Bocas del Toro Panama Travel Guide - Captivating & Unforgettable | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids

Welcome to Bocas Del Toro, a beautiful province in Panama!

Did you know that Bocas Del Toro, translated from Spanish means “Bull’s river mouths?” Such name might sound scary to you, but don’t worry, both place and its locals are warm and friendly. However, the capital of this province bears the same name – the city of Bocas del Toro or Bocas Town for short, and it is located on Isla Colón.

Bocas Del Toro might not have a vast territory, but it is proud to have two national parks on it -  La Amistad International Park and Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park. Another interesting fact is that the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute has a research station located close to Bocas Town, so you can be sure you’ll be surrounded by fantastic nature that’s worth exploring.

If you are looking for accommodation for your holiday here, we would recommend you to check out the wonderful Cosmic Crab Resort. It is located on Isla Carenero, and it is where we stayed at. For a reasonable price, you will have a chance to enjoy refreshing Caribbean breezes and sunbathe near coconut trees while eating delicious food. What more could you ask for?

Boquete Panama Travel Guide | Top Things To See And Do | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids

Welcome to Boquete, a small, charming mountain town in Panama!

It is hidden on 1,200 meters above the sea level, in green mountain highlands, only 40 miles from the border between Panama and Costa Rica, on the Caldera River. Pleasant climate, scenic landscape, and natural environment make Boquete a popular tourist and retirement destination. Some people say it resembles a Swiss Alpine village, only located in South America.

As Panamians love to party, you can expect to enjoy monthly fiestas and music events whenever you come here.

We stayed at Los Molinos and had a fantastic time. We went on the most amazing hike down a trail that lead to a beautiful waterfall and experienced first hand the powerful flow of the river below.

We also met the most amazing people and were even invited to spend the night at one of their homes/farms.

Enjoy the video and make sure to comment below where you're watching from!

Stay tuned because the next video will be all about why people retire in Boquete Panama.

This is BOCAS TOWN. Travel to Bocas Del Toro, Panama.

Before we arrived Bocas Del Toro, Panama, we had a difficult time finding much on YouTube about the town. Therefore we decided to do our own vlog about the town to give other people a better idea of what the town is like!

We started off our day in the centre of town at the main park (Parque Simón Bolívar) in the centre of town. This is also where you pick up buses to get to other parts of the Isla Colon. We then went and got fresh juice from a vendor in town.

After that we went and explored the boutiques in town. There are lots of great small shops and surf shops and is great for shopping.

We then went and got lunch from a great little take away shop called Amaranto. Having to wash it down with something we head to La Buguita to have a drink and take in the great view of the water taxis and waterfront area.

Lastly we take you back to our great Airbnb just outside of town in Saigon Bay. It’s called Koko Resort and is a group fully equipped overwater bungalows. That we’d highly recommend renting when in Bocas Del Toro!

Bocas del Toro, Panama:

Bocas del Toro is a province in Panama with an island chain off the Caribbean coast, and a section of mainland with a very biodiverse rainforest. Isla Colon, the most important island, is home to the capital called Bocas Town. Bocas Town is full of touristic places with many restaurants, shops and very active nightlife. Among the most popular beaches Boca del Dragon is perhaps the most well known. One of the main attractions in Isla Colon is the Starfish Beach, named for the number of sea starts you can find there. Bocas del Toro is the perfect place if you are planning on visiting the archipielago.

Bocas Town:

Boca Town is a touristic town on the southern tip of Colon Island. The corregimento of Bocas del Toro has a land area of 67.3 square kilometres (26.0 sq mi) and had a population of 7,366 as of 2010, giving it a population density of 109.4 inhabitants per square kilometre (283/sq mi). Its population as of 1990 was 5,274; its population as of 2000 was 4,020.

Relatively few Panamanians live on the island, opting for cheaper housing on the mainland. Mainland residents working on Colón Island travel by boat. Bocas del Toro is a popular tourist destination year-round. The town is small enough that most places are within walking distance. The streets are arranged in a grid. Avenidas (avenues) run east to west and calles (streets) run north to south. Bocas del Toro is still relatively unknown as a dive destination. However, it offers a great diversity of aquatic life around its islands.

Discover Panama City - The Gateway to Central America | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids

Welcome to Panama City, the capital and largest city of Panama!

If you google Panama, one of the first things that will appear in your search will probably be the famous Panama Canal. That is no surprise, as it is the biggest tourist attraction in this Central American country.

Why is this 80-kilometer long canal so amazing you ask? Well, it is a shipping shortcut that connects the Atlantic and Pacific ocean, significantly shortening all water travels.

Even though the idea of such canal dates back to 1513, the construction didn’t start until the late nineteenth century. The project was delegated to French engineers, but it had to be terminated due to skyrocketing costs, harsh conditions and heavy personnel losses caused by tropical diseases.

The project was restarted once Panama gained independence from Colombia and signed a ratified agreement with the USA. On 1 April 1914, the construction was officially completed, but the opening for commercial traffic was postponed for 15 August 1914 due to the outbreak of World War I.

Politically, the Panama Canal remained a part of the US territory of until 1977, when the process of transferring territorial control to Panama officially began. It was finally completed on 31 December 1999.

Today, this technological marvel operates around-the-clock, with some 40 vessels passing through each day. The system consists of three sets of locks, which raise ships from sea level to the same height of the Gatun Lake. The canal allows shippers of commercial goods to save both time and money, which results in lower consumer prices for everyone.

Enjoy the video and be sure to let us know where you're watching from!

The Ultimate Bocas del Toro Travel Guide: The best of Bocas in 3 Days | Episode 3

The top things to do in Bocas Del Toro in 3 days. I don't think we could of possibility fit anything more into our schedule.

We arrive after taking the bus from Panama City to Bocas del Toro so if you're curious on how to get to Bocas del Toro for a cheap price be sure to check out our last video - Panama City to Bocas del Toro by bus. How it works and what to expect.

In this video we arrived early in the morning and were lucky enough to check in early at our hotel Los Balcones Over the Sea on Carenero Island (which is a $1 water taxi away from Bocas del Toro). I would highly recommend staying here. The room were large, clean and they were in the process of remodeling the entire hotel while we were there.

We ended up visiting the public beach on Carenero Island which was actually pretty nice and very relaxing. If you're staying on Carenero Island its nice to know you don't have to go far to find a quiet place to lay on the beach.

Before it got dark we took a private water taxi to Red Frog Beach. At the time it cost us $8 per person one way and $5 to access the beach. I'll let the video speak for how it looked.

Finally we had dinner at Bibi's on the beach. It's by far the best place to in Bocas del Toro. If you find yourself on Carenero Island be sure to check this place out. The food was fresh, the views were spectacular and the drink special were good.

On our second day we took a group guided tour. There are tons of places offering this in Bocas town and they were all priced between $25 to $30 per person. It's a great way to see the surrounding islands for a good price.

We spent two hours dolphin watching, a hour snorkeling and at least two our on Zapatilla Island. Wow Zapatilla was absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I can show you just how beautiful the two Zapatilla Islands are..

We finished the tour with a visit boating around to sloth island and starfish island.

On our final day we mostly spent our time checking out the town of bocas. It's pretty small so we decide to visit on of the two main beaches on the main island of Bocas Del Toro. Although we heard Starfish beach was the more beautiful one we decided to check out Playa Bluffs. Again we weren't disappoint..
