Bolivia is Its geography varies from the peaks of the Andes in the West to lowland of Amazonas in the East.
In this short movie, I captured Andes region which include Salar de Uyuni ,Siloli Desert, Laguna Colorada, geyser, and the biggest city La Paz.
I have traveled Bolivia every year since 2012 till 2019 before Pandemic has begun.
This Andean area is higher than 10,000feet /3,300m .Even La Paz airport sits 13,325ft /4.061m high.
Uyuni has rainy season from December to March, That means salt flat has plenty of water.
so It turns the world largest natural mirror and it's worth to see it.
Siloli desert is higher than Uyuni salt flat.It's colorful and has many lakes.
one of the beautiful lake is Laguna Colorada.There are many flamingos.Water color is reddish.
also geyser is higher than those lakes.It's approx 15,000ft/5,000m high.
I mainly used timelapse technique.

Salar de Uyuni (or Salar de Tunupa) is the world's largest salt flat, or playa, at over 10,000 square kilometres (3,900 sq mi) in area. It is in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes at an elevation of 3,656 m (11,995 ft) above sea level.
The Salar was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes that existed around forty thousand years ago but had all evaporated over time. It is now covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with the average elevation variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar. The crust serves as a source of salt and covers a pool of brine, which is exceptionally rich in lithium. The large area, clear skies, and exceptional flatness of the surface make the Salar ideal for calibrating the altimeters of Earth observation satellites. Following rain, a thin layer of dead calm water transforms the flat into the world's largest mirror, 129 km (80 mi) across.
The Salar serves as the major transport route across the Bolivian Altiplano and is a prime breeding ground for several species of flamingos. Salar de Uyuni is also a climatological transitional zone since the towering tropical cumulus congestus and cumulonimbus incus clouds that form in the eastern part of the salt flat during the summer cannot permeate beyond its drier western edges, near the Chilean border and the Atacama Desert.[citation needed]
Salar has been used as a filming location for movies such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017; as planet Crait), The Fall (2006), Salt and Fire (2016), The Unseen (2017), and several others.
Name
Salar means salt flat in Spanish. Uyuni originates from the Aymara language and means a pen (enclosure); Uyuni is a surname and the name of a town that serves as a gateway for tourists visiting the Salar. Thus Salar de Uyuni can be loosely translated as a salt flat with enclosures, the latter possibly referring to the islands of the Salar; or as salt-flat at Uyuni (the town named 'pen for animals').
Aymara legend tells that the mountains Tunupa, Kusku, and Kusina, which surround the Salar, were giant people. Tunupa married Kusku, but Kusku ran away from her with Kusina. Grieving Tunupa started to cry while breastfeeding her son. Her tears mixed with milk and formed the Salar. Many locals consider the Tunupa an important deity and say that the place should be called Salar de Tunupa rather than Salar de Uyuni
Flora and fauna
The Salar is virtually devoid of any wildlife or vegetation. The latter is dominated by giant cacti (Echinopsis atacamensis pasacana, Echinopsis tarijensis, etc.). They grow at a rate of about 1 cm/a to a height of about 12 m (39 ft). Other shrubs include Pilaya, which is used by locals to cure catarrh, and Thola (Baccharis dracunculifolia), which is burned as a fuel. Also present are quinoa plants and queñua bushes.
Every November, Salar de Uyuni is the breeding ground for three South American species of flamingo feeding on local brine shrimps: the Chilean, Andean, and rare James's flamingos. About 80 other bird species are present, including the horned coot, Andean goose, and Andean hillstar. The Andean fox, or culpeo, is also present, and islands in the Salar (in particular Incahuasi Island) host colonies of rabbit-like viscachas.

