lamb and beef. Yeah. And look at that. They've just stuffed this pita. Let's count. Nine of these bad boys in there. Woah. Yeah. Woah. And it comes with some onions, some chopped onions, some of that spicy sauce. It looks wonderful looking pita.

Price point. So that came to 33 in the local currency which was 19 US dollars and we left a tip because we always do and on the way out they gave Sam a little beer to take home and a postcard. They are so sweet. And wasn't that just like a wonderful meal? It was amazing. In every way. So much food, such good quality and I think that maybe one of my new favorite place now in Mostar. Highly recommend you guys go there.

Mostar Food Review - Eating Bosnian Dishes at Šadrvan restaurant in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Video Transcript:

We have come back to our favorite restaurant in all of Mostar. We're at Šadrvan. What is this? Like our third, fourth time eating here in a matter of days? It is our third time.

So we've ordered two glasses of red wine. We are having Blatina and we tried this for the first time and it is a nice full body red, dry like just wonderful flavor and aftertaste.

We are starting off with Schnitzel Šadrvanska Story. And what is in it? It has got so much in it that I'm going to read it off of the menu. Haha. I don't want to mess up.

So guys it is steak with turkey and ham, smoked cheese, breaded in a French manner with mushroom sauce, white wine and cream. Oh my. Now if that sounds decadent.

Okay so for my dish I got dolma and I feel like I've probably already shown this before because I've been eating a lot of it almost on a daily basis. We haven't shown it here though. And it does look different. I know we showed one dolma when we filmed here but they have two different kinds. This one is different. This one is dolma baked in cream. So you've got like the little peppers stuffed with rice, stuffed with minced meat. You've got some chopped carrots. It is really good and it comes with cream in the middle.

It is definitely good. It has got I mean the leaf wrapper. It is completely different texture from this but if I had to pick between the two I would go for this one. The pepper.

Well well it is time for dessert. For mine I also ordered a dessert I had on my first night here. I believe it is pronounced tufahija (tufahije). It is a poached apple that I think has been cooked in like sugary water and then the apple is stuffed with nuts. Then it has whipped cream on top.

Sam over here got baklava. Compared to normal baklava in other places they are a bit more generous with the nuts. It is also a bit thicker than normal making it more delicious.

So time to talk about the bill. It came to 46 in local currency which was 27 US dollars or 23 Euros. We ordered five food items. Basically the two appetizers and then the big meat dish and then two desserts and two glasses of wine. Excellent value and the food was fantastic. Just a wonderful way for us to finish off our time here in Mostar. Bye.

Bosnian Food Review - 5 Things to try in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Video Transcript:

Well hello there! We managed to find a really cool restaurant and we're going to go film there today. The rain hasn't stopped but it is a little bit lighter so we're going to make our way there and yeah show you what Bosnian and Herzegovina food is all about.

I'm very excited to be trying Bosnian coffee. Oh yeah. This is my very 1st time to try it. Apparently it is very similar to Turkish coffee. Super strong. It is supposed to be very strong. The grounds apparently are uh the coffee grounds are still at the very bottom. Yeah, so they're not filtered. They are not filtered out of the water so you have to let them yep settle before you pour yourself a cup.
It is nice and strong.

Also I feel like I should mention where we are eating because we kind of just ran in here with our umbrellas and didn't really show you the outside. It is called Šadrvan and it is on the west side of the river just as soon as you cross the bridge.

The feast has landed on the table. It sure has. And we're going to start with the first dish which is Dolma. Yeah. And if you have a closer look at this it is basically stuffed peppers with minced meat, rice, parsley, onions and it comes with a giant dollop of cream in the middle. A giant dollop.

This is kind of the ultimate mix plate with tonnes of sour cream. Sour cream. So then you have another one dolma stuffed pepper over there. One dolma.

What is really cool over here is you have it looks like some stewed meat. It is so tender I had that last night. And then you have the Bosnian cookies which is not a cookie at all.

So what is in it? I had this last night and it is basically like a beef patty. Right. So it made with ground beef, eggs, garlic, I think onions and like a little bit of breadcrumbs to give it texture along with rice.

Okay dish number 3. This isn't actually a main. This was our side order. Yeah. And we were trying to keep things relatively healthy. Yeah. So we got a grilled vegetable platter. So if you take a closer look we've got some slices of eggplant, zucchini. We have some mushrooms. It looks like another whole pepper.

And now for dessert and we're having Baklava. It is basically kind of like a mille feux pastry. Like a puffed pastry with all of these layers. And in between you've got like these finely chopped nuts. Yeah. With either honey or some kind of sugary syrup.

We just paid the bill. We sure did. What was the damage? So in local currency which is Bosnian Convertible Marka which has like I think 1.6 exchange rate with the US dollar. That came to twenty two US dollars and fifty cents and in Euros that was 19.40.

We'd give it a five out of five. We'll be back again. Tata!

Bosnian Cuisine - Trying Traditional Dishes in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Video Transcript:

It is time for another food video here in Mostar. Yesterday when we went for a walk late at night we spotted this restaurant. it is right by the crooked bridge next to the river. it looked so cool and cozy. They have a fireplace and yeah we were like we need to come back. So we were in the area today just doing some sightseeing and it is right around lunch. We got hungry and we're like yeah let's eat here. So here we are. It is called Konoba Taurus.

