★ Cab ride ????????St. Moritz - ????????Tirano (Bernina pass), Switzerland to Italy [10.2019]

In this video, we look at one of Switzerland's most beautiful and unique railways, the Unesco heritage listed Berninabahn.
The Bernina railway sets a few records, including being the highest railway alpine crossing in Europe (2253m), the highest adhesion railway of the continent, the open air railway with the greatest height difference (1824m) and furthermore one of the steepest adhesion railways (conventional railway without cogs) worldwide, with gradients of up to 7%.

A unique aspect of Switzerland's narrow gauge mountain railways is the mixing of passenger and freight wagons in a single train, with wagons often added or removed at intermediate stops with shunting locomotives. On the Bernina line, the cargo mostly consists of wood on stake cars and derivatives of oil in tank cars.

At this point, I would like to thank Paolo for making this video possible and providing a great deal of information included in the video. His channel:
Any questions concerning the trip and the line will gladly be answered by him.

For those who would like to make the return trip (filmed on the same day), here it is:

★ 4K ????????Tirano - ????????St. Moritz summer cab ride, Italy to Switzerland [06.2020]

In this video, we look at one of Switzerland's most beautiful and unique railways, the Unesco heritage listed Berninabahn - for the first time on Youtube in 4K in this direction. Our last trip in this direction was in Autumn and with the aim to show this route in every season, we now bring you Summer.

★ ????????Tirano - ????????St. Moritz cab ride with rear view, Italy to Switzerland [10.2019]

In this video, we look at one of Switzerland's most beautiful and unique railways, the Unesco heritage listed Berninabahn - this time in the opposite direction.
The next video on this line will be with deep snow in 4K, so stay tuned.

Our train today has 3 empty stake cars to the rear, which you will see in the rear view camera along the way.

Due to the late afternoon, the sun is mostly behind the mountains, leaving us without direct sunlight. However, this trip will be recorded again in different conditions and in 4K60p in the future.

Please note the position of the microphone to avoid conversations being recorded - it is on the opposite cab of our multiple unit. You will be hearing some eerie and for some people, funny creaking sounds along the way - this comes from the couplings and the buffer when push or pull forces are applied during the trip. The sounds are completely normal and exist everywhere where UIC couplings are in place. Grease and oil are not to be applied on the hook and coupling.

At this point, I would like to thank Paolo for making this video possible and providing a great deal of information included in the video. His channel:
Any questions concerning the trip and the line will gladly be answered by him.

★ 4K Cab ride ????????St. Moritz - ????????Tirano, fresh snow, strong winds & snowdrifts [03.2020]

Welcome to the second cab ride along the world famous, heritage listed Berninanahn (Bernina railway), this time in 4K 60 frames per second quality - and during winter. If you missed the first run along this track, it is worth checking out (recorded Autumn 2019).
A special thank you to Paolo for recording this trip. His channel:

The Bernina railway sets a few records, including being the highest railway alpine crossing in Europe (2253m), the highest adhesion railway of the continent, the open air railway with the greatest height difference (1824m) and furthermore one of the steepest adhesion railways (conventional railway without cogs) worldwide, with gradients of up to 7%.

The gradients are included in the upper right corner in the same format as they appear to the driver. The arrow indicates whether the gradient is up or down, the larger number is the promille value (1/10 of 1%) and the smaller number indicates the distance of the gradient in meters. You will also see station names with their altitude, tunnel and bridge names with their length and year of construction - as well as other interesting information along the way to improve your viewing experience.

Today we
take a wagon with us from Pontresina to Poschiavo with good for a Coop supermarket.

Thanks for watching and have a great day!

★ 4K ???????? Samedan - St. Moritz - Chur, Glacier express cab ride in a Ge 4/4 I from 1953 [09.2020]

This will be our first trip in a Ge 4/4 I - a Rhaetian railway locomotive built between 1947 - 1953. It's a treat for the ears hearing the antique mechanics diligently doing their work. During acceleration you'll hear the step switch: a selector that cycles between 28 different voltages which feed the 4 traction motors. When we change directions during shunting, or come to a stop, you may also hear the air powered reversing switch or separators.

