Which beach is your favorite? Drop us a comment! The Top beaches of Costa Rica is a hard list to narrow down. Many just visit Tamarindo, Jaco, or Santa Teresa. We guess these are fine, but honestly, we didn't see much to drool over in any of them. So here are some slightly lesser traveled, but even more beautiful places to throw a beach mat. Costa Rica's Pacific Coast is famed for beaches of every flavor, color, and personality. Some are great for a day stop like Uvita or Manuel Antonio. These are in National Parks, and though beautiful, there is limited accommodations. Others are a great place to park it for a while! Santa Teresa and Tamarindo are famed for beginner surfers and the party crowd. Flamingo Bay is filled with expats and beautiful condos and restaurants, as well as great organized tours. Brasilito is a true locals beach and village with local food and simple accommodations. While its neighbor Conchal Beach, boasts a great resort
hotel, water sports, and some of the whitest sand on the Pacific. Uvita is the cutest tiny town with the most unique shoreline. Montezuma is a blast for families, party goers, and true beach lovers with its laid back vibe and interesting shoreline. Drake's Bay is for the adventurous and people who like a little off the beaten path fun. You really can't go wrong with the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. It is one of those rare places in the world, where the jungle meets the sea in so many interesting ways. Wildlife is abundant both in and out of the water. TRANSCRIPT:

Hey guys, welcome to another Mytanfeet video. Today we are going to talk about five popular beaches you can visit from Tamarindo.

The first beach you have to visit from Tamarindo is Conchal. To get to Conchal beach, you have to first go to the small town of Brasilito, about a 30 minute drive from Tamarindo.

After we parked our car in Brasilito, we have to walk across this beach to get to Conchal. This beach is called Playa Brasilito and it's because they closed the accesss so cars cannot drive across the beach and it's about a 15 minute walk to get to Conchal.

Before you get to Conchal beach, here's a little tip for those of you who like a good view. As soon as you get to the other end of Brasilito, there is a small hill to your right which you can walk up. Follow the trail and you'll get an amazing view of Conchal beach from the top.

One of the unique characteristics of Conchal beach is that the shore is full of beautiful white shells instead of sand.

The second beach we recommend to visit from Tamarindo is Flamingo beach. Flamingo is very easy to get to and it's about a 30 minute drive from Tamarindo. Flamingo beach is another great beach to come with family or friends, it has very beautiful white fine sand and it has great waves for swimming relaxing, and there's some bars and restaurants on the beach so it's a great spot to come for sunset happy hour.

And for another nice viewpoint, if you drive all the way to the south end of Flamingo beach and go up the hill, you can get a nice view of Brasilito and Conchal from that side.

The third beach to visit from Tamarindo is Playa Grande. It's right across the estuary of Tamarindo and the best way to get there is by car, about a 30 minute drive. Playa Grande is another beach you have to visit when in Tamarindo, it's another great surfing beach with waves nearely all year round. It's also great for long walks on the beach and is part of the Marino Las Baulas National Park.

The fourth beach to visit from Tamarindo is Playa Avellanas. It's about a 30 minute drive from Tamarindo on a mix of paved and unpaved roads. Just a note that this video was made in February, the middle of Costa Rica's dry season so the roads were very dusty and dry.

Playa Avellanas is actually one of our personal favorite beaches near Tamarindo. It has great surfing waves, beautiful sunsets, a really cool bridge that you can come check out that goes across the mangrove and some really good beach front restaurants to enjoy.

And last but not least is Playa Langosta which is only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from Tamarindo. Playa Langosta is the closest beach to Tamarindo, it's right next to it and it's a great spot to come to do long beach walks and watch the sunset, and it's a great place to come to get away from the crowds of Tamarindo.

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and get to visit one of the places that we talked about. If you want more information on any of the beaches all the links are in the description below and if you want more Costa Rica content, please subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching.