The food has arrived at the table and we have this massive platter in front of us and it looks so good. So I'm just going to read off of the menu to let you know everything we got because it has all been served together. Yeah. And wow. Okay, so the first thing we ordered was the Mostarski Sahan which includes stuffed peppers (punjene paprike), stuffed courgettes (punjene tikvice) which I believe is that zucchini is that just a different word for zucchini? And stuffed onions (sogan dolma). And then aside from that we also asked for what else did we get? The Cufte. Kofte. Cufte? Something like that um which are the meatballs and then we also got something called Japrak which are the stuffed vine leaves. And oh man this is just like steaming in front of us can you and the aromas are tantalizing.

as you can probably tell it is time for dessert. We ordered two different ones. Let me tell you what they are.

So the first one I believe is called Hurmasica but I'm kind of whispering it so you know the locals won't hear me and be like haha she can't say it. Um and that is the coconut finger which I believe is this one.

And then the other one is called Smokvara. Smokvara? Okay. Something like that. And this one is the fig dessert. Yeah. So also we've got some tea. Oh yeah, we got chai. It is Sepak. I believe. It looks like a red berry. Yeah.

Never tried that before.

It is time for price point. So in local currency which by the way is called BAM. Bosnian Convertible Marka that came to 36 which is 21.40 US dollars or 18.40 Euros or 16.31 Great British Pounds. Alright look at you covering all of the currencies. Yeah. I thought that was uh a steal of a meal in terms of value. Wonderful. We got a one litre sparkling water which we didn't show you that enormous plate that included three mains. Uh complimentary bread, two desserts and two teas for that price. So yeah. It doesn't get too much better than that and with a setting like this and with a meal that was that filling and that satisfying highly recommend going there for sure.

10 Things to do in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Мостар)

Welcome to Mostar! In today’s video we’re showing you around one of the great gems of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mostar was one of the many stops of our travels through the Balkans, but it ranked right at the very top! This city is as postcard-perfect as they come, complete with Ottoman constructions, soaring minarets, and colourful buildings that overlook the emerald waters of the Neretva River. Our time here was spent wandering through the markets, sampling local dishes, and visiting a few mosques and museums along the way, so come and join us in this travel guide as we show you around Mostar (Мостар) and give you a few ideas for your own trip!

This street is lined with restaurants, cafes, and hotels, but as you approach the famed Old Bridge, it turns into a bit of a bazaar with small shops that are bursting at the seams with souvenirs.

Stari Most, also known as the Old Bridge, which is the city’s main landmark. This 16th-century Ottoman bridge joins the two parts of the city across the River Neretva.

And that’s a wrap for Mostar! This was one of our favourite destinations of 2017.

With its Ottoman architectural wonders, delicious dishes served in heaping platters, and warm locals who take hospitality to a whole new level, there’s a lot to love about the city! Mostar is strikingly beautiful, but it’s the people who give the place its soul.

Yes, the city’s been through a lot, and it still bears the scars of a horrible war fought in the 90s, but Mostar has picked itself up and is showing visitors all it has to offer.

We hope you enjoyed getting to experience this city through our eyes on this travel guide, and as always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in Mostar, feel free to share your tips with travellers in the comments below.

Top Restaurants in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Top Restaurants in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina

►Read the blog:

In this episode David visits two of the top restaurants in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Restaurant Sadrvan serves Balkan cuisine accompanied by delicious wines from Herzegovina. It’s located in the heart of the Old Town, on the northern side of Stari Most (the old bridge). The menu at Sadrvan is heavily influenced by the traditional cuisine of the Ottoman empire. The baklava here is to die for! We also had the opportunity to try a Lodza, which is a cherry flavored Rakia.

Next up we visit a small cozy restaurant called Tirma-Irma. This place is famous for its Cevapcici, the most famous dish in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tima-Irma is named after the owner, Irma. Imagine a Bosnian BBQ joint, with good wine and amazing staff! They also have live music on certain nights. Dining at Time-Irma was definitely one of the highlights of visiting Mostar.

Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina | The Perfect One Day Itinerary & Things To Do

We spent an entire day exploring Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina with the perfect one day itinerary! There are some truly great things to do, and most of them have to do with Bosnia's complicated history.

We started our day in Mostar at the most iconic place: the Stari Most bridge. This Ottoman-style bridge was originally built back in the 16th century, but was destroyed in the 1990's during the Bosnian war. It was rebuilt and reopened in 2004! We even found the staircase that leads down to the Neretva River banks and viewed the bridge from down below.

Next up, we checked out a beautiful mosque and the old bazaar. After that, it was time for an authentic Bosnian breakfast! We ate at Restoran Lagero overlooking the bridge. The food and views were both spectacular!

After that, we visited the old sniping tower, the Spanish square, Park Zrinjevac, the Croatian Lodge, and so much more! At the end of the video, we get drinks at an awesome local cafe/bar recommended by our Airbnb host. It's called Coco Loco and we highly recommend it!