We start with a tour of a sister locomotive at the depot in Samedan. Of the 10 of these engines that were built, 4 remain in existence. The one we look at was actually taken out of service in 2012 and lent to the Swiss museum of transport for a period of 5 years, however due to locomotive shortages, it reentered service in 2016. With the current delivery of the new capricorn trainsets from Stadler, locomotives are being freed up from passenger services, which has already led to a renewed decommissioning of locomotives, such as the Ge 6/6 IIs. It's just a matter of time before these are gone too, apart from any locomotives that will be kept historically.

The line we're on is nothing new to this channel, the meter gauge Albula line of the RhB, which is world heritage listed along with the Bernina railway. This is however the first time we're doing the trip from St Moritz (past videos commenced in Samedan). We are however picking up the locomotive from Samedan, taking it solo to St Moritz, where it is coupled with our train, the Glacier express, which will continue from our final station in Chur, all the way to Brig and Zermatt.

In Chur, we park the locomotive in the Depot and call it a day.

Bernina Express: Tirano, Italy - St. Moritz, Switzerland

This is a great train ride with spectacular view all the way. When we got to the top of summit, just wild what we saw. Snow peaked mountains, ice covered summit lakes, skiers skying past the train. Really glad the weather was on our side. Sometimes, It could be a whole trip in the clouds with nothing to look at.

Mit der Bernina Bahn von St. Moritz nach Tirano 2008

★ 4K ???????? Landquart - Vereina - St. Moritz snow cab ride, Switzerland [01.2021] Führerstandsmitfahrt

We've looked at this line twice before on this channel, but not with this much snow!

Enjoy the trip as we slowly gain altitude from Landquart at 523m above sea level to St. Moritz at 1775m above sea level, passing through the longest meter gauge railway tunnel in the world (Vereina) and through many beautiful Swiss mountain villages.

For those of you who are more train saavy, you'll notice that a lot of the older RhB rolling stock is still in service. Since this has been shot, all of the Ge 6/6 II, Ge 4/4 I & ABe 4/4 IIIs have been retired, and most trains have become push pull, no longer requiring the locomotive to change sides at the end station.

Riviera Travel - Lake Como, St Moritz & the Bernina Express

On this wonderfully varied tour we explore Lake Como, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, plus some stunning icons of northern Italy and Switzerland. Described by Wordsworth as ‘a treasure the earth keeps to itself’, visitors have been attracted to the lake for centuries in search of relaxation, culture and inspiration. Both Verdi and Rossini worked in lakeside villas here, together with countless poets. Its atmosphere is one of an eerie, near-silence, broken only by the rhythmic lapping of gentle waves on the lake shore whilst above, birds of prey soar on the numerous thermals generated by the gentle mountain breezes.

Wody opadowe oraz z topniejącego śniegu i lodu spływają na północ przez Dunaj do Morza Czarnego oraz na południe rzeką Pad do Adriatyku. Best Scenic Train in Switzerland Tirano to St. Moritz Summer Cab Ride

One of the best scenic train rides in Switzerland is the Bernina Express. It starts from Tirano, Italy and ends in Chur, Switzerland. It is also listed under UNESCO’s world heritage sites.

It can be reserved online or you can purchase ticket at the Ticket Center at the train station. If you want to ride the panoramic trains though, you have to reserve the tickets online and fees varies between summer and winter season.

Last summer we decided to try the Bernina Express from Tirano to St. Moritz to experience the scenic route. I made the reservation online and paid the ticket in advance then showed my ticket at the station. Someone will also be checking tickets once you enter the train and started the journey. It was a very memorable experience and my eyes and heart are full of joy as I always do everytime I travel and see new places.
There are advantages of taking the panoramic train like having enough space and wide windows for nice viewing opportunity however when you try to take pictures, there will be reflection as opposed to riding the regular trains wherein you can even open the windows during summertime and there’s even a separate open air train car attached at the very end section of the train.

I hope you enjoy this video and don’t forget to like and subscribe! Thank you..