The reflections produced by the water flooding the area in the rainy season, are the main protagonist of Enrique Pacheco´s camera, who invites us to dream with impossible images from another world, where the sky meets the earth forming an infinite mirage.
The salt flat of Uyuni with over 10,000km2 is the largest in the world. It is located in the province of Potosi, Bolivia, near the Andes, at an altitude of 3.656m.
The Salar serves as a transport route through the Altiplano of Bolivia, but tourism has an increasingly more important role in the area.

Combined footage of my epic adventures in Bolivia, which started in the capital La Paz and the city of El Alto at a dizzy height of well over 4,000m above sea level. From there, we took a 4x4 jeep to traverse across the surreal landscape of the Bolivian Altiplano. The highlight of which is crossing over the highest (above 3,600m) and largest salt flat in the world: the Salar de Uyuni. The vast and desolate salt flat is captured in HD drone (DJI Mavic Air) footage at sunset.

Uyuni, town, southwestern Bolivia. It lies on the cold, windswept Altiplano, a high intermontane plateau, at 12,024 feet (3,665 metres) above sea level, just east of the vast Uyuni Salt Flat.
Founded in 1890, it prospered, with the assistance of Slav and Syrian colonists, as a railroad junction and mining and market centre. Uyuni lost its importance when mineral prices dropped, but it regained growth through tourism. The town has become the starting point for tours to the Uyuni Salt Flat and Incahuasi Island (known as Fisherman’s Island), formed on the remains of a volcano that rises about 500 feet (150 metres) above the surface of a salt lake. Archaeological sites and tunnels are found on the island, and thousands of cacti, some reaching higher than 30 feet (10 metres), grow there.
The Salar de Uyuni and it surroundings are among the most beautiful places on Earth. The town of Uyuni, on the other hand, is not. Dusty, windy and bitterly cold, many travelers get out as soon as possible. But after a grueling three days in a bumpy jeep, it makes sense to stay and sleep in a warm bed rather than brave the overnight bus.
The most popular jumping-off point for salt flats tours, Uyuni is a small, dusty town packed with tourism agencies in Plaza Arce, its main square. Travelers can book tours in advance online, through tour offices in La Paz, or they can simply arrive in Uyuni and peruse the options in town. Since Uyuni is so close to the salt flats, tourists can easily book day trips. Flights from La Paz to Uyuni can be booked through Amaszonas and BoA (one hour, about $130 round-trip). Overnight buses from La Paz are available with Trans Omar and Todo Turismo (10-12 hours, $30 to $40 each way).

Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni is considered one of the most extreme and remarkable vistas in all of South America, if not Earth. Stretching more than 4,050 square miles of the Altiplano, it is the world’s largest salt flat, left behind by prehistoric lakes that evaporated long ago. Here, a thick crust of salt extends to the horizon, covered by quilted, polygonal patterns of salt rising from the ground.
At certain times of the year, nearby lakes overflow and a thin layer of water transform the flats into a stunning reflection of the sky. This beautiful and otherworldly terrain serves as a lucrative extraction site for salt and lithium—the element responsible for powering laptops, smartphones, and electric cars. In addition to local workers who harvest these minerals, the landscape is home to the world's first salt hotel and is populated by road-tripping tourists. The harsh beauty and desolateness of Salar de Uyuni can make for an incredible experience or a logistical nightmare. Here’s a guide to help:
HOW TO GET THERE
Located at the crux of Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina, the logistics and length of your trip to Salar de Uyuni will depend on where you’re coming from. Tours originate from three main places:
Uyuni, Bolivia: The most popular jumping-off point for salt flats tours, Uyuni is a small, dusty town packed with tourism agencies in Plaza Arce, its main square. Travellers can book tours in advance online, through tour offices in La Paz, or they can simply arrive in Uyuni and peruse the options in town. Since Uyuni is so close to the salt flats, tourists can easily book day trips. Flights from La Paz to Uyuni can be booked through Amaszonas and BoA (one hour, about $130 round-trip). Overnight buses from La Paz are available with Trans Omar and Todo Turismo (10-12 hours, $30 to $40 each way).
