Lake Saif Ul Mulook 4K l The Drone Life PK
Lake Saif-ul-Maluk is at 10,578 feet above sea level and is considered one of the most beautiful within the Kaghan Valley. The lake is around 30-40 minutes drive from Naran, one can hire 4x4 jeeps to get to the lake. Water from this glacial lake feeds the Kunhar river, further, it provides a great view of Peak of the snow-capped Malika Parbat Mountain. The place is busy usually during the summer season as people from across Pakistan visit this lake to enjoy the scenic views and mesmerizing landscape. One can also ride on horses along the banks of the lake, hop on a boat and get to the other side of the lake where a trail leads Aansoo lake and Malika Parbat base camp. This lake has a mythical story of fairies and princes falling in love here. It was a treat to visit with Storytellers narrating the story while we had chai and pakoras.

This expansive body of water spans over an area of 2.75 kilometers squared and stays at a cool 10 degrees Celsius year round due to its proximity to glaciers.

Now, the lake is said to be haunted by their spirits. People say that if you listen closely, you can hear them crying for each other.
How to Reach Saif Ul Malook Lake?
To reach this magnificent lake of Naran Lake, travelers start by getting to the stunning capital city of Islamabad, Pakistan. From here, they may continue to their destination via local transportation at an affordable cost. After departing from Islamabad, one goes through Hazara Motorway – which eventually leads to Abbottabad and Mansehra City. Taking Karakoram Highway at Mansehra City leads them onto Naran Babusar Top Road, bringing them directly to the valley of Naran Kaghan Via Balakot.
After visiting Naran Valley, tourists can explore Saif ul Malook through hiking or Jeep rides; there is also a rough yet scenic Jeep route for 30 minutes once you arrive in the valley. Once back up top after taking your Jeep ride, there is a short walk before you finally come across Naran Lake itself! Visitors can have a truly unforgettable experience exploring some of the world’s most spectacular peaks within Pakistani territory. Once you reach the lake, you will be mesmerized by its beauty. Saif ul Malook, a tale of fairies, lies in the Fairyland of Pakistan. As it’s a well-known fact that the immense mountains own their mystery and ambiguity. Lake Saif Ul Malook nestles in between the immense peaks and fed by its glacial melt in Kaghan Valley. The lake is considered as one of the highest lakes in Pakistan with an elevation of 10,578 feet above the sea level. Road condition from Naran to Lake Saif ul Malook is pathetic. It’s a bumpy ride all the way and only 4 by 4 jeeps can go there.
The lake is kind of a bowl where multiple glacial waters accumulate. However, it consists of large eco-diversity which includes a rare brown trout fish, bulk amount of blue-green algae, and a variety of water-plants and phytoplankton. Trout fishing is quite popular in Kaghan valley and in Naran as well.
The magical lake is completely frozen during winters due to heavy snowfall. While tour planning to Naran and Lake saif ul Malook, keep in your mind that the ideal time for tourists starts from June to September. The weather of this divine place is extremely pleasant during day time (about 15-20 degree centigrade), whereas at night the temperature drops to three degrees centigrade.
Camping at the time of the full moon is like sitting in a fairyland. It is highly recommended for those who want to see the moon shining at it brightest amongst five billion stars in the sky.

Saiful Muluk is a mountainous lake located at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley, near the town of Naran in the Saiful Muluk National Park. The lake is a source of the Kunhar river. At an elevation of 3,224 m (10,578 feet) above sea level, the lake is located above the tree line, and is one of the highest lakes in Pakistan.
Saiful Muluk is located in the Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 9 kilometres north of Naran, in the northern part of Kaghan Valley. Malika Parbat, the highest peak in the valley is near the lake.
The lake is accessible from the nearby town of Naran during the summer season but access during winter is limited.
Saiful Muluk was formed by glacial moraines that blocked the water of the stream passing through the valley. The Kaghan Valley was formed in the greater Pleistocene Period dating back almost 300,000 years when the area was covered with ice. Rising temperatures and receding glaciers left a large depression where glaciers once stood. Melting water collected into the lake.
