From the ancient legends carved into the landscapes to modern marvels that pulse through the vibrant cities, this video is your gateway to understanding the true essence of this enchanting country.

Ever wondered why Ireland is affectionately known as the Emerald Isle? Fact 83 reveals the secret behind this nickname, tied to the nation's lush greenery and rolling hills, a painter's palette of greens made possible by the frequent kisses of rain from the Irish skies.

But that's just the beginning. Did you know that the Irish invented Halloween, or that the legendary Titanic set sail from Belfast's docks? With each fact, from 83 down to 1, your curiosity will be ignited, challenging what you thought you knew about Ireland. Discover sports born from the heart of Irish culture, marvel at the Cliffs of Moher stretching towards the horizon, and unravel the history behind the musical symbol of resistance, the Irish harp.

Did you expect to learn that St. Patrick wasn't Irish, or that Ireland has its very own sports channel dedicated to Gaelic games? And how about the oldest pub in Europe, Sean’s Bar, with doors open since 900 AD, inviting you to step into a living piece of history?

With each fact, from the natural wonder of the Giant’s Causeway to the spirited competition of the Eurovision Song Contest, from the ancient wisdom of the Book of Kells to the groundbreaking legalization of same-sex marriage, you'll find your heart racing to the rhythm of Ireland's endless surprises.

What's more, we take you beyond the known, exploring the youngest population's vibrant spirit in Europe, the traditional cuisines that go far beyond potatoes, and the haunting tales of Leap Castle. And just when you think you've grasped Ireland's essence, we introduce the Burren, a karst landscape that contradicts the green stereotype with its lunar-like terrain and biodiversity hotspot.

As we countdown to Fact 1, prepare to be amazed, inspired, and perhaps a little bit in love with Ireland. So, what secrets does the Burren hold? How has Ireland shaped the world beyond its shores, and what stories lie hidden within its ancient stones and lively streets?

// MORE ABOUT ME!//
Hi I'm Ayngelina and my full time job is my site BaconisMagic.ca it's all about the best food around the world and how to make it at home.

In 2010 I left a job in advertising, 5 year relationship and sold all my possessions to travel the world. In the last ten years I've had some crazy experiences and even owned a restaurant in Toronto at one time. And prior to 2020 I had been based in Cuba.

When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.

I'm not married. I have no kids. But I do have a lot of local friends who help me discover the best local tips.

The travelers community - Anthropology of the Dutch

Piet van Assendorp (46) is chairman of the Association for the Preservation of Caravan in the Netherlands and can be seen in the Anthropology of the Dutch apisode about the Travelers. Piet has been a fan of the program for years and he helped the pigeonhole man to gain access to different people and places in the travelers community.

De Hokjesman about this episode

'Almost all TV programs about the caravan culture come with the same clichés: shoes off in the car and folk music. We do not talk about that. We have the expensive duty to - with all the nuance - also appoint the hot issues. After all, it is something that people are prepared to fight for: the freedom to do the things you want to do. And yes, that does not always happen within the lines of the law. Last season we knocked in vain at the travelers' doors: we had put our most intellectual editor on it, and then it's from VPRO after all? Get lost! But now I went to the camp with a female colleague; we both look like kind of gypsies, and that worked. In no time we were in somewhere and we got pea soup and a thousand stories.'
