This week we're in Bordeaux - one of France's most vibrant and dynamic cities. We park our motorhome right next to Lac de Bordeaux at a very comfortable campsite from where it's a pleasant cycle to the river and central Bordeaux.
In the last decade and a half, Bordeaux has shed its languid, Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty) image thanks to the vision of city mayor Alain Juppé who has pedestrianised boulevards, restored neoclassical architecture, created a high-tech public transport system and reclaimed Bordeaux’ former industrial wet docks at Bassin à Flots. Half the city (18 sq km) is UNESCO-listed, making it the largest urban World Heritage Site; while world-class architects have designed a bevy of striking new buildings – the Herzog & de Meuron stadium (2015), decanter-shaped La Cité du Vin (2016) and Jean-Jacques Bosc bridge (2018) across the Garonne River included.

Bordeaux - France (People in the streets) Frankreich
Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne River in the Gironde department in southwestern France.
The municipality (commune) of Bordeaux proper has a population of 241,287 (2012). Together with its suburbs and satellite towns Bordeaux is the center of the Bordeaux Métropole, which with 737,492 inhabitants (as of 2012) is the 6th largest in France. It is the capital of the Aquitaine region, as well as the prefecture of the Gironde department. Its inhabitants are called Bordelais (for men) or Bordelaises (women). The term Bordelais may also refer to the city and its surrounding region.
The city's nicknames are La perle d'Aquitaine (The Pearl of Aquitaine), and La Belle Endormie (Sleeping Beauty) in reference to the old center which had black walls due to pollution. Nowadays, this is not the case. In fact, a part of the city, Le Port de La Lune, was almost completely renovated.
Bordeaux is the world's major wine industry capital. It is home to the world's main wine fair, Vinexpo (fr), while the wine economy in the metro area takes in 14.5 billion euros each year. Bordeaux wine has been produced in the region since the 8th century. The historic part of the city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble of the 18th century.

Ground-level power supply, also known as surface current collection and Alimentation par le Sol (APS, which literally means feeding via the ground), is a modern method of third-rail electrical pick-up for street trams. It was invented for the Bordeaux tramway (Tramway de Bordeaux), which was constructed from 2000 and opened in 2003. Until 2011, this was the only place it was used, with proposals to install it elsewhere. Reims has adopted this technology for its new Reims Tramway (Tramway de Reims), which was opened in 2011, as have Angers (Tramway d'Angers) and Dubai (Al Sufouh Tram).

The Rue Sainte-Catherine is one of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe and you can find most of the biggest brands here. The variety is huge: from bakeries and cafés to clothings, make ups, sports and tech stores.

Bordeaux, a city known for its good wine. But in autumn and winter it turns into a city of rain. Lucky for rain lovers like myself. So I decided to share this wonderful feeling of walking in the rain. To give you the most real experience possible, I equipped myself with a binaural microphone and a 4K camera with stabilizer.