TOP 10 Best Beaches in Costa Rica - Best Surf Beaches

Costa Rica is home to a plethora of stunning beaches. Our Travel Experts discuss their favorite playas as well as lodging suggestions for your Costa Rica beach visit.
The phrase pristine often overused in the tourism industry to describe beaches, yet it is appropriate in Costa Rica, since 25% of the land is biologically protected and maintained. The magnificent Pacific Coast, which is lined with picturesque sandy stretches and crystal blue bays, attracts the majority of sun-seekers.

Costa Rica is home to jungles, volcanoes, oceans, and, of course, surf beaches. Costa Rica's beaches are diverse and provide guests with a variety of experiences. People flock here to surf, swim, sunbathe, and relax at the laid-back beach villages that dot the beaches.

The nature of the beaches changes as you travel to different sections of the country. Warm water is one thing they all have in common. Many of the greatest beaches may be found on the Nicoya Peninsula in the north. It is less green in the dry season than locations to the south, yet the sun is usually always shining. As you travel south, the landscape becomes more lush and tropical. It's humid, hot, and moist on the Caribbean side.

For the most part, the beaches are easily accessible. Simply park your car under a palm tree, collect your belongings, and seek out a sand space in the sun or shade.

With this list of the top surfing beaches in Costa Rica, you can choose the ideal spot for your holiday.

Reserva Conchal
The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa
Garra De Leon Golf Course
W Costa Rica - Reserva Conchal

Info about the area:
We are ready to explore Conchal, Brasilito, Flamingo and Portrero beaches: all very short jaunts in the car but all uniquely different.

It’s easy to visit all of these places in one day. We’ll be exploring each in depth over the next few episodes so that you can choose the right one for you as a base or make it a road trip. From wild camping and campsites to Hostals, Hotels, and resorts, all budgets will get to enjoy the same five star beaches!

This time we’re in Brasilito, Costa Rica and we will be walking over to Conchal beach as well! These two beaches are the MOST different but are actually right next to each other.

Reserva Conchal featues the all-inclusive Westin Golf Resort and Spa ranges between $400 and $500/night and the luxurious W Hotel (Prices range dramatically from 412-815 per night with Christmas and new years reaching $1,300 per night) Suites range from garden view rooms to king villas with infinity edge plunge pools. There are also many condominiums on the hillside some of which are available for vacation rentals. The closest town for groceries and shops is Brasilito.

If you are dreaming of a tropical beach getaway we highly recommend this specific section of coastline in Costa Rica.
Book a flight into the Liberia International Airport, (LIR) and you’ll have your toes in the sand in no time. We recommend renting a car at one of the many agencies for more travel flexibility however there are buses and shuttles that serve the entire area as well.

Once you’re here pick one of these places as a base and then beach hop. The short distances between each spectacular spot makes this an exciting beach holiday and each town is quite different from the next as well.

Activities include surfing, sup and kayak, snorkeling and scuba diving, sailing excursions, whale and dolphin watching, and 18 holes of golf at Garra de Leon’ Golf Course, one of the best golf courses in Central America. There are also ATV tours and wave runners for a kick of adrenaline!

PLAYA BRASILITO
“Playa” is beach in Spanish
As you cross the short bridge and drive into Brasilito’s main square it could be easy to pass right through and miss the real hidden gem here. The beach front soccer field has been repurposed as parking for the nearby Conchal beach which is no longer accessible by car. Parking guards charge anywhere from c3,000 to 5,000 colones. There are quaint eateries around the square and a couple of markets for stocking up on water, soda, beer and snacks and most people see just this little slice of Brasilito.

Passing the main square on your left continue straight. Instead of following the cars where the paved road veers right keep going straight onto the dusty road ahead. Now you’re in for a treat.

You’ll notice several landscaped seaside lots to choose from. We picked this little paradise complete with palm frond palapa and drift wood seating.

If you continue on the road narrows and eventually leads to a little island at the end of the path.

PLAYA CONCHAL
Most people will reach Playa Conchal by foot unless you’re staying at the resort or in the residences. The closest parking is in the main square but if you drive along a little further you can park for free.

Jet-skis: To give you an idea on pricing they were offering $160 for a 2 hours tour or $100 to rent for 1 hour, $60 for 30 minutes zipping around on your own.

Tip: We noticed that most people were filtering back towards their cars after noon.
