Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is a purpose-built film set village, now converted into a small attraction fun park, consisting of a collection of rustic and ramshackle wooden buildings. It is located at Anchor Bay, 3 kilometres from the village core of Mellieħa, Malta.
It was built as a film set for the production of the 1980 live-action musical feature film Popeye, produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions starring Robin Williams.

Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village was built as the film set of the 1980 Musical Production 'Popeye' produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions. It is located in Anchor Bay, just three kilometres from the village of Mellieha and was constructed in 1979.
The easiest and most cost-effective way to reach Popeye Village is by using the various bus lines in Malta. Catch Bus 42 from Valletta, Bus 221 from St. Paul's Bay, Bus 222 from Sliema or St. Julian's, and Bus X1 from the airport.
It is located at Prajjet Bay/Anchor Bay, 3 km (2 mi) from the village core of Mellieħa, Malta. It was built as a film set for the production of the 1980 live-action musical feature film Popeye, produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall.

Popeye Village, also known as Sweethaven Village, is a group of rustic and ramshackle wooden buildings located at Anchor Bay in the north-west corner of the Mediterranean island of Malta, two miles from the village of Mellieħa.
It was built as a film set for the production of the 1980 live-action musical feature film Popeye, produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions and starring Robin Williams. Today it is accesible to the public as an open-air museum and family entertainment complex.
Attractions
Popeye Village is open to the public seven days a week and, apart from the film set itself, has a number of family attractions for the visitor to experience. There are shows, rides and museums, as well as play houses where children can climb and explore the village. Children may also get to meet the movie's main characters, such as Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto and Wimpy.
Set dressings and props
Some of the houses in Popeye Village have been equipped with various items related to the filming, including props used in the film's production.
Boat trips
Each hour on days when the weather permits, visitors can enjoy a twenty minute boat trip around Anchor Bay where one can photograph the scenery and view Popeye Village from the sea.
Cinema
Situated in the centre of Popeye Village's Lower Complex, visitors can watch a 20-minute history and information audio-visual show, which includes clips from the actual film and the set's construction. The cinema can accommodate approximately 40 people and has a show every hour.

Malta, officially known as the Republic of Malta, is a Southern European island country consisting of an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. It lies 80 km south of Italy, 284 km east of Tunisia, and 333 km north of Libya. Malta is one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries, at over 316 km2 with a population of about 475,000. Its capital is Valletta, which is the smallest national capital in the European Union by area at 0.8 km.2 Its largest town is Birkirkara, while its chief economic centre is Sliema. The official languages are Maltese and English, with Maltese also recognised as the national language. Maltese is the only Semitic language to be officially recognised in the European Union. Italian is also spoken by most of the population.
Malta has been inhabited since approximately 5900 BC. Its location in the centre of the Mediterranean has historically given it great strategic importance as a naval base, with a succession of powers having contested and ruled the islands, including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Sicilians, Spanish, Knights of St. John, French, and British. Most of these foreign influences have left some sort of mark on the country's ancient culture.
Malta became a British colony in 1815, serving as a critical way station for ships and the headquarters for the British Mediterranean Fleet. It played an important role in the Allied war effort during the Second World War, and was subsequently awarded the George Cross for its bravery in the face of an Axis siege, and the George Cross appears on Malta's national flag. The British Parliament passed the Malta Independence Act in 1964, giving Malta independence from the United Kingdom as the State of Malta, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state and queen. The country became a republic in 1974. It has been a member state of the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations since independence, and joined the European Union in 2004; it became part of the eurozone monetary union in 2008.
Malta has a long Christian legacy and its Archdiocese is claimed to be an apostolic see because Paul the Apostle was shipwrecked on Melita, according to Acts of the Apostles, which is now widely taken to be Malta. Catholicism is the official religion in Malta. Article 40 of the Constitution states that all persons in Malta shall have full freedom of conscience and enjoy the free exercise of their respective mode of religious worship.
Malta is a popular tourist destination with its warm climate, numerous recreational areas, and architectural and historical monuments, including three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni, Valletta, and seven megalithic temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.

Le pays forme un archipel et comprend quatre îles : l'île de Malte (la principale île), l'île de Gozo, l'île de Comino et la petite île inhabitée de Filfla. L'île principale, Malte, présente une superficie de 246 km². La superficie totale de ce petit pays est de 316 km², l'un des plus petits du monde. La capitale maltaise est La Valette qui porte le nom de son fondateur, le Français Jean de Valette (1494-1568), grand maître de l'ordre de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem.

Malta is a Southern European island country consisting of an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.It lies 80 km (50 mi) south of Italy, 284 km (176 mi) east of Tunisia, and 333 km (207 mi) north of Libya. Malta is one of the world's smalles and most densely populated countries, at over 316 km2 (122 sq mi) with a population of about 475,000. Its capital is Valletta, which is the smallest national capital in the European Union by area at 0.8 km.2 Its largest town is Birkirkara, while its chief economic center is Sliema. The official languages are Maltese and English, with Maltese officially recognized as the national language and the only Semitic language in the European Union.
And in our case, Malta is a pure heaven on earth, both for younger and elder people. There is everything you need for a good holiday, beaches, bars, parties and so many amazing places to visit like Gozo, Blue Lagoon, The Village of Popeye, Pacheville etc. where you can go by a cruise, a speedboat or walk to some of them.
The climate in summer is perfect, as it is not extremely hot but a perfect temperature to enjoy both the days and the nights.
Pricing is fairly affordable to anyone and what we found interesting is that is cheaper to get drunk than to get full of food. :D :D :D
Anyways, Malta is worth visiting for sure!

Victoria is the capital city of Gozo, the sister island of Malta.
You will see the City, the old Citadel and several fascinating views from the Bastions of the Citadel. We will also visit the Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and the Golden Temple, the Basilica of St George.
