The North Side of Caye Caulker They Don't Show
Just past the SPLIT on the northside of Caye Caulker. This new beachfront is the perfect location to build your beachfront vacation or retirement home. Caye Caulker is more than just one island, it's two. The North side and the South side, referred to as Caye Caulker Village and Northside. Let's checkout the Rural North Side of Caye Caulker Belize. Caye Caulker is Ambergris Caye's smaller, less-visited sister island and a prime stop for travelers looking to “go slow” and enjoy a relaxed vibe in Belize . Caulker offers balmy breezes, fresh seafood, azure waters and a fantastic barrier reef at its doorstep.

Things To Do In Placencia Belize Placencia Belize is on the southeastern coast of Belize is a popular holiday destination for North American expats and tourists. The village is located on the southern tip of the 16-mile long narrow Placencia Peninsula, a relaxed “barefoot friendly” community that bills itself as the caye (island) that you can drive to as it is easily accessible by automobile via a paved 27-mile road that branches off from the Southern Highway. If you are not sure about things to do in Placencia Belize, below are some suggestions about things to do in Placencia Belize.
Placencia is a popular destination for vacationers but each tourist brings their own expectations to the kind of experience that they have in the area. Many enjoy the laid-back barefoot atmosphere where you can wander up and down the public beaches or mosey into some of the best bars and restaurants in the area. Others visitors looking for a more pampered experience can stay at top-rated luxury resorts like Chabil Mar located just a few minutes’ walk from the village.
The high season in Placencia starts in mid-December and lasts until after Easter, although any time of the year is a good time to visit. There’s always a bump in the number of visitors during the full moons of the months of May and June as that’s when the whale sharks come to feed in the waters just offshore.

In addition, river tubing is a favorite adventure for the many visitors to this unique tropical paradise. Tours leave daily from Chabil Mar.

After exploring the phenomenal food and gorgeous sites of San Pedro and Caye Caulker in Belize, I headed to another of the country’s tourism hotspots: Placencia! Come with me and let’s explore the cuisine of this beautiful beach town!

???????? Grenada Travel Series:
???????? Taste Belize:

CARMEN’S KITCHEN: At this local street food spot, I tried two similar dishes: salbutes and garnaches. Both are made from fried corn tortillas, but the salbutes come topped with shredded chicken, while garnaches always come with refried beans. Both dishes also add cabbage, pico de gallo, and habanero salsa. The garnaches also add cheese!

OMAR’S KITCHEN: After watching the cooks in the kitchen, I tried some delicious conch fritters, some light and flaky lionfish tacos, and some large and meaty prawns. The Creole crab was the highlight. The achiote in the sauce made it extra flavorful!

BREWED AWAKENINGS CAFE: Here, I had a cold brew coffee to wake up and a rich and unique seaweed milkshake made with seaweed, coconut milk, vanilla, sweetened milk, nutmeg, whole milk, and whipped cream!

BIG TITTY RUM BAR: Here, I tried several amazing rums, including a spiced rum, extra dark rum, habanero rum, rum liqueur, and nut liqueur. The rum liqueur reminded me of Baileys, while the nut liqueur almost tasted like Nutella and was very creamy!

BAREFOOD BAR: At this bar along the Tipsy Strip, we tried some Belizean bitters, fried breadfruit with habanero ketchup, and smoked mackerel dip with tortilla chips. I love breadfruit, and the mackerel dip had a deep richness with a bit of freshness from the added lime juice.

Best Boutique Hotels In Placencia Belize

We were fortunate to come across Ellysian Boutique Hotel during our walk around Placencia, Belize. This boutique hotel is in the perfect location to everything in the town of Placencia and it's a stunning property!

Shantel was so kind to give us a tour of the property and we even got to see the amazing 3-bedroom penthouse. It was so nice and comfy so now we'll need to go back and stay there the next time.

After the hotel tour, we went up to Muna, the rooftop bar and restaurant so we could check it out. We ended up eating there the following night and we had a really nice dinner.

As always, thanks so much for watching our videos!

Much love,

ABOUT US.

We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil's ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week—from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.

Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline—it’s just the new, global way of life.

Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.

We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

BIKING AROUND PLACENCIA BELIZE

We spent the afternoon biking around the 18-mile peninsula of Placencia in Belize. We found the perfect place to watch the sunset, stopped the town's above-ground cemetery, and found a lunch spot with a name that tempted Way's tastebuds.

Placencia has long stretches of stunning white sand beaches and heavy mangroves surrounded by the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

“Let’s go” has pretty much been our life’s motto since we met nearly 25 years ago. We met in New York, moved to San Diego together, and married in Lake Tahoe – all within five months. When you know, you know – you know what we mean?

Now, after raising two adventure-seeking boys, we are ready to get out and explore some more. Our children have begun their lives and now it’s time to begin the second-half of ours.

We wanted a challenge and something fun, so we are starting an adventure of a lifetime. We’re calling it #60×60. Our plan is to travel to 60 countries by the time Kim turns 60 (that’s in 6 years by the way).
