Boiling Lake - Jungle Bay Resort & Spa, Dominica
The Boiling Lake is Dominica's most famous excursion. The Lake is inside the Morne Trois Piton National Park which is UNESCO Word Hertiage Site. Features on this challenging six hour rainforest hike include several classifications of tropical rainforest, the geologically active Valley of Desolation, hot mineral springs and scenic vistas. The highlight of this hike is the second largest boiling lake in the world!

Dominica Scuba Diving and hike to the boiling lake
Tom Backer with Pro Travel the Dominica travel specialist, for years always wanted to hike to the Boiling Lake. Marc Gottlieb needed a dive partner. They struck an agreement. Tom would get PADI scuba certified and Marc would join Tom for a hike to the Boiling Lake in Dominica. Great diving and the Hike was the hardest thing they both had ever done. We stayed at the Pagua Bay cottages and Dove with Dive Dominica. Tony from Nature Island Dive was Tom's instructor for his open water dives.

It’s important to perform some research before you go swimming, as not everybody of water is meant for swimming. Here is a list of the top places in the world you should never swim in.
✅Hanakapiai Beach
Everyone wants to go to Hawaii at least once. When planning a vacation Hawaii usually crosses a person’s mind. However, when planning your vacation just stay away from here. There aren’t many human safe beaches around here. The waves are so fierce; they can reach such incredible heights to the point where they can push you right into the rocks. It’s best to plan your vacation in another part of Hawaii.

✅Dangerous Toxicity
This is a very dangerous place to swim in. This is Lake Karachy, and experts say just a one hour swim in the lake can result in death by posion, due to the toxicity the lake has.
✅Lack of Space
This is Kipu Falls, and the amount of people it brings in the summer can be deadly. With a high volume of people, it can cause a lack of space- and many people have actually drowned here.
✅Lake Victoria
This is Lake Victoria, and it’s one of the largest lakes in all of Africa. The lake itself is a great place to swim, but be careful where you go, because there are some parts of the lake that has extreme weather systems. Unfortunately, the number of fatalities in Lake Victoria currently averages at 5,000 a year.
✅Shark Waters
This is a tiger shark, it was found off the coast of South Africa in a region called Gansbaai. You can find a wide range of shark species all roaming around there together, you can even find great whites there too. But I wouldn’t go looking if I were you.

Boiling Lake Trail Part 1 | Dominica 2010
This is the 1st video of a total of 6 showing our hike to the Boiling Lake in Dominica. The Boiling Lake is a flooded fumarole approx. 6.5 miles east of Roseau. It is filled with bubbling greyish-blue water that is usually enveloped in a cloud of vapor. The lake is approximately 200ft (63m) across. This video starts just after approximate50 minutes already on the trail right after passing the Breakfast River. From the river it's steeply uphill to about 2,500ft, then a steady climb along the ridge to the top (3,168ft) where's there's a clearing and a good point to stop and rest. It can provide spectacular 360° views... or it can be cold, misty and miserable, we got the misty (not miserable) option. We had rain almost during the whole 7 hours that day which made it slippery and muddy but overall a great temperature and cool down to hike in. On the hike to Boiling Lake in Dominica we came across the Valley of Desolation which is full of steam vents and boiling sulfuric water.
