I’ve always loved curry and I’ve always loved fish heads, so fish head curry would naturally be one of my favorite foods to eat - there’s nothing not to like about digging out little bits of fish from all the crevices, while sucking up all the curry sauces.

We checking out three different fish head restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, each serving a totally different style of fish head.

Annuar's Fish Head Curry:
One of the most legendary Malaysian street food stalls in Kuala Lumpur is Annuar's Fish Head Curry, also known as the Bangsar fish head corner. Mr. Annuar is an amazing hard working man who has been selling his south Indian Muslim style fish head curry for a long time and has a loyal following. He’s also known for his affordable prices and his fried chicken. The staff were all incredible nice, and their fish head was amazing. I also especially loved the fried chicken with the fish head curry sauce on top. Mr. Annuar would not charge us for our meal, thank you!

Tugu View Cafe:
Next we went to Tugu View Cafe, an amazing local Malay food restaurant on top of a hill in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, although it felt like you were in the middle of a mountain park. They serve all sorts of Malaysian food, but their most famous dish is their Malay style fish head curry. We met the chef of the curry, and I just asked him to choose us the largest size which happened to be a 120 RM fish head! Most of the others were 45 - 65 RM! This was probably the best fish head curry for me of this entire Malaysian food fish head curry tour. The complexity of flavor and the ingredients blew me away.
Total price - 144 RM ($35)

Restoran Mun Kee Steam Fish Head:
Finally to end this fish head curry tour, we went to a Chinese restaurant. So this wasn’t actually a fish head curry, but a steamed Chinese style fish head. They gave us not only the head, but really the entire body minus the tail. It was delicious, perfectly steamed with wonderfully fragrant ginger, and it was a perfect fish to end the meal with.
Total price - 98 RM ($23.80)

This was an amazing fish head curry Malaysian food tour in Kuala Lumpur!

One thing that we both fell in love with about Malaysian cuisine, is that you could really spend a lifetime eating here tasting the local varieties of Chinese food, Indian Food, and Malay Food. That being said, in 4 days, we barely scratched the surface of Malaysian food, there is so much more!

We visited a few famous Chinese cuisine places, a few famous Malay cuisine places, and of course some amazing Indian cuisine as well.

Below are the addresses for the Malaysian cuisine that we sampled in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:

Street Food in Malaysia - ULTIMATE MALAYSIAN FOOD in Kuala Lumpur!

Thanks to Oh My Media:
Subscribe for 2 new videos every week
T-shirts and caps:

Huge thank you to Fadhlur for reaching out and taking us on a Malaysian street food tour of Kuala Lumpur. It was an amazing day, and I have so much love to Malaysia as it was one of the first countries where I started making street food videos - as you’ll see in the video!

Ok, here are all the street food stalls and restaurants we ate at on this tour:

Mansion Tea Stall
The thing to order here is the roti canai special, roti that chopped up, then doused in a variety of curry sauces, sambal, and a few soft boiled eggs. It’s a perfect way to begin your day in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 2.80 RM ($0.68) per plate

Nasi Lemak Tanglin
Nasi lemak is often considered the national food of Malaysia, and there are plenty of places to eat it throughout Kuala Lumpur. Having been around since 1948, Nasi Lemak Tanglin is a place I had wanted to go for a while. It was overall very good, with a nice laid back atmosphere and surrounded by nature. Nasi lemak - about 8 RM ($1.94) per plate

Ikan Bakar Seri Melaka (Jalan Bellamy)
One of my favorite places to eat ikan bakar, grilled fish, is on Jalan Bellamy. Back in 2012, I had to hike over a highway and climb a few fences to get there as I was only on foot. In this video, I’m a bit older, and we had a car! The ikan bakar was just as good as I remember it. Total price - 68 RM ($16.51) for everything

Sri Ganapathi Mess
One of the best things about Malaysian food is its incredible diversity, including Malay, Chinese, and Indian food. Banana leaf south Indian food is very popular and I was recommended to try Sri Ganapathi Mess, a restaurant tucked away into a home. An amazing south Indian food experience in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 59 RM ($14.32) for 4 people

Kedai Kopi Lai Foong
Finally, another dish that many had recommended me was the unique clam noodles in Kuala Lumpur Chinatown at the legendary Kedai Kopi Lai Foong. It was delicious, and a perfect way to end an amazing Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur. Price - 10 RM ($2.43) per bowl

Again, thank you to Oh My Media Malaysia for taking us around:

Indian Malay Food ???? HUGE FISH HEAD CURRY Cooked By The KING OF SPICE!

???? Ultimate Fried Chicken Tour in Hat Yai:
???? Subscribe for NEW VIDEOS:

PATTANI, THAILAND - First of all a huge thank you Bang Dim and his amazing family for inviting us to their home for a once in a lifetime home cooked meal. It was outstanding, a meal I’ll never forget. #IndianFood #MalayFood #Pattani #ปัตตานี

First off, back story:

A few days before, I was with Muhammad from Papa Tagu ( and we stopped by the shop where he buys spices for his Thai Arabian food. We stopped in to say hi partly because the owner of the spice shop, Bang Dim, watches our video - and he’s the King of Spice in Pattani (his spice shop is called Muhammad and Sons: We had a great time, and enjoyed some amazing masala tea. He also gave me the ring! Anyway, Bang Dim is half from Kerala, South India, and half local Pattani Malay. He was born in Pattani (ปัตตานี). At that meeting, he invited us over to his house to make Indian style, but Malay at the same time fish head curry.

