Situated in the northwest of Slovenia is the beautiful town of Bled, and in the heart of it lies a sparkling blue lake that’s surrounded by green mountains and alpine forests. Little traditional wooden boats dock along the lake shores, and an island with a striking church sits right in the middle of the crystal clear waters. It’s without a doubt one of the greatest destinations in Slovenia for a little getaway to be one with nature, and we spent 48 hours experiencing Lake Bled for what it is. ????????

In this travel report we travel through Slovenia in 14 days by camper van. We start in the north, near the Triglav National Park, visit the Kranjska Gora region, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. Slovenia essentials: Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj, Vintgar Gorge
Slovenia is an incredible country that I believe deserves more international recognition. I visited Ljubljana, Lake Bohinj, Lake Bled and the Vintgar Gorge. Ljubljana might be my favourite capital city that I have been to so far in Europe. It is very peaceful and aesthetically pleasing. Though the prize for aesthetics over all, would have to go the gorgeous lakes of Slovenia. Bled and Bohinj are breathtaking lakes and the water is extremely clear, perfect for a swim in the summer. Vintgar Gorge is another site worth visiting if you are in Bled. The natural beauty is otherworldly, though at peak season the walk can be busy with tourists.

There are a lot of things to keep in mind when you visit Vintgar Gorge. First, you can combine it into a day trip from Ljubljana up to Lake Bled.

When we went, due to construction, it was easier to leave our car parked in Lake Bled, and rent bikes for the day. I'd recommend an e-bike to give you a boost going up the hills to Vintgar Gorge. It's only a few miles, and the bike path goes through pretty countryside.
I wish I'd known it was a one-way walking loop down the bridges in the gorge. Make sure you take all of your photos on the way in, because that will be your only chance.
The hike out was longer than expected. A lot of people were struggling, so bring a lot more water than you think you'll need.
Also, make sure to buy your tickets online before your visit so you don't have to wait in the long line to get in.

Vintgar Bled Full Tour Slovenia
Must-see place if visiting Slovenia! Full Tour in this Gorgeous gorge with a spectacular path which leads you 1.6 km along the river ends with beautiful Šum waterfall 23:12.
if you want to watch the video in a short time Youtube give you the option to increase the video speed - click on 3 dots top right and then choose “Playback Speed”
10€ for entrance per person and 5€ parking was absolutely fair for a place that is maintained this well. Being able to walk inside this canyon is absolutely amazing! Make sure to wear proper clothes especially shoes as the path is slippery, walking back to the parking place takes around 1h with the shortest path. There might be a long queue depending on the time of your arrival so I'd recommend to buy the entrance tickets online.
Vintgar is located Half hour drive from bled, you should drive all the way to the main parking lot right next to the gorge.

You can print or open the ticket on your phone and scan the QR code upon entry. When buying a ticket online, you must choose the time and day of the tour. Be sure to stick to your chosen date, as the number of tickets will be limited in time.
All other tickets are currently only available in the chalet at the entrance to the gorge.

Vintgar Gorge, carved by Radovna River, is located near Gorje, approximately 4 kilometres north-west from Bled.
The gorge has been carved out by the Radovna River, a crystal-clear river that looks emerald green or aqua depending upon the lighting conditions. There is a trail running across the gorge featuring wooden bridges at several points.
If you want some epic insta points this is a must visit for you. Don't worry if you are not an insta freak, you'll enjoy more because you won't waste any time taking pictures ;)

The Vintgar Gorge Slovene soteska Vintgar) or Bled Gorge (Blejski vintgar) is a 1.6-kilometer (0.99 mi) gorge in northwestern Slovenia in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled, four kilometers northwest of Bled. It is located on the edge of Triglav National Park. Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley.

Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bled, Bohinj, Savica Waterfall
Due to its natural beauty, the Vintgar Gorge is one of the most important attractions in Slovenia. The gorge impresses all visitors with its steep depths, vertical walls, the fast-flowing river in the depths, its vegetation and the highest Slovenian waterfall.
Lake Bled (Blejsko jezero) is one of the most romantic places in Slovenia, and perhaps in all of Europe. In any case, once you visit it, you can be sure that it will steal your heart for life. Bled Church (Blejski otok) stands on a small island in the middle of Lake Bled. The Virgin Mary Farewell Church is from the 17th century. It was built in the Baroque style in the 19th century. Its tower is 52 meters high and 98 steps lead to the top. It is best to rent a boat yourself. The fabulous islet can be reached by rowing for about 15 minutes. And if we climb the 98 steps, we can even ring the bell.
Slovenia's largest and perhaps most beautiful lake, the picturesque Lake Bohinj lies in the heart of the Julian Alps in a beautiful valley hollowed out by a former glacier. Walking around the lake is an experience in every season. According to the legend, when the Lord created the world and distributed the earth to the people, he forgot about a small group who were quietly waiting. In exchange for their patience and humility, God decided to give them the most beautiful part of the earth that he had reserved for himself. Since then, the area has been called Bohinj, because the word Boh means God in Slovenian. There is another legend associated with the name of Lake Bohinj. According to the myth, the Golden Horn (Zlatorog), the he-goat, lived on the shores of Lake Bohinj, whose blood produces a healing flower, and whose horn is the key to the valley's secret treasure chest. A statue of the goat was erected on the shore of the lake.
The Savica waterfall, commonly known but inaccurately known as Sava waterfall (Slovenian: Slap Savica), is the most famous waterfall in northwestern Slovenia, in the Julian Alps, in the area of the Triglav National Park. It is 78 meters high and is fed by a karst spring called Savica directly above the waterfall.
Villa Bled
Located in a peaceful part of Bled, on the shores of Lake Bled, Bled Villa is the largest and historically most important of the villas in Bled. It was once the Windisch-Grätz Palace, and in 1920 the palace became the summer residence of the Karadjordjevic royal family of Yugoslavia. The II. After World War II, the castle was demolished and Bled Villa was built in its place, which became the residence of Josip Broz - Tito. He held many official state visits here, including Nikita Khrushchev, Indira Gandhi and Nasser.
An important building is the Belvedere Pavilion, which stands on a 30-meter column designed by Jože Plečnik as the foundation of a new residence called Tito's Tea House. Today, Villa Bled is a hotel offering a unique experience, in the spirit of the elegance of the 1950s.
4K SLOVENIA: Vintgar Gorge walking tour near Lake Bled in Slovenia – Nature Ambiance
Vintgar Gorge, carved by Radovna River, is located near Gorje, approximately 4 kilometres north-west from Bled. The 1.6-kilometre long gorge is carved amidst the glorious vertical walls of Hom and Boršt hills, and it is highlighted by the Radovna River and its waterfalls, pools and rapids. A study trail runs across the gorge and the wooden bridges as well as Žumer galleries, which ends with the mighty 13 metres high Šum river waterfall, one of the three river waterfalls in Slovenia. Vintgar Gorge is the nearest point to entering Triglav National Park from Bled.

Exploring LAKE BLED and hiking VINTGAR GORGE in ONE DAY! (Is this the PRETTIEST PLACE IN SLOVENIA?)
On this episode of Mapping It, we spend the day exploring Lake Bled, Slovenia, and hiking Vintgar Gorge.
We begin with an early morning walk around Lake Bled to enjoy the sunrise. Later in the morning, we hike through Vintgar Gorge and it’s like walking through a magical, mystical, faerie land! After getting thoroughly sunburnt on the walk back to our car, we stop by the Park Hotel on Lake Bled for some delicious Bled Cream Cake, or Kremsnita.
In the afternoon, we take a pletna boat out to explore Bled Island and enjoy some refreshing gelato. By the time we return to Bled town, we haven’t had a decent meal all day and we are showing definite signs of hanger, so we stop for dinner at Ostarija Peglez’n and are wow’d by the food! We try squid stuffed with cheese and ham, and a mixed grilled meat platter, both of which we can highly recommend!
To wrap up our day, we catch the last rays of sunset at Bled Castle with fantastic views overlooking the lake.

Vlog 31- Slovenia: Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bohinj & Ljubljana
We had an amazing time on Lake Bled and were so sad to leave. There are so many activities and wonderful things to do with the kids around the lake that you could truly spend an entire vacation there. Just keep in mind that parking is slim to none and very expensive.
In this video, we hiked Vintgar Gorge, which was stunning, but the walk back along the trail was pretty strenuous. With the kids on our backs, we were exhausted by the time we got back to the car.
Lake Bohinj was a fail. We drove around for what felt like forever and couldn't find anywhere to park to head over for a swim, so decided to move on to Ljubljana.
We arrived in Ljubljana, where we only had a few evening hours that day to explore, but had a great time. Tivoli Park was beautiful and Isla had the best time at one of the best playgrounds we have seen. After the park, we headed into the center to try some Arabic/Lebanese food for the first time before turning in for the night. Tomorrow will be our only full day in Ljubljana and we are looking forward to exploring more.