A few days later, we headed over to the house. Bang Dim, along with his wife and entire family put on an ultimate display of hospitality and welcome, cooking an unbelievable huge fish head curry. The fish head curry was a combination of South Indian and Malay, using dry spices, curry leaves, and even green sour mango in the curry. It was outstanding, sensational beyond belief. But not only was there fish curry, but there was also an entire Malay and Indian food feast - mainly seafood.

Thank you again to Bang Dim and your entire family for this unforgettable Indian Malay meal in Pattani.

Thank you for watching and hope you’re having a fantastic day!

Golden FISH HEAD CURRY!! Best MALAYSIAN CHINESE FOOD in Phuket Island!

???? Best Seafood in Thailand:
???? NEW T-shirts and caps available now:
???? The Charm Dining Gallery:

PHUKET, THAILAND (ภูเก็ต) - Welcome to Phuket, Thailand, an island that’s as much about beaches and holidays as it is culture and history. There’s a rich melting pot in Phuket with local Malays, Thai, Chinese, and many others. One of the unique cultures you’ll find is Peranakan, which typically refers to straits (Malacca Straits) born Chinese. Originally from China, Peranakans adapted to the local Malay culture, and their food is a reflection of Malay and Chinese. Today we’re going to one of the few Peranakan food restaurants in Phuket, The Charm Dining Gallery (

From the moment you enter the restaurant, you’ll know it’s a special place. The restaurant is within an old upscale shophouse, and while it has been fixed up and renovated to become a restaurant, much of the building, and antiques are original from a hundred years or so ago. The owner is of Peranakan heritage, and he also had deep roots with family in Phuket, and Penang, Malaysia. The Charm Dining Gallery is a reflection of the owners heritage and food culture. Most of the recipes are all his family recipes, from his immediate family and his relatives. The Malay Chinese fish curry for instance is his Aunt’s recipe from Penang.

Along with a full menu of Peranakan food, which is all good, one of the things they are famous for and you don’t want to miss is their Peranakan fish curry. We got a huge fish head grouper head, which was first steamed and then made into an impressive fish head curry. The combination of fresh spices and dry spices, plus herbs and torch ginger flower is what really made it stand out.

Other dishes you don’t want to miss are stink beans with crab, shrimp fried with tamarind sauce, Hokkien style fried jicama, and another spectacular family dish of seared fish in a sesame oil and black pepper soup.

The food was excellent, good quality, and in addition to the delicious Peranakan food, the setting and atmosphere makes it even more impressive. Highly recommended for a wonderful meal when you’re in Phuket and a learning culinary experience.

Our total bill for everything came to 3,000 THB

D’Tugu View Fish Head Curry Experience - MALAYSIAN FOOD in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

Tugu View Cafe:

After getting a good sweat in Taman Tugu, we went to Tugu View Cafe, an amazing local Malay food restaurant on top of a hill in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, and it is in the middle of a mountain park.

They serve all sorts of Malaysian food, but their most famous dish is their Malay style fish head curry.

This was probably the best fish head curry for me as this would be my first time finishing the fish head all by myself. The complexity of flavor and the ingredients blew me away.

Total price - RM67

Malaysian Street Food Tour in Kuala Lumpur

Glad you love Malaysian street food too! Get my free street food guide here:

Malaysian street food is amazingly delicious and Kuala Lumpur is full of food everywhere you look!

The first dish in the video is known as Nasi Campur, a truly delightful Malaysian street food that consists of a giant plate of rice accompanied by an assortment of various side dishes. I chose fish curry, chili tofu and a bunch of other delicious vegetables and garnished.

Next I stopped at a famous place near Little India in Kuala Lumpur to eat an Ikan Bakar grilled fish. It was grilled in some kind of chili sauce and served with a limey chili sauce that was absolutely spectacular.

When it began to rain, I decided to drink a cup of milk tea teh tarik, one of the most famous beverages in Malaysia.

The next meal was at Hameed's a restaurant specializing in Indian style Malaysian street food known as Nasi Kandar. Along with a plate of rice covered in curries, I aslo ordered a plate of biryani, and a side of tandoori chicken and plan naan.

I couldn't leave Kuala Lumpur without eating the absolute mos comforting Malaysian street food: Nasi Lemak. After searching around, I finally found it at an outdoors restaurant. It wasn't the best nasi lemak I've ever had, but it sure wasn't bad!

Hope you enjoyed this Malaysian street food tour in Kuala Lumpur!

It's really tasty and cheap as well and place that serve the fish head is well loved by the locals and also the late Anthony Bourdain ate this place and also YouTube famous street food vloggers Mark Wiens has tried this very same dish in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
